April 15, 2006 - Spring Break -

Really had to give this thread a boost - I couldn't find it at all. I had to see where I had previously posted.

Where is everyone?

Was able to view our school calander for next year and this is their week. I was getting a bit anxious with everyone else that had to change due to their spring breaks. Can't wait!!

:goodvibes :goodvibes

DS - 6 (by then) and myself... single Mom. Saved vacation money from this year, put it with next years and wooo hoooo.... Staying at POFQ for 3 nights before the cruise... then sailing away on the 15th! I can't wait!! : )

I'm a Disney Cruise first timer so ANY helpful hints would be wonderful. I justified the extra $$ by knowing that my DS can be kept busy and I can relax by the pool and read a book. Now that's an expensive book reading!!!

My main concern: dressing for dinner!! :earseek: :earseek: How formal are formal nights and do I need a suit for him?

Great to meet you all and I can't wait until our cruise!

Anymore of you joining us on the Spring Break April 15, 2006 Eastern cruise? :cloud9:

Hi Kimmie

Your son does not have to have a suit, it is your choice

Last cruise, my son, 5 at the time, and I wore matching tuxedos with Mickey bow ties and vest - we had a blast

Michelle,

how you been, how is the summer going?

In the fall we should start the kids talking back and forth

- David

Thanks David, that helps!

I do have one question... being Easter Sunday while we are cruising... do they offer any special items for room delivery... such as Easter Baskets or do I need to pack one, hide it, fill it, etc...?

Nice to see so many from Michigan will be on the trip! I can't wait! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

can't speak for easter, but we were on the 10 christmas cruise and everyone was given a special litho made by "Ducky" Wiliams on christmas morning

if you do not want to bring something yourself, a suggest ordering a custom basket or gift from Shirley at the Perfect Gift

She can send it so it is awaiting for you in your stateroom, or i'm sure something can be worked out fo concierage to hold it for the extra day

- David

Has anyone ever gotten a decent explanation as to why prices almost DOUBLE for this cruise? :confused3

simple answer is supply and demand

it is probably one of the most sought after weeks of the year as a result of kids from most schools around the country being off as a result of Spring Break, Easter week, and Jewish Passover week.

Since most families won't pull kids out from school for a week - this limits your choices to

Christmas week
Spring Break/Easter/Passover week in April
February / winter break week

and the summer months (hurricane season)

this is what I have been told by DCL and travel agents

- David

So how many of us have young boys that will be in the clubs together? My son will be 6 1/2 by then. Perhaps they could trade pictures, emails, etc... ahead of time?

Anyone staying at WDW before or after the cruise? I think I've lost my mind and I'm doing both! :rotfl2:

we will be definitely shooting emails back and forth between the kids

adds to the magic

i originally planned with michelle that we would start emailing around the fall - more than 6 months or so would probably lose the kids' interests

michelle has 2 boys, and my son will be 6 years 2 months when we ceuise

Sounds awesome! Count us in! We went to the Disney Store today... and Noah told all of the cast members that he was going on the "Mickey Mouse Boat". He's very excited!

Kimmielee - WELCOME
We are almost neighbors - Glad you will be joining us. I think I will have a lot of free time too I hope to get some reading done too. (I don't think the daughter will want to be with me 24/7)

Just returned from the World, had a great time visiting with some of the families we met on the 10 day Christmas cruise. Still trying to talk Stacey and her daughter to join us on this cruise.
The hardest part of going to Disney is coming home!!

I did look at the rooms available and the prices. You have to not do this to me! :teeth:
Hi David!!

Hi Stace!

Hi all - anyone need anything from WDW - we are going in 3 weeks

let me know

- David

:sad1:
We have had to postpone our Disney cruise as we found out right before school ended that my daughter will have to partake in mandatory school testing the week we planned to be gone. It is a statewide test of academics and it is just too important to have her miss or try to make-up. We fully intended to take the kids out of school that week, as our spring break is 2 weeks before, but as testing is planned for the week of the cruise, it simply does not make sense to continue with our plans. We are so bummed!! However, we are now anxiously awaiting the dates in 2007 so we can book another cruise, probably in August of 2007 so we don’t have to chose between school, sports and vacation. Hope you have a super trip!

We will miss being onboard this Easter cruise for sure!

Michelle

Ok, I just can't STAND to see our group buried so deep! :earseek:

I can't get enough of research.... pictures... stories... I'm soooo excited!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Have I been bit by the Disney Magic bug?

trust me, the bug bites again and again and again

we will be at WDW in 2 weeks if anyone needs anything picked up for them

If main seating is still available... does that mean that our cruise still has lots of room available? :confused3

I'm not sure, but usually the main dining fill up first. DD tells me we have late - I guess that is a sign of aging when you can't remember when you are supposed to eat.

I think I have been biten by the bug too - just returned from WDW and in addition to this cruise I am now booked with some of the Crhistmas 04 mom's on the 11 night southern 9-17-06.
