April 14, 2007 Eastern Cruise!

Disney fanatic - my DDs will be 5 and 7 yrs, not both 5. Twins! Oh my gosh! I can't even imagine!

Thanks for doing up a list!

So, everyone, we are at the 6-month mark. For me, that means time to decide upon excursions. Anyone have any they recommend/don't recommend?

I'll report back after doing some more research. We don't snorkel or scuba dive, so are mainly looking for beaches and shopping. Probably a beach at St. Thomas and shopping at ST. Maarten. We'll be doing the stingray encounter at CC.

My kids will be having their spring break the week prior to the cruise, so I've talked DH into spending that week at WDW! We're probably crazy for going at such a busy time, but hey, I'll go whenever I can! :yay:

Hey Everybody,

Heres the updated list - thanks for the help fixing it :thumbsup2

2Munchkins and Munchkinsmom - boy am I going to get you two confused :rotfl: Your DD's together go 5-6-7 age wise - what a coinsidence!

Regarding our crusing history:

1995 - Big Red Boat - DW (thats me) DH, DD
2001 - Disney Magic - DW, DH, DD, DS
2002 - Disney Magic - DW, DH, DD, DS, DM, DF
2005 - Disney Wonder - Back to back, 4 day then 3 day - DW, DH, DD, DS

All of the gaps were filled with Disney World vacations :woohoo: Were DVC members at Old Key West and Saratoga Springs.

So, on the cruise, are you guys doing door magnets? My DD has already begun making them after she saw the huge Door Magnet Thread. I was thinking that my DD could make a matching door magnet for everyone all the Disers on the cruise. How does that sound?

Maybe we could come up with a silly name, like the "Crusin' Castaways" (which is already taken) :teeth:

Is anyone thinking of doing Fish Extenders? I think it would be fun if we could all organize leaving treats in eachothers fish extenders throughout the cruise.

Im definitely getting ahead of my self... What can I say, I love to plan :Pinkbounc

It's nice to hear someone who gets into planning as much as I do. we're, well maybe my dd and I are planning as much as we can. we did order the passporter book and it is very helpful. Just to update your list we have a dd11 a ds4 and my very young and beautiful dw and me dh. :hourglass :surfweb:

Willbeer - I updated for you in the post above.

If everyone who has said their coming could check in, that would be great. This way we can make sure we're all "in the same boat" ( :lmao: I know, im not very funny.) Even if theres nothing wrong with your portion of the list, just post so I know I don't need to change anything.

Im thinking there are going to be a lot of disers on the cruise, considering we already have approximately 83 people! Thats going to be one BIG Dis meet!

I encourage everyone to put something about our cruise in your signature, so we can raise awareness of our cruise meet thread. This way other posters will know where to go if there cruising with us.

Also, feel free to add your self to that "Want to know whos crusing when you are, READ INSIDE!" thread on the home page for the DCL forum. This way other people who are cruising when we are will know who's coming.

Can't wait to hear from you all! :thumbsup2

EDITED TO ADD: A poster with the disname of RoyalViser comes up when you search our dates on the searching database. Does anyone know him, or "talk" to him on the boards often? Maybe someone could PM him and get him to come on over to our meet ::yes::

My DD who will be 11 on this cruise wanted me to ask if there are any other kids on this thread her age going? We also have a 4yr old.

To answer your question, Wilbeer, its looks like triggs2 and EAP'sDAD both have DD11's.

Hi Everyone,

I am still here! Saw a cute foam pirate ship at the craft store today. I bought two so I could change my door magnets for pirate night. Getting excited to sail on the 4 day Thanksgiving Wonder.

:dance3: WELCOME Dis2008 and gammasip! :dance3:

Dis2008- You said you've been on 3 cruises. Were they all Dis Cruises? Eastern?

I've been reading about St. John and St. Martin in Fodor's. They really have high opinions of Baie Orentale for St. Martin and Trunk's Bay for St. John. And Trunk's Bay is supposed to be really good for beginning snorkelers (? :confused3 ) I keep forgetting how much time we have docked at St. Thomas.

It seems a little formidable to get off the ship at St. Thomas and hope on a ferry for an hour or so to get to St. John. I'm determined to go though and just wondering how much beach 'stuff'' to lug there and back.

Ít's a good thing we have all these months to sweat the details! :daisy:
Hi!

