I was just directed to here! 3 weeks to go!!! This is our first real Disney cruise - DH and honeymooned on the Big Red Boat 15 years ago - methinks this one will be better!!!!

(now I wanna go catch up on this thread :yay: )

Bethel? WOW!! :welcome:

We have plenty of Norwalk, Wilton, Trumbull, New Milford families on this cruise and now we've added Bethel!! My best friend is from Bethel.

I'm Kat ... living in Norwalk with my husband Phil and son Shawn who is 18 and daughter Gabi who is 10. We've been on the Wonder before but this is our first time on the Magic and we can't wait!!!

Please let us know who you are traveling with so I can get you added to the list of Diser's!

Welcome Mduff! This is a great group to join!

Meanwhile, my TA just found out that we are now back to the normal dining rotations and Pirate night is back to Tuesday -- night 4. :confused3

Can't wait to see what it changes to next week!

My niece who had Wednesday Palo changed to Thursday, so the change back to Tuesday is no problem for her. I don't think any of our others were affected.

Three weeks from today we fly away!!!! :tinker:

Okay, add me to the list :) And our friends - I'm getting to do all the planning and having a blast! I can do Disneyworld with my eyes closed but the cruise stuff is all new to me.

Me, DH, DS (9), DD (5)

our friends are from Monroe, CT and have a DD (9) and a DD (8).

I'm relieved my DD is social and outgoing and won't have a problem doing her camp while the other 3 are together.

I just got my paperwork yesterday and met my DS off the school bus jumping up and down! I was looking for an upgrade but didn't get one, which is just as well, since our friends are right next to us and it would suck if one of us got upgraded and the other didn't! :rolleyes1

Marla

ACK! They changed dinner nights? I need to go check which night I have Palo!

Welcome Marla! We are from Wilton. Are you flying out of Westchester on Jetblue? I think we all are but some are different days in and out.

I hope no one gets screwed up with the dinner rotation changing back. I imagine the kitchen was pretty wild during the change up.

We went shopping for the kids today. Oldest got a few dresses and some nice tops and some jean capris. I told my dh to stand by the dressing room to see a surprise. My 13 year old came out and you should have seen his face. LOL! His words---"Now, that is just wrong!". LMAO. She looked so good. You'll see it on semi-formal night.

Ok--gotta go.

Deb

Welcome Marla! There is a list of everyone posting on page 43. Which seems so far back now.

I also got our cruise documents yesterday! I was on the phone with a friend/neighbor who let me know that UPS was coming down my driveway, so now both the UPS driver and my friend think I am nuts since I went running outside and shouting in the phone that it must be my cruise documents.

And I must be driving the UPS guy crazy because I keep ordering new things that I must have for the cruise. Yesterday I ordered pirate things for everyone. I kept stalling because DH & DS weren't sure they wanted to dress like pirates. But I talked them into pirate shirts and figured they could wear them with either pants or shorts. Kayla really wanted to dress like a pirate so I ordered us both skirts and tops. Should be fun.

I'm not sure about laundry. We are staying in Florida until the Monday after the cruise, so I might try and do one quick load of shorts and t shirts to make sure there is clean stuff for those days.

Have a great Easter everyone! We have family (16 people) coming on Sunday, so it will be crazy here tomorrow and Sunday.

We're flying out of LaGuardia on Delta - it was the cheapest flight I could find. The JetBlue flights were expensive!!! And unfortunately we're doing connection flights but I figure the kids won't mind getting off the plane and grabbing lunch since they're with their friends.

So what's the scoop on the dinner rotation? Is Pirate Night back on the 4th night? I have Palo on the 5th night and don't want to miss Pirate Night :(

I was gonna start packing today and I feel so overwhelmed about what I need to take for everyone - can anyone here direct me to a list of suggested packing? I do so much better with lists :)

hi, I have 3 granddaughters on this cruise. . The 6 and 7 year old are very outgoing and the 5 year old will follow...Savannah (6 turning 7 on 4/26), Ashleigh (7) acts older... and Amber (5).

Maybe they will match up..

By the way my husband is from Shelton, CT

I do great with lists do. In fact, I make a list of all the non-clothes stuff we bring and I pack it with us. That gives me a checklist on the last night to make sure we don't forget anything.

