April 17, 2011 on the Dream

Hi! :)

We just got mail from DCL today confirming the showtime/dining rotation. Did any one else get theirs??

Donna :woohoo:

Our's cam in too....7pm show, 8:30pm dinner. I don't know why they had to put it in that type of envelope. I thought they were sending me a PIN code or something. I was surprised to find it was only our dinner and show times. Anyway, we can't wait!!

Ditto on the "strange" litte envelope. With the three sided tear offs it reminded me of a rebate check too. I got extra excited

I booked with DVC.

Donna :)

We're staying at Royal Pacific for 1 night on April 15th -- boy are those rates high, hoping for a AAA rate. Even with those rates it just makes sense to stay there for the FOTL perk. On the 16th we're heading to the port, but my heart is wishing we were staying at WDW for those 2 nights .

We booked Portofino for one night, April 12, but I want to read some more on US thread and may be switch to Royal Pacific- there is so much info:thumbsup2 and I always get distructed reading extra info but not what I was looking for. Is there a water taxi from RP too?
Our DD is very excited about this little extra we have just added to our trip:cool1:

Yup, we got one, and we're booked through DU. :thumbsup2 I agree about the unusual "envelope"... I thought it might be a little rebate check! :rotfl:

I got mail too but only for the first part of our b2 b: 6 pm dinner with 9 pm show, we booked directly via DCL. I agree about the envelope - I was expected to find a rebate there too :rotfl: and it does not have Mickey or
Goofy on it:lmao:
:dance3:

We got the strange mailer too! I thought they were cancelling our ressie! :sad2:Just dinner and show times.

We got one too -- DH thought it was a check :lmao:. We have 7p show and 830p dinner too.

There is a water taxi at RPR too but from all I've read on the US/IOA board, the walk is much quicker than the boat.

Same here 7pm show 8:30 dinner.

Totally agree with the 'securitized' envelope manoever. I thought it was a room assignment for our GTY! I was thinking major upgrade!

Oh well.

I kinda like this show time. It's late enough not to interfere with excursions and early enough so that I can also do something after dinner..like my proposed bar hopping excursion. :drinking:

I'm more apt to go to the show at that time, I think.

I am bummed about one thing though. That the discounts for people with military id's was yanked so quickly by Disney. Guess Disney got a flood of people and though Whoa! Too popular.

My kids have dependent id's and I was gonna have their Dad take them to Otis to get the 4 day hoppers in the beginning of next year. Hope Disney just temporarily suspended that discount and it comes back...but I got a feeling it's gone for good.

Hey, we at the six month mark! Woohoo!pixiedust:

We got out show/diner time letter too. Late diner seating 8:30, which we asked for, but our show time was 5:00. That's way to early for us as well as to much time in between the show and diner. I called DCL today and I was able to change the show time to 7:00 along with the other three cabins that
are traveling with us. No problem.

Since we are doing a few days at the World before the cruise I was also able to make ADR's for Victoria and Alberts's (we've never been and I'm so excited since I don't think we will be able to make it to Remy's on the ship), I also booked Le Cellier for the 15th(we've also never been and I'm excited about that as well), and the Cape May Cafe diner for the 16th (all 12 of ous). My very generous husband wants to buy all of the ladies in our group, 5, a piece of pearl jewery from the Pearl Kiosk at the Beach Club. It's been kind of a tradition for him to buy me one whenever we visit Disney.

(In case you all aren't familiar with the Pearl Kiosk, for about $15.00 you pick any oyster from their selection, whatever pearl is in the oyster is yours. Of course they make their money selling you a setting for a necklace or ring. It's alot of fun to find out what color, size your pearl is. I look forward to it everytime).

Have you ever done the pick a pearl at Japan in Epcot? That's where DD & I always get our pearls. Their selection of pearls is nicer than the other pearl kiosks we've been to on and off WDW property. Last year I got 3 sets of twins - 2 pearls in 1 oyster. One time I got a set on Friday and went back on Monday and got another set and the same gal opened both of them and remembered me. I got the other set later in the year.
They are a lot of fun to do.

There's also a Pearl Kiosk at Downtown Disney! :thumbsup2

We have 8:30pm dining and the 7pm show, too! :) That works out perfectly for us... much better than the show times on the Wonder and Magic!

