April 14, 2007 Eastern Cruise!

Let's Talk Disney said:
Hi Everyone....we're new to the Dis and wanted to say our family...myself, DH and son (8) will be going on our first Disney Cruise on April 14, 2007 Eastern. We have been anxiously waiting to go on another cruise. We have sailed RCL Majestey Western in 1995 and RCL Monarch Southern in 1997. Now that DS is older, we felt this would be a good time to go on the Disney Magic. I've noticed that there are quite a few Bostonians going this week too. Can't wait to cruise!

Welcome! We are too from Massachusetts and my DS will be almost 8 when we sail.

Pershing...
I watched SW flights open up for the Feb. school vacation. I was online within 10 mins of the dates opening up. I think the prices automatically default to the higher prices. The prices were all at the maximum price or close. Good luck getting your airfare.

disneyfanatic3166 - Thank you for adding my family to the list. Looking forward to meeting everyone.

Pershing - my son Tyler I'm sure would like to meet your son as well on the cruise. Have you stayed at the Nickelodean Hotel before? We stayed there 9 days in September 2005. My son LOVED it! He asks all the time to go back. If you haven't already stayed there rest assured your kids will have a great time. Of course we HAD to stay in a Spongebob room which we found to be clean and very spacious. If you have any questions regarding the Nick please ask me. Enjoy your stay! As for my flights....I decided to book the flights on my own instead of booking it as a package. We've never gone on vacation during April school vacation week....and I now know why...everyone else is trying to get to Orlando that week too. I've looked into Jet Blue Yikes....the rate I got was really high. I'm hoping the rates on Southwest out of Manchester, NH will be better.

Those of you from Massachusetts, what town are you from....We live in Methuen, MA

I grew up in Wellesely and my Mom who is coming with us still lives there. I currently live in Franklin.

disneyfanatic3166- we are from western Mass, East Longmeadow to be exact. My sister-in-law just moved to Wellesley, I had an uncle in Franklin and grew up in Canton.

We have traveled on April vacation before and not had such high airfare. This year Easter is the weekend before Patriots Day so I think we may find a good fare for the return but not for the flight down. Maybe we should start a convoy! (Or does that date me!) We are planning on driving but praying for a ding fare from SWA from Hartford, Albany or Providence.

Wow! REALLY small world!

Yogibigdog - I'm sure I've seen your mother around, which elementary school did you go to?

Tyna - Tell your SIL Welcome to Wellesley! She should consider joining the Wellesley Newcomers Club, we joined 6 years ago when we moved here, and it was much fun.

pixiedust: Faith, Trust and Pixie Dust to all of you who still need airplane tickets! Good luck!

We also live in East Longmeadow. Right now we have booked our airfare through Disney, has anyone else done this in the past?

We just moved from Orleans to Eastham. Still getting settled. I'm holding on to this cruise by the skin of my teeth with our new mortgage payment. My one saving grace is that most of the trip is already paid for. It doesn't help that my car keeps breaking down. If I had any sense, I'd ditch the trip and buy a new car......but apparently I don't! Have any sense that is. :cloud9:

Saving for the airfare is my last hurtle. You're right about the way down being more expensive that the way back, tyna. When Southwest opens up, I'm going to buy just the way down and hope for a ding! Then use the credit towards booking the way back. It's a tricky plan, but one I hope will work. :stir:

Let's Talk Disney- my 8 year old is a chatterbox non-stop, loves Yu-hi-oh and Pokemon, and swims like a :fish:
I hope your son isn't shy. He'd be turned off by my little bundle of energy.

About booking air with Disney-It was always a bad deal with connections/price/times, but lately I've heard a couple people get some ok deals with them. I think we've all gotten used to not even considering it.

I went to Schofield then we move across town. My mom is not to far from the center now.

Make sure you have Southwest Ding downloaded to your PC - you will get dinged as soon as the new dates opened up. I got dinged at 2:30 when Feb. opened up. When I open the ding 10 mins later most of the fights had been booked. They went fast. I will watch too and post as soon as I see April open up. Good Luck!

