April 17, 2011 on the Dream

I forgot I did change my email settings so that's why I haven't gotten it. But it wasn't on the request page either.
I just go in and change my email settings, so can you send it again please?

Okay. I'll resend it when I get home this evening. :) I have no FB access at work.

Just a FYI- lildeb724 has friends joining her on this cruise. They would like to join our FB group. They're not on the DIS, but use FB regularly. So, there will be a couple of new folks introducing themselves. I just wanted you all to know where they appeared from!:upsidedow

They started new dining times that also have a show time attached. How does this work with previous reservations? My reservation is with Dreams Unlimited, but I havent' gotten any email about the change and my reservation still just says first dining. :confused3

I have no idea what criteria they are using when assigning show times, but I just looked at our ressie and it says main dining and 9:00pm show. We booked this cruise the first day it was open for gold/platinum CC members, directly with DCL. I'm guessing that they are working their way through all the reservations and assigning show times. You might want to contact your DU agent to see if they have any info.

I checked with my TA and I have the 5 o'clock show and early seating. She checked it out for me. That is fine as I am sure once dinner is over, the little ones will need some special time...

I am pm'ing you my email for the Facebook group. I have only been checking this board periodically and missed the set up of this group.

I talked with my TA and found out we have 7pm show and late dining. Not sure how I feel about this with a 9 year old and a 7 year old. I guess the one good thing is that they are night owls. I read about the kids club counselor coming to the late dinner and picking them up...that can be a good thing.

A few questions....
How do you get from a 7pm show to an 8pm dinner. Are the shows not that long?
When do you sign the kids up for the kids club? Does every child who wants to be in the club get to go or does it fill up??
Has anyone ever done the Blue Lagoon Island Dolphin encounter? We are thinking of doing it on this cruise and I am really not interested in doing the Dolphin encounter at Atlantis.
Sorry for the many questions - first time cruise and when I get on the boards the questions just start flowing!!
Thanks
Debbie

I emailed my TA and told her that I wanted the 7pm show with late dinner and that's what we now have. I don't know if DCL had already assigened us a show time or not, but she was able to get us what I wanted.

scootch, I'd email your TA if there's a show time you would rather have than risk getting the time you don't want.

Did you request the late dinner seating or was that all that was left? We've had last dinner on 12 out of 13 cruises and love it, starting when DD was 5. We had early dinner once and said never again, we were too rushed to get ready for dinner and didn't get to enjoy afternoon activities or a nice lunch.

The shows last around an hour, including talk time from the CD. As of now late seating starts at 8:15, we'll have to see if they keep that time on the Dream or push it back to 8:30.

There is no chance that the kids club will fill up, since DCL will only allow so many kids is each age group to be booked onto the ship.
You will sign your kids up online when you are able to do the online paperwork, the date should be listed on your reservation page when you sign into DCL's website. Since this is your first cruise, I think you will be able to do all your paperwork 75 days before your cruise.
Once you are in the terminal or on the ship, you will finish registering your kids and get their armbands and you will get your pager.

Can't help you with the dolphin excursions, we usually just walk about Nassau for a bit and then come back onboard the ship.

Read all the threads you can take in, especially the DCL FAQ stickied thread at the top of the main boards.

Happy planning.

we're at the 2nd seating for dinner and 7 pm show. I was able to pick this out when I made my reservation. :) My family (except for me of course) likes to take an afternoon nap for about an hour so we wanted the later seating. (hey, there's no cute little sleeping smiley face....)

I talked to DCL if you have first seating for dinner it is 6:30PM. With the 6:30 PM dinner you either get 5:00PM (1st Show) or 9:00PM (Last Show).
If you have second seating for dinner which is 8:30PM you either get the 5:00PM show or the 7:00PM show. Hope this helps.

We have 7:00PM showtime and 8:30PM dinnner.

With these new changes now I have to figure out when to do Palo.

Jilljill - we didn't pick the late seating...that was all they had! Honestly it doesn't bother me because we all like to sleep in and I don't want to have to pull the kids from afternoon fun to go to a show and dinner. I think this will only affect my father - he is an early bird!
Thank you for all the great info. I am trying to read everything but I still have questions!

You are welcome.
Maybe he won't be such an earlybird on the ship.

Ugghh! I hope not...it just occurred to me when I was reading this that we are all in one stateroom and when he gets up we may all get up!! Oh well! I'll just have to find a quiet place to nap! :goodvibes

I am kind of bummed about the show times. I wonder if they will be sticklers about it. Our theaters never got filled up with our last cruise. I have early seating which I want, but I doubt I will be back from excursions and ready for a 5pm show and some nights we dont' mind skipping dinner and eating at Topsiders and going to a 7pm show. :confused3 guess we will see how it pans out. Since we are B2b it won't be too much problem, but for just a three night, I think it would hardto hit the 5pm show each night.

I've heard they may be using a system that will scan your KTTW card before you enter the theater. I guess the theater is only set up to hold 1/3 the guests instead of ½ the guests. I guess time will tell how the whole system comes into play, along with the amount of guests on each sailing.

Oops... I was misinformed. Sorry. :)

I had previously posted a few days ago that I had talked to DCL.

Showtimes for 1st Dining (which is at 6:30PM) are 5:00PM show and 9:00PM

Showtimes for 2nd Dining (which is at 8:30PM) are 5:00PM and 7:00PM.

With dinner at 8:30PM it might take a little Disney magic :wizard: to get to the 9:00PM show.

Being assigned second seating myself, I am already trying to figure out how we are going to be out in time for Pirates In the Caribbean Show, which is usually at 9:45PM. Unless, they are changing the time for that as well.