I am sure you've heard from lots of others, but wanted to weigh in on the difficulty/value of making the hike to St. John. My opinion - St. John is heaven on earth and it is definitely worth the trip. The beaches there are what you dream of when you think of being on an uninhabited island - absolutely stunning. The trip is easy, and there are always lots of boats to get you there, right at the dock. We've taken the Dis offering, and booked our own at the dock, both worked and the latter was definitely cheaper and just as safe. Made the trip with 2 and 3 year olds - took towels, beach buckets and didn't need anything else. Hope you have a GREAT time!

Yogibigdog,

I bet you can't wait for the thanksgiving cruise! Were redo-ing our kitchen now so were going to have to get away for thanksgiving, wish we were crusing with you :)

So, im assuming that your section of the list is correct? If so, im doing better than I thought :rotfl:

Thanks! Def. makes me feel better. :flower:

I haven't done much research lately as I just moved and am in box hell! But I was wondering how and who you booked with when you did it yourself and whether you did it ahead!

I know I wouldn't remember the name of the Grand Cayman co. I booked with had we been able to dock and actually do the excursion. Which we didn't-dock that is. :sad2:

I added to my sig. but I don't know how to make the link say something other than what it is. Another learning curve, that curved right by me. :moped:

Great idea though.

To make the link say something other than what it is, you click on the little symbol right above where you type your message that looks like a world with a metal chain link beside it. It will prompt you to give a title (ex. 4-14-07 Cruise Meet!) and then the URL. Then :wizard: you've got the link!

Pershing, I feel for you, we are doing a kitchen renovation and are also in box hell! :crowded:

When we went to St. John, I am proud to tell you we had NO plan! We simply walked off the ship and looked for somebody who looked reputable! Now thats winging it for you :rolleyes1

Sorry about the double post, I quoted wrong :badpc:

Can't believe it is already less than 6 months until our cruise!!! We just have to get through winter. Does anyone know what the weather is like in the Caribbean in April? I know it will be warm but what about the humidity?

I am going to start planning door signs for this cruise. When we cruised in Nov. 2004, I made a magnet for everyone in the family. They got to pick a picture and I printed it and put it on a magnet sheet and stored them on our refrigerator. Unfortunately I left them there!! I'm hoping to get them all the way to the ship this time.

I keep checking airfare, it is outrageous!! Hopefully Southwest will come out with something better but being the Friday after Easter I'm afraid it is going to stay high. We are researching driving down  but 24 hours in the car does not thrill me.

Gosh! Wish I could go with you. Holiday or not! It sure beats sitting around with the relatives trying to keep my kids in line!

Thanks *************! Are you stopping by your timeshare bf or af the cruise? We rented points at Beach Club for after and are so looking forward to it.

My door magnet was a life saver the last cruise with my oldest signing himself in and out of the lab. Otherwise I could spent the whole day looking for him. He could go where he wanted as long as he stopped by the door and updated where he was. I'm waiting for those cold yucky days to obsess about my door magnet etc. That's one of the great parts about having a cruise booked! :woohoo:

Thanks for the sig. fix *************! I think I've got it.

Hi all! My info is correct in the list. I, too, am waiting for the airfare to look reasonable but I'm nervous that it won't go down. I am playing the waiting game also. Southwest is our last resort (out of Philly-we live in NJ) but I detest the cattle call seating.
Ah well. I can't believe we are at less than 6 months! Yahoo!!

Luvbuggy!

Hi everyone...we're new to the DIS....just like to say our family..myself, DH and son (8) are going on our 1st Disney cruise April 14th, 2007 Eastern. We've anxiously been waiting to go on another cruise. We sailed RCL Majesty Western in 1995 and RCL Monarch Southern in 1997. We've been to Disney World countless times and thought now is the time that DS would enjoy a cruise. I've noticed there are quiet a few Bostonian's going this week too. Can't wait to cruise!

We have been anxiously waiting to go on another cruise. We have sailed RCL Majestey Western in 1995 and RCL Monarch Southern in 1997. Now that DS is older, we felt this would be a good time to go on the Disney Magic. I've noticed that there are quite a few Bostonians going this week too. Can't wait to cruise!

....And some Cape Codders! :welcome:

Have you booked your flights yet? Or are you like me waiting for Jetblue to come to their senses or SW to open up? I would much rather fly out of Providence but haven't had the opportunity yet!

We also have to hit the parks a little bit with every cruise. Every time I'm like, "Ok! We just doing the cruise.." And then kids talk me into more. :yay: This time I got talked into the Nick hotel before the cruise. I'll need to relax after that! :goodvibes
