April 11th 2009 Magic Eastern Easter cruise--UPDATED WITH ROLL CALL PG 1

So we went to dinner (me, DM and DS), and as we were sitting there waiting for our food...

Me: "What should we do for Spring Break?"

DS: "I think we should go to Disneyland."

Me: "Well, that's a good idea, but that would only be one day. What about something longer?"

DS: "Like what?"

Me: (whips out Disney Cruise Line Brochure) "Why don't we go on a Disney Cruise? Check this out..."

DS: (eyes widen) "Really?"

DM: "Yes, how about a nice big adventure? We'll fly on a plane from here to Florida, and then get on the big ship for a week and go to lots of different places. We'll be on the ship for Easter."

DS: (Madly flipping brochure pages) "REALLY?"

Me: "Yup!"

DS: "So we need a suitcase, and swim trunks and sunblock, and books to read on the plane..." (and proceeds to yap about the things we will need for the trip for half an hour)

We get home from dinner, he circles 4/10 on his calendar, and starts making his packing list (he certainly takes after his mama).

I am going to load the Disney Cruise Line Video Podcasts on his iPod today for another little surprise when he gets in the car after school.

Whew! The secret is out! 29 days to go!

Just kidding, but I could really use something to cheer me up. I was told today I most likely won't have a job next school year.
Oh well, for now I'm going to concentrat on my cruise and try and stalk my UPS man!!

UPS man came just a little while ago. I didn't even have to stalk him.

We are so excited!!!!!!

AnaRN We had cabin 2508 last year on the Wonder. It was a great cabin. You'll love it!

Thanks! I'm a teacher assistant. Oh well, I kind of knew it was coming but I love my job and was really hoping for a miracle. I'm just not going to think about it until after Spring Break! I refuse to put a damper on this vacation!

Good luck with the UPS guy! Tell him we Disney people take our vacations very seriously!

Still waiting on our docs and still trying to decide if we are participating in the FE.

We have 4 rooms and 14 people in our group. I'm trying to decide if I am going to do this for our room only or if I am going to participate for everyone (make 4 FE and bring enough gifts for all the kids to hand out) or just pass . . . although it sound like a lot of fun! If I decide to do this I am going to need an extra suitcase

I would love to do the doc. DANCE, Although i would LOVE to get my rooom number first! We are desperatly counting down the days. Hopefully room number comes sooon! anyone else not gotten their room number yet?

Grumpymom73 - Sorry to hear about your job. I know our district is doing some cut backs too. I am sure something will work out for you.

Ok, I am officially pulling out the suitcases this weekend. I thought I would have all this time, but suddenly in the last two days all of our weekends from now until we leave have completely book up! Therefore time is limited and I need to start now. I updated my packing list and am ready to go. Because life is so crazy until we leave I think we are going to pass on the FE. I hate to be a party pooper about it because it sounds fun, but I don't have the time to get one made and since we are flying we really have to watch what we pack to watch the weight of our luggage.

As for an afternoon meeting...we would love to set on up! 3-3:30 sounds good.

Congrats on the documents -- the UPS guy prolly stopped at our house first and then went to your house!

I'm so sorry about job....yes...I agree....don't think about it until after vacation.

And HOW WEIRD is that you all stayed in the same cabin last year??? AND we both live in Clermont??? Oooooooooohhhhhhhh....

It's good to know that it is a nice cabin....heck...really....ANY cabin on a 7 Day Magic cruise is going to be good.

For Those Pondering Participating In The F.E.​

Please don't feel that you must pack a lot or spend tons of money!!!! Truly....you could pack a bag of candy to pass out during the cruise. Or how about post cards from your city or state? Or make a small, personalized Disney magnet for each family? I think the point of these F.E. exchanges is to HAVE FUN and that the gifts are supposed to be VERY SMALL AND INEXPENSIVE. Also....you do not have to leave something everyday for every family!!!! You could choose to pick one day to leave your gift. If you bring several small gifts...you may want to pick a few days to leave your gifts. Most especially with today's economy such as it is....I don't think anyone is expecting anyone to spend a great deal of money on these gifts.

We didn't get our docs today, but that is good because my oldest was home and would have gotten them and seen the big Disney logo on the outside and my surprise would have gone right out the window. I hope tomorrow I'll be doing the dorky doc dance.

We are currently at 7 cabins/families and 16 kids for FEs confirmed. Let's say the cutoff is the 27th. That would give everyone two weeks to get anything additional they may want for surprises.

Grumpymom73-Very sorry about the job loss. California is cutting back so much on the jobs out here. It's a tough time.

Don't worry about the kids seeing the package. It comes in a very plain white padded envelope.

Thanks everyone for the kind thoughts about my job. I'm not too worried I'm sure something will work out and I know my family has been very blessed and I'm sure the Lord will continue to do so.

Hey everyone! No docs here in our part of NC...I saw the UPS truck go up and down our street a couple times and I swear he was just doing it to taunt me! LOL!

I'm so sorry to hear about the job loss...I know many teachers in our area are also unsure about their job security. When I first started teaching many many years ago the economy wasn't in the best shape (tho probably better than now) and it seemed like teaching was a recession-proof job...at least no one was getting laid off back then. It's scary when even those jobs aren't secure. Of course as a parent I'm also concerned about my child's education since less teachers will mean larger classes and that means less individual attention...guess I better start thinking about the possibility of tutoring my own child down the road!

Here's to hoping that we are all doing the document dance tomorrow! BTW, does it look something like this?!
