April 17, 2011 on the Dream

:goodvibes

Thank you everyone I will definately keep checking and taking any advise I can get. We will be sailing with our daughter, son-in-law and three grandchildren,. also my sister and brother-in-law and their two children  :grouphug:

If you haven't already linked your dining, you should go ahead and do that. We were a group of 17 on The Disney Magic back in '08 (including seven children between the ages of 5 and 7!) and had a fantastic time at dinner every night at our looooooong table! :)

Does anyone have any good tips for a first time Disney cruiser? Anything would be appreciated Thank you :flower3:

If you are doing some land and sea, pack separate bags. There really isn't alot of time to unpack, organize once you get in the room. Also, take advantage of room service. The all hands on deck platter of cheese and fruit is really nice to have in the room, along with cookies and milk at bedtime and don't forget the ice cream mickey bars. Do read the navigators online here before you go, they change very little so you are much more prepared. Hand your camera to people to take family pictures. The ones at Shutters are odd size(6 x 8) and very expensive. The ones I had people take of us turned out just as nice. On the last morning, if you are not going to breakfast on the last morning(like we did) be sure to put your do not disturb sign out... as they are in a hurry to turn over the room for the next guest(we got abruptly woken! yikes!) It is really a quick trip, so don't try to do everything. If you are looking for an adventure in Nassau, I highly recommend Atlantis. We did it by renting a room at Comfort Suites(you can do a search on that). We LOVED Atlantis, actually one of the reasons my kids were able to convince me to cruise again. Hope that helps a bit.. just keep reading the boards. :) and welcome!!

Welcome.
How was your Med cruise? We are doing the last Baltics cruise and on 6/22 DD & I are doing the 5 day Wonder cruise. Can't wait to be platinum for our Baltics cruise and this cruise. :yay:

Wow, platinum, I'm soo jelous!

The Med cruise so awesome, the trip of a life time. Rome was probably my most favorate place. We did a private tour with "allarounditaly" for our days in Rome and Florence. There were just so many ruins everywhere, so much history! We were thinking of doing the Baltics cruise, but when I saw that the Med cruise went to Pompeii, well..I just had to go. That day was great, we did the Disney excursion. We hiked Mt Vesuvius, toured around the crater, did a wine tasting from vineyards that actually grow on the volcano, I had the best pasta of my life, and then toured Pompeii. My only regret is not having more time at Pompeii.

Sounds like you had a great cruise then.
We did a Baltics cruise 2 years ago and loved it. When we found out DCL was going there this year we had to book another one with The Mouse. We are looking forward to going to Oslo and Stockholm since we didn't hit those ports last cruise. We loved Tallin and can't wait to go there again. Plus we get the added benefit of cooler temps in the summer.

Very cool! If I may ask, what newsletter do you subscribe to? I'd love to find fun updates in my inbox, too! :lovestruc

All Ears weekly newsletter at allears.net. I was with them for some years before I found DIS Boards actually on their recommendation. They are a group of lovely fanatics much like myself!!!:cutie:
Anyway I planned my first trips using info on their site and they are great. They have a very cool, informative cruise guide, a little dated now but still super informative. A wealth of planning information. It comes every week and even if I can't read it right away I always enjoy it when I do look at it. Hope it helps! :cool1:

Looks like "gradysmommy" is getting some good business on ebay! I'll be ordering my FE from her in a couple of months or so. I'm focusing on three weeks from now at the moment.:woohoo:

It's going to be a grand surprise!!! :yay:

Wow! Just checked out gradysmommy's FE's on ebay, they are soooo cool! I will definetly order one, I just have to figure out which Mickey/Minnie heads to get.

Question: Is there a $$ minimum/limit for the FE gifts, or is it whatever we're comfortably with? I'm having trouble finding exact info from the FE threads. It actually makes me a little motion sick scrolling through all of the pages. It seems like the people talk and comment about alot of different things rather than giving specific info. For the people that have participated with FE's before, would you mind stating what some of the gifts were?:thumbsup2

Since FE's are nothing 'official', it's up to each group as to the 'rules' they wish to set for their exchange.

Our last cruise we rec'd candy, post it notes, tattoos, can coolers with rhinestone MM head outlines. We gave out DCL can coolers, very old DCL ones that were brand new, MM post it notes, and candy.
Our group did one gift per cabin and since it was a 3 day cruise we handed out any time we wanted to and only did it once per cabin.
