We're almost there. I can almost feel the sun and sand of Castaway Cay.

What do you think about a fish extender for this cruise? It's my daughters first cruise ever and my first Disney cruise. We have been reading about the fish extender and it sounds like fun.

Are you cruising alone with you child?

No, I will be cruising completely solo. No child, no significant other. Just me doing whatever I feel like doing. I cruised solo one other time and it was absolutely marvelous! I'm fortunate that I get lots of vacation time but unfortunately much of my family and friends don't have the means or time to travel, so I've recently started traveling solo instead of spending my vacation days at home. Last fall, I tried WDW solo for four days and discovered I prefer spending time in the parks with loved ones. It was fun, but just didn't quite have that disney magic I so love. This winter, I took my first solo cruise with RCL and had the time of my life!! I love disney and I love solo cruising so I didn't hesitate to book this cruise. We'll see how this experience turns out ;)

Hi everyone, add 3 more :)

We were originally booked for September but decided to change it to this one instead since it was surprisingly inexpensive for our Spring break. My DS (11) and I did this cruise back in September for his bday, this time around his dad will be joining us. We have also done the Magic and the Wonder previously.

Since you have cruised with disney before I was wondering if you had participated in a fish extension?

We actually have not done the FE. There was one on the cruise we went on in Sept. but we did not participate. The people that did do it went on and on about how fun it was though.

Well I think it would be fun... I dont mind organizing it if no one else wants to do it or know how to do it... Its my first disney cruise so bear with me LOL

Can you please explain how it works? This is our first disney cruise. We don't have a stateroom assignment yet because we booked a GTY VGT room.

Here is an explanation of what a fish extender is....
Fish extenders. Bet you dont know what those are. Unless, of course, youre a Disney Cruise Line alumni, in which case youve probably either participated in the fun, or at least seen fish extenders hanging in the stateroom hallways.

Named for the decor from which they hang, fish extenders are usually handmade pocket organizers (similar to a shoe caddy or mail organizer) customized with names, favorite Disney characters, etc. These pocket organizers are hung from a decorative fish ornament that is attached to the wall outside of each cabin on the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder.

Disney fan enthusiasts like myself frequently gather online prior to upcoming cruise vacations. We form groups and friendships long before the cruise actually sets sail. We make arrangements for all sorts of meets and activities, including private wine tastings, group port excursions, and gift exchanges. A fish extender group is basically a gift exchange, albeit with a little extra pixie dust.

Prior to the cruise, fish extender groups are formed and organized via an online Disney fan site. Once numbers are finalized, each member of the group prepares a gift for the other participating cabins. There are no rules regarding gifts (no minimum or maximum dollar value). Often times, the gifts are handmade, but not always. Once the cruise has commenced, participants deliver their gifts to the other participating staterooms, leaving them as a surprise in the fish extender pockets. One of the most fun aspects of taking part in a fish extender group is checking in throughout the day to see what little goodies are waiting.

If you want to participate then you can fill out the form and just put gty in the stateroom box. You should get your room number a week before we cruise.

wow we finally got this booked VGT so do not know where we will be
we are on the 4 night 4/7/2013 so may have to move no big deal they always help you. love doing B-B we did a tripple B-B-B in
Feb 11 days in a row 3 Nassau days 3 island days great
hope to see all donald 1403

completed 42 Disney

14 Magic
12 Wonder
03 Fantasy
13 Dream

our goal is to complete 50

We've sailed all but the Fantasy...which ship would you say is your favorite? We really liked the Wonder (maybe because it was our first Disney Cruise) and we liked the Magic. While the Dream is beautiful we tend to prefer the smaller ships with the smaller crowds.

Ok guess no fish extender. Everyone is saying no bc they don't want to spend the time on a shorter cruise doing the gift drop offs. I hate it bc I told my daughter all about it and its not only her first Disney cruise but her first cruise ever. Kind of disappointed bc she and I had already begun thinking of what we would make for everyone. Maybe there will be people to participate next time.

Sorry we will not be participating in the fish extender this trip. I have on online shop where I make cupcake toppers and I have to get ahead on my orders before the trip so with such a short window of time, I just do not have it to get gifts together. :(

Just a though but maybe you could still hang up your extender and add little gifts to it for her each day. I know she won't have any to make and hand out but maybe getting some will help?

I've sailed all but the Fantasy too and also prefer the smaller ships.

We are sooooo excited about our very first Disney Cruise! I have just learned about the fish extender program and we are going to hang one up. We will bring treats for others, I imagine many folks knowing about the program but maybe not about this discussion board.

Simply cannot wait to set sail!

This is our first cruise also!!! Here is the link for the fish extender sign up...