Very cool :). My DD went to Fiske (very close to Schofield) but we moved across town, so my DS now goes to Upham.

P.S. Love the pic in your signature :thumbsup2

Yogibigdog - Thanks for the Southwest "Ding" info. This is the first time we'll be traveling during April school vacation (it very well might be the last time we travel during this time) I'm shocked how high the airline rates are to Florida for April (we usually go to WDW in September). I'm anxiously waiting for Southwest to open April rates as well. I looked at JetBlue out of Logan but decided to hold out for Southwest leaving from Manchester, NH. Then there's the question...do I want to fly on Friday the 13th :scared1: or leave on Thursday the 12th instead. Silly I know. Good luck to you all booking your flights.

Okay, I may have gone a little planning crazy this time... I created a cruise website :rotfl:

Here's the link: http://disneycruise41407.wetpaint.com/

I haven't really done much with it so far, let me know what you think! I was thinking of posting the list of everyone we know of thats going, there's not really any personal information on it, but if anyone objects with their username and family members ages and genders (not names) being posted, please let me know. I'll wait till Saturday to add everyones DisNames and info, so try to let me know by then :wizard:

So here's an idea that I thought was cute, thought I'd share (I saw it on the DCL page on the Dis): We create fish extenders (see this thread for pics and purpose fish extenders) and then leave little gifts for eachother in them throughout the cruise. How does that sound? I figured that, although it is far in advance, there may be huge sales on little trinkets after halloween, which would be great for treats in the fish extenders. Has anyone ever done this on a previous cruise? Any thoughts?

Love the design of the website you set up! Thanks for the link on fish extenders never saw or heard of them before.
I think it is a cute idea - the only problem I see - the fact that in the past that some groups of people onboard with too much time on their hands go around moving or taking door signs and decorations. I would be disappointed if we but little gifts inside and someone took them.
I am heading to The Wonder in about 3 weeks so I will see if it is still a problem. If anyone wants me to pick something up for them from the ship let me know.

Headed to the wonder in 3 weeks! No fair :rotfl:

I was also thinking about people with too much time on their hands... It could be trouble. We are going to personalize all of our door magnets so they wouldn't really be appealing, but the treats could be an issue. Perhaps those could be personalized as well? Oh well... if we do it, we can only hope for the best.

We've made it to the front page of the Cruise Meets section of the Dis! :cheer2: Yippee! This way, others cruising when we are will see our meet easily. party:

:badpc: Ugh! The Ding program is messed up on my pc! I've been trying to fix it, but it's one of those things where you have to have a bunch of time and a bunch of patience. Lately, I have neither. I may uninstall and start over at this point.

If airfare remains bad and I can't do Southwest. I may put together a connected flight myself. I would love to use USAir out of Hyannis! :) I flew out of there when I was little and it was fun to take off and see the rest of the cape. Maybe I could connect that to a Ding from North Carolina or Baltimore that goes to Orlando.

I may get creative on the way down, but I want a straight shot on the way back! Jetblue and a bus back home 'fer sure!

Happy Halloween to all!

Please share your Halloween plans or what your kids are being!

My DS was a baseball player, and my DD was a Blow Pop.

HAPPY :maleficen :hmghost: HALLOWEEN

I hope everyone had a nice Halloween too!

DD was an angel and DS was a Pirate (he'll wear this on the cruise too! :thumbsup2 ).

Hi Everyone!

I've added a new section to the cruise website titled: Diser Details. The idea is that we can share more in depth details about each other, like names, crusing/DVC facts, category on the cruise, seating, etc. This way we can have it all in the same place. If you would like, you can add the info yourself, or you can PM me your info, and I can add it for you. I'd also love to have a piece of clip-art to represent each of the people in everyones parties, so let me know what your favorite characters are, so I can add those for you.

Happy Planning!
