Hi everyone!
Well, I thought I was covering my basis with sanitizing everyone that came into contact with us, when DD and DH were playing a game on the trampoline on Sunday and she landed wrong and we both heard a 'snap'.:scared1: Of course, I was hysterical, running a few red lights (thank goodness it was a Sunday afternoon and slow streets) She is screaming, I am ready for divorce court and DH is freaking out. So, we get to the ER and rush her in... They of course were busy in there, but, within 30 minutes of getting there, they already had her on morphine. And asking me if I want a little something to calm my nerves. The Doctor walks in and takes one look at it and says that that is a nice break. I proceed to break down crying and telling him that we are to leave to fly out next Friday for a Disney Cruise!!!! He takes me by the hand and tells me, it will be okay. She will just be in a cast.:sad2: So, he splinted it and told us to go to a surgeon by Wednesday. The splint is way past her knee and we have to carry her to the bathroom and anything else. If you look past a couple pages, I had mentioned that she is a bit delayed, so crutches is out of the question. I thought, there is no way I can do this next week!! Well, we saw the surgeon today and he is going to sedate her tomorrow morning and set it and cast her. They are putting her in a below the knee, waterproof, semi-walking cast! Making it red and putting glitter in it so the characters can all sign it!! I didn't know whether to thank him or just invite him with us:rotfl: He said to go home and pack! So, I am not entirely going to get too excited until I see it and make sure she isn't in any pain. He said by the time she wakes up tomorrow, she should not be feeling as much pain and by next week, to hop and skip with the cast on! So, I will keep everyone posted!! Keep your fingers crossed for us to be there next week!!

Karen

Karen,

Wow, you've been through quite a bit there!! What a scare!! I'm sure by the time she's onboard, she'll really forget it's even there!! Good luck!!

Wow did I miss your post. LOL! It is hard to figure out where you leave off reading sometimes.

Well, I can just tell you that I am almost positive your daughter is going to receive some extra special attention on the cruise--from the cm's, the characters and all the kids. Make sure she saves some room on the cast for her disboard friends.

You should have told him to make it a lime green! HEEHEE. Ok--I can laugh and I am sure in a year you will also. LOL!

Good luck with the rest of the week.

Deb

hannahguad, I am so sorry about your daughter. I hope she is going to be without pain and discomfort.
I don't want to be the bearer of bad news but sometimes the characters will not sign casts. They will do arm casts almost always but the leg casts are too hard for some of the more popular characters to bend down to sign. They will try but I don't want your daughter to be crushed if a character can't sign it. It isn't that they don't want to it is just they can't. I hope she can get a lot of signatures though.
You are going to bring a pillowcase or something to bring to guest services, right? That way whatever characters can't sign the cast can sign the pillowcase.
I am confident you will be on the cruise with the rest of us.

Does anyone have fish extenders for our sailing and has anyone done a count of how many rooms are represented?

Karen, I am so sorry to read about your daughter, as Skuba2 wrote I am sure she will get lots of attention.

Karen, I am so sorry! I hope everything goes well! At least the Doctor is going for the waterproof and walking cast, that should make things easier. I know when my daughter broke her arm a few years ago, the Doc said he had never heard of a waterproof cast... :confused3

Karen,

So sorry to hear about your daughter. I am sure she will be bouncing around the ship and indeed there will be alot of extra attention for her.

We will keep our eyes open for the red cast on ship

Karen,
Our best wishes for a speedy recovery for your daughter!

I was just reading a "live" thread and our Eastern rotation has stayed the same, Tuesday pirate night. The Master Chef dinner has been replaced with a Golden Mickey menu. There are a few new entree changes. A smores cake sounds yummy from Animator's Palate

Karen, so sorry to hear about Hannah but we are glad she is alright. The girls will look out for her I am sure.

Karen, Sorry to hear about your daughter!!! You always worry about somebody coming down with a cold or the stomach thing you never think about accidents like that!!! I'm sure the CM's will make her feel better;)

We don't have fish extenders. I 'm not even sure what they are?:lmao: We were thinking of decorating our door though.

Kids are just about packed!!!

OMG! What a terrible thing to happen. Sounds like you have some wonderful doctors there. Sending positive vibes! I am sure she will be fine - you on the other hand will need many, many umbrella drinks!

Hey Deb,
Daniel is playing a soccer game in Wilton on Sunday at Merwin Meadows. It was supposed to be a home game for us but our fields aren't open yet.

A fish extender is something that people are making to hang off of their fish mail next to the door. It's where Disney leaves you mail, spa confirmations, Palo ressies, etc. Some Dis groups leave each other little gifts in these hanging pockets. We've never talked about doing them, nor have we exchanged room numbers to make it happen so it's one less thing to worry about packing.

Karen,

I sorry to hear about your daugther. It sounds like the whole event was very scary for her and very scary for you and your husband. When our children get hurt it is so stressful - I have found that it hits me well after I have dealt with the situation.

I really hope that she is feeling better soon.

Fish extenders are something that is hung over the clip that is shaped like a fish so to allow for many "pockets" for messages, photos, etc.

Anyone else scheduled for the jetskis on CC? I just got my call last night that it has been cancelled. I expected it would have been by reading other threads. So, we will be enjoying some sun and water.

We are only doing parasailing ... I hope it's not cancelled!

Quick question---which beach do you guys plan on hanging out at on cc? We will probably split our time between the two. We went to SB last time for the first time and found it so nice and quiet. I guess that is why they named it serenity. LOL!

Our Eco tour was cancelled too, I forgot to mention it in last night' post. I had read elsewhere on the boards that it might be so it wasn't a total surprise. I ended up booking all of us on a banana boat ride in the afternoon. We did one at Atlantis in February and had fun. The price is the same as Atlantis pp.

We found Serenity Beach way too quiet for us. Jim and I tried it in November and after an hour left for the family beach. I like the music and activity. With the family we will tend to sit at the end of the family beach near the restrooms. We find there is more room to spread out the further you walk down. The kids got snorkles at Atlantis and loved it so we'll be dragging them along depending on the luggage situation (we're JetBlue so no restrictions yet). A great spot we found in November after leaving SB was next to the snorkle rental on the family beach. There is a section of hammocks under palm trees off to the side. It was a quick walk to Cookies and See Sells...and you could hear the music. I took a nice nap there, very relaxing.

Everyone that is interested in the morning Dis walk, our first will be Sunday at 7:30 we will meet on deck 4 at the 'track'. Hopefully there is a 'start' line so we have some idea of where to meet.

Hopefully that is not too early :cool1:

we are the first ones off in our group so we settle there and stake out the chairs and wait for the rest of the group to show up. Its close to where everything is. DH and I stay until lunch then we go back to the boat. This year we will take the boys back so the parents can do things with the older girls. The boys need naps!!! Grandpa included.

Hey all, I figured I would post the info that I just got from Verizon about cell phone coverage.

If you want to use your phone while onboard and on the islands, you must call and add International Dialing to your account.

Once you've done this, you will need to update your phone by hitting *228 (send), then option 2.

There are instructions onboard for how to use your phone. While onboard, all calls are $2.49/min. :scared1:

Text messages are $.50 to send and $.05 to receive.

While in the Bahamas, all calls are $1.29/min, St. Maarten all calls are $1.29/min and St. Thomas all calls are $.69/min.

Now if it only works out that way, we'll be in business!!
