April 15, 2006 - Spring Break -

Kimmie cute story. You just never know what kids are going to say :rotfl: I grew up on a farm and I just quite haven't gotten around to talking to Ryan on what is exactly "rocky mountain oysters" are. Your story made me laugh and laugh.

Count us in also on Maagens Bay. It sound so wonderful and relaxing.

Kimmie I will have to check out that pirate and princess thread. Ryan just loves all that pirate stuff. How many times can you watch Pirates of the Carribean?

Talk to you later guys.

Noah LOVES anything Pirate!! I took him on the Pirate Cruise last year at the Grand Floridian... and I still crack up hearing all those little boys and girls singing the Pirate Song... all the way across the Lagoon. AAAARRRRGGGGHHHH!!! pirate:

He has a Captain Hook outfit that we are bringing for Pirate's Night... if I don't find something else in the meanwhile.... Tempted to buy myself the Adult "Tinkerbelle"... she's part of the Pirates, eh?

glad to see that this board took a turn for the worse over the last page ... LOL

Tinkerbell -- pirate night? .... kinda pushing it

Kimmie, Carol from Travel called me - she said you were very sweet and appreciative

Have a WONDERFUL time!! Here's to great weather.... short lines.... romantic evenings with the wife... kids enjoying themselves.... relaxation... reading a good book... making new friends... and so on, and so on....

Be safe and have fun!!! :wave2:

Hi all

Kimmielee - very cute story - kids do say the darndest things.

David - have a great time in the Magic place!! ::MickeyMo
We also use Carol - she is great!! She saved us tons on our cruise last Christmas and quite a bit for this cruise too. I booked direct with DCL and then transferred the ressie to her.

Hope everyone is doing well - DD and I spent this past weekend working concessions at MIS race weekend. We were doing some fund raising for the competitive cheer team - I never knew just how many double cheeseburgers NAS car fan could eat. I'm still trying to recover - and I don't think I will eat a cheeseburger for quite some time!!

Vicki

Hi there to you too Vicki!! Mary and I have been driving David nuts.... :rotfl2: Two newbies... tons of questions... we'll be paying him a fee when we meet him!

Noah and I are headed to Frankenmuth this weekend... last weekend before he starts kindergarten on Tuesday!!! :earsboy: I can't believe my baby is growing up! Can't he just stay like he is.... thinking Momma is his hero, she can do no wrong, "knows" everything (except that Bulls don't have two tongues) :rotfl: Ok.... I'll stop...

The Double dip cruise thread.... has over 14,000 posts... OH MY GOSH.... what do they talk about? :earseek:

Go for it with the Tinkerbell costume. I asked my DH if I could wear the pirate costume I am wearing for Halloween this year- but I don't know if it is "disney" friendly. :earseek: He thought it would be ok- short skirt and mid drift exposure and all. Thinking about it now the outfit covers more than a swimsuit. We'll see.

David have a wonderful time in Florida. By the looks of things you may get a little wet due to Hurricane Katrina but who cares you are on vacation.

Good Luck to Noah on his first day of Kindergarten. Ryan started last Wednesday on the 17th. He loves it already.

Talk to you guys soon-
Mary

thanks for the kind words

hoefully the hurricane will be nice and move away quickly

see ya around labor day!

stay safe

I will be along on this same cruise in April. It will be our (DS15 and me) 5th time on board the Magic. We have been on three Eastern cruises and one Western. His school vacation week just happens to have fallen on mostly all Eastern weeks. We went once in Sept when the opening of his school was delayed for construction, and got to go on the Western. Both cruises have there highlights, on the Magic there is only one lowpoint, and that is disembarkation. Leaving the best vacation behind can be depressing!

I just enjoy hearing everyone talk about the cruise. I am trying to convince my sister and her husband to take their kids along with us. I have a nephew who is 6 and loves pirates. I think he would have a real blast! We all went to DW last year and had such a great time.

If I can offer anyone any advice or answer any questions (from a single dad of a teen) point of view ask away. Since it has just been me and my son I have never had the pleasure of eating at PAlO, although the last two cruises I ate with just the other people I meet at my table since he loves the teen center so much he rarely leaves there, while at sea. I have however experienced just about everything else there is to do on and off the Magic. Can't wait to get back on board it has been the highlight of our year for the last 4 years and look forward to going back to our once a year home!

Welcome Swede63 to our little corner of the world. I am sure you are excited about the cruise as much as we are.
Since this is our first Disney Cruise, I am sure you will be a wealth of information for us.
Again Welcome. :cheer2:

How nice of you to join us! Mary and I are both newbies so we've managed to ask all the typical "newbie" questions with more to come! :rotfl2:

As for Palos... I'm a single Mom... my DS (6) is much younger but I'm hoping he'll like the club enough to let me enjoy it one night! I'd love the company! I had "reservations" about making reservations... and eating alone. We are trying to arrange seating for a few of us to eat together that have kids... so perhaps we can link dinner seating together as well. David and I are early seating. Are you early or late?