The number from our board with the 7:00PM Show / 8:30PM Dinner seems to be growing. :)

Now, wouldn't that be strange if we all got the same restaurant rotation as well?? :wizard: Then it would be a DIS board dinner.

Deb T and Nessa have you thought of naming our group. I noticed others have. I didn't know if that makes things easier when a meeting place is decided upon, if you have to make arrangements with DCL cast in order to use a space for a large number of people, and when we are trying to find each other.

Donna :flower3:

Hi Everyone!

We received our envelope in the mail also. I never thought it would be a rebate but that's because I'm a cynical NY'er (living in CT) :rotfl2: ((I did wish though...) :rolleyes1

Donna, you are onto something there about dinner. We also are seated at the 8:30 seating and show at 7:00. I'm thrilled about this :cool1: because one of my DD's and my DH LOVE  to take naps in the afternoon, but I never want to waste a minute so and am never able to settle down for a nap :cloud9:. Our plan is that while they snoozing , I will get dressed, etc., and go off to the show(s) and meet up with them for dinner. Hopefully they will get their butts up quickly though and be able to see some of the actual show with me  (Never gonna happen!)

On another topic, has anyone taken their kids to Epcot and done the Kim Possible scavenger hunt with the phones, etc? Looked cool so just wanted to know if it was as fun as it seemed.

Out of curiosity... Are any of you on Facebook? I was thinking about the idea of us having our own private group there. I could set it up, but only if you all are willing to join. I know people have lots of different feelings about social networking sites, so I just want to get a feel for if you all would like to do something like this. If not, no problem!:goodvibes

I've done my research and can tell you that the group would be invisible on your profile to everyone but you. The only people who would have access are the people I personally send an invite to. If we decide to do it, you would PM me your email address and I would then send an invite.

Your thoughts...

We are booked on the Dream April 17th-21st and I am starting to think about the planning. I had this DIS Forum bookmarked but have not visited in a long time. It is my daughter and her dad's first Disney cruise but my third. After seeing the nearly 80 pages of posts here I feel like I am behind in my planning, my honey thinks we have lots of time, but then again he is not a planner. I want it to be a special experience for them. I am hoping to get some good tips and share whatever I can remember from my experiences. I sailed on the Wonder in the Roy E Disney suite about 8 years ago, my only claim to fame. I am not sure when is the best time to sign up my daughter, 6, for Oceaneer's Lab. We want to do the shows and dinners but also want to spend some family time together and some time alone while she is enjoying the lab. I went with my niece and nephew years ago and they loved it! I want her to experience it and the drawings of Pixie Hollow and Andy's Room look awesome. Anyone have any good tips? Anyone have a daughter around the same age that could potentially be a friend for her to play with at the lab? She is really outgoing and loves to make new friends so I am sure she will bond with whoever is there.

We are driving down from VA on the 15th and are thinking of getting a Platinum Pass for SeaWorld and Busch Gardens and spending a day at Sea World Orlando on the 16th. Busch Gardens in VA is very close to us so we would really use the pass in the next 2 years. It has a 24 month payment option so we would not have to put out the money all upfront.

I would like to join your facebook group, can you add me?

I look forward to meeting some of you in April,
Thanks, Karen

Hi Guys!

Ok, ok.... I have been to WDW at least 8 times and I am GREAT at putting together a cool itinerary for a week's worth of vacationing. However, with the cruise, I now only have 4 days and am freaking out that I won't be able to do everything so.....

I bought Tour Guide Mike online. Anyone ever use him and will he really be able to make it easier for me (than I could have done myself)?

I have used the Unofficial WDW book with their touring itineraries and found them pretty helpful, but I went with TGM for this trip.

Wish me luck, but I'd like to know someone else's opinion.

I have never used that service, but since no one has sailed on the Dream yet, I'm not sure how much it will help in planning. Granted, it appears that a lot of what happens on the Wonder will probably happen on the Dream, but there will be differences. We have found that it is pretty easy to check the Navigator in the evening to plan out the next day. Even though we have been on 9 DCL cruises, there are a lot of things that we have never done. I would suggest that you not try to cram everything into 4 days. If you do, you will need another vacation to recover.