For all those cruise newbies, if you are going to be on the boat really early, you won't have access to your rooms. It is often suggested that you pack either a change of clothes for dinner and/or your swimsuit if you want to swim. Also, please don't forget to keep out your change of clothes the last night of the cruise. They'll take your luggage and you won't have anything to wear.

Hey Deb,

As a veteran Disney cruiser, I know that I would love any "lists" that you use to pack with. Also, any comments on jackets, sweaters and how cool it gets in the evening or early morning? Or in general, any more packing comments?

Good morning,

Welcome aboard Marla, I am one of the oddballs and not from CT cruising with you all (we usually say "ya'll"). DH & I are from central FL about 2 hrs from PC, I just read your post re: packing list and just this AM came across this extensive spread sheet, probably more info than you wanted but thought you might like to check it out:

Heading out today to try to find a bathing suit. I have a favorite beach shop that I go to every year its wall to wall swimsuits. Wish me luck.

See ya, Kim

Thanks Kim! That list looks great - now I can print it out and go down the list with a highlighter as I pack.

Good luck with the bathing suit! I hate shopping for them - I bought two from Lands End last year in Oct when we went to Disney - I'm glad they still fit :)

Welcome Mduff-

The Trumbull family is checking in. My SIL is a teacher in Bethel (2nd Grade).
I didn't know our documents arrived until this morning when I went to get the newspaper (our UPS man just drops and runs) so I was pretty excited this morning. I'm putting together a bag for my parents since this is their first cruise will all kinds of things they might not have thought about-clothespins, pop up hamper, highlighters, post its, pepto, Bonine, etc. I put it in one of those reusable Mickey bags The Disney Store is selling now. I'll give them our set of lanyards upon check in since we got ours in November when we were on the Wonder. I'm ignoring the dining rotation situation for now, I figure I'll deal with it on arrival. Now I'm worried that the ship docked late at CC-11am, and we have the Eco tour booked at 10:30am. Something about the engines. Oh Bother!

This time in three weeks we'll be heading up to the deck party and hearing those 7 sweet notes playing "When you Wish Upon a Star". I can't wait!!

Happy Easter to all!!

I'm so glad gfolchick mentioned highlighters. I almost forgot about them!

Here's another weird question from me.

Are there clocks on board for kids to see, or should we make sure they have a watch? We don't want them having excuses for not being where they are supposed to be, when they are supposed to be there!

This time in 3 weeks we'll be at sea!! We will already have heard the whistle :)

Has anyone used the Ginger candy or pills for seasickness?

How cool about your SIL! My son is in 3rd grade - do you know which school your SIL teaches in?

Marla

Mduff, my DH and I don't cruise without Bonine. I don't get very much motion sickness, but he does. When we went to Alaska even I had to take a Bonine one very bad-weather day, but we were up walking around, eating, and having a great time while 75% of the other passengers were in their rooms sick.

On our Caribbean cruise I didn't take any at all, but DH takes one every day whether he thinks the seas are rough or not!

Here's a helpful hint for any who may be planning to do laundry: Do not put your roll of quarters in your carry-on. Make sure you pack it in your checked luggage. I totally freaked out the TSA agents one trip when they couldn't figure out what that small "bar" of metal was in my carry-on bag! I ended up having to empty the entire bag for them to see what was there. :rotfl:

Did some shopping today and got new luggage for the boys, got it home and found a rip in one bag. AARRGGHH!!! I hate returning things.

Three weeks! :yay:

Bev

I just called DCL to let them know DH and I are celebrated our 15th anniversary on this trip, and asked them about Pirate Night. He told me it's still night 4 so we're still doing Palo on Night 5 and celebrating our anniversary then. Yay!!

I just ordered a sun hat and a small carry bag to keep with me on the boat for my KTTW card, chapstick, sunglasses :) I ordered luggage for the kids weeks ago and just got myself a new messenger bag for the plane. I think my planning shopping is gonna cost me as much as the cruise!!

Returning things always costs me more money! I always see something new to buy!

I bought some dresses for dinner and tried them on for DH tonight - he didn't like most of them :( I loved one so I'm gonna keep it anyway. :rolleyes1

Marla

Marla,
My SIL teaches at Barry. I have a DS who will turn 9 in June and my nephew is 9 now. Would you like to have the boys email a hello? Daniel (my DS) was excited for another boy since this board has lots of 9-10 year old girls. He was feeling left out. Too bad you missed our meet at the aquarium two weeks ago. 5 families met for a few hours. The pictures are a few pages back.