My first question for you, since you done the Eastern route so many times... what are your favorite excursions? :moped:

Pardon the pun . . . :rotfl: This will be the 2nd DCL cruise for me and my family (DH, DD-9, DS-6). We are the family that Michelle (MJVans) was referring to. It's been such a crazy summer (as usual) that I didn't check the forums in months  . I just did a search for the cruise date tonight and . . . found you all.

I also saw that Michelle had to cancel. I am so sad. We had such a great time with her and her family -- really, really, wonderful people. My daughter hit it off with her daughter so well too, and my son with her boys.

I'd love to hear if anyone has a daughter close to my daughter's age. She will be 1 month shy of her 10th birthday at crusie time. My son will be 7 1/2.

I look forward to getting to know you all through the forums before the cruise.
Best,
Maria

Sorry, I couldn't resist either!!!

David (djs113) has a daughter almost your daughters age (9.5) and a son close to both of our son's ages (6). They are in Florida right now... :umbrella: Wishing them pixie dust to push the rain away!

I've been a weather channel junkie since Hurricane Katrina sprouted up... I've turned into my Mother!!! :rotfl2:

Welcome aboard... and can't wait to chat. Have a great weekend!

Welcome to our little chat place. It is always nice to meet new people.
I am glad you could join us. Talk to you soon. :wave2:

Eating at PAlO as a group sounds great to me. We have early seating, and as I have said before it is just me for dinner. My son does not show up to dinner at all. Pizza is fine for him every night and alot of the teens don't bother to eat with the parents, the meal moves along too slow for them. Of course it is to fast for me, I love to sit, relax, be waited on and realy enjoy dinner. I have always had good luck with my tablemates at dinner. I have meet some real nice people and we usually compare experiences from the day. Except for this year I was put with a family from Europe that didn't speak any english, not exactly what I needed since I was by myself. I requested to change seats and was moved the next night, problem solved. So I think it woudl be great to sit with someone that I got a chance to know before we go on the cruise.

As far as excursions I have done a few. I have to say that going out on our own we have saved money and had alot more fun and time to enjoy the islands. St Marteen is nice, if you want to shop this the island to buy jewelry on, also other items here are very reasonably priced. The beaches are nice too. We enjoy Orient Beach. You can grab a cab right at the dock. The rates are predetermined by the government and posted on a big board. You can rent beach chairs and an umbrella for About $20. The thing I enjoy about doing it this way is that you can go and return when you want. Not on the Excursion time frame. I like the beach alot and enjoy it there. Now I have to warn you that it is European. Which means there may be some topless women so if your kids are bothered by it then it can be a problem. Most of the nude beach is way down the other end, the beach is pretty big. You might see a few walking down the beach, but that is about it. As far as snorkeling ST Marteen is not the best place to see underwater life. I love to snorkel and do it at St Johns, which I think is a must, and Castaway. I will get back to you with more on excusions when I have some more time to type.

Can't wait to hear "WHEN YOU WISH UPON A STAR" again on the Magic horn, it really gets the trip off to a great start. That and few cocktails at the sailaway party!!

I can't wait to experience the food... the view... the food... :rotfl2: OH, and the company of course! :grouphug:

Kimmeelee what excursions were you thinking of going on? Have you ever snorkeled? If you haven't I would suggest that you and your son try it at Castaway for a number a reasons. The island is beautiful and the water that you snorkel in is protected by a rock, which makes it like a lake. Smooth water hardly any waves and Disney has a done a nice job of setting up the under water with a submarine and Captain Mickey!! There area alot of nice fish to see also here. You can rent snorkel equipment right on the island.

As for sitting together on at dinner that would be great if you want to put in the request send me an Im.

I do want to take Noah snorkeling. I've never been... but I went scuba diving in Cancun... It was so exciting, scary, exhilirating... a husband of a co-worker just died last week from a diving accident (came up too fast) and now I'm too scared to try diving again.

Thanks for the suggestion about Castaway... sounds like a slice of heaven. Noah is a fish :fish: when he gets in the water and I bought snorkeling equipment when it was marked down last week!

Hey guys, sorry I have been off the boards lately. I guess there has been a baby boom here in Kansas City, so I have been busy at work.

I would love to take Ryan snorkling but I don't know how well he would take breathing out of a tube and all. I guess we will have to experiment with the equipment in the swimming pool. I am definetly brining my own gear, something about the whole "germ" thing. I guess it is the nurse in me.

Right now a beach sounds good with a drink in my hand. :cool1: I am counting down the days on my calendar. It is going fast.

I bought Ryan the Disney Store pirate costume for Halloween yesterday. He has been wearing it around the house and loving it. Heck it even glows in the dark.

Well anyway, I will talk to you guys later-

Mary- I honestly can't remember if I asked before (or if you mentioned)- are you an OB nurse? I guess with the reference to a baby boom I thought perhaps. I have worked OB for 19 years. We also have been experiencing the pre-holiday rush.
I have to agree with the germ thing with snorkle gear, we always bring our own. I know they soak them in something but I guess I don't think that is enough.
