April 1 - 8, 2006 - Magic - Eastern

in just a little more than 5 months we'll all be cruising! That's right in a few days we'll have less than 5 months to go, who's ready? We certainly are!

jnc1970, sorry it took me so long to respond back, sorry neither of my kids regularly use e-mail to correspond -

We are ready too!!!! Hopefully the time will go by quickly. I am a little concerned that my DD (7 years old tomorrow) won't have a good time. She's been on two cruises (1st on Princess, 2nd on Carnival). She LOVED the 1st one, but didn't enjoy the second one as much -- especially the kid's camp. She's been to Disney World one time (4.5 years old) and enjoyed it, but didn't really talk about it much when we returned home and hasn't asked to go back. Any suggestions on how to get her excited? It would be great if she could meet or talk to some girls her age prior to the cruise.

goofydadeo...Have you decided where you're staying on the 31st. Are you driving or flying?

I'm new to this message board, but I love it. The people here are so nice...and helpful.

JoeLisaAllison - your DD is going to love the kids club. Disney does a outstanding job for all ages but especially the younger kids - in fact our DD7 asked if we could go again before she turns 8 because she wants one more visit to the Oceaneer's Club. The kids clubs are the reason we have done so many DCL cruises!

We will be driving down, it only takes about 7 hours, and we usually spend the night in the Orlando area, then we have only a 30-45 minute drive to the ship on the day of sailing.

goofydadeo -- I'm glad to hear that your DD love the Club so much. It makes me feel better knowing that. I know that some of the kids dress up like Cinderella, Snow White, etc. Will my DD feel out of place if she doesn't do this? She's really into the Lizzie McGuire and That's So Raven thing right now.

We usually fly down the day before, but I think we're going to drive this time. Let me know if you find a good place to stay. I guess we should start working on this now.

We've been on 4 cruises, but never Disney. With prices the way they are, I'm not sure we could afford to cruise Disney every year.

My DD is in to Lizzie and Raven as well. She only dressed as a Disney Princess on one cruise when she was younger - so your daughter won't feel out of place by skipping that - it's mostly the younger girls who do this, so no matter what she decided she'll be fine.

We usually stay at one of the airport hotels (we tried the Raddison and it was fine) but prefer to stop over in the Orlando area where hotels are cheaper and more plentiful. We stayed a couple of times around the airport and a couple in the Lake Bunea Vista area. Both work out great because it is only a 45 minute drive to the port the next morning.

Disney has continued to get more expensive every year and with our kids getting older we may be going less frequently or going on RCCL.

Hey, Cruisers. My family, DH, DS10 and DS8 will be joining you on the Magic. We have cruised The Wonder twice, but this is our first 7 day on the Magic. Would love advice about the 7 day cruise. Anyone else concerned about it being Spring Break and the crowds in the ship?

Welcome Allears7!
Based on what others have said, I don't think the crowds will be an issue. I'm anticipating a full ship, but I've be reassured that it won't feel crazy and crowded. After all, there's only so many people they can put on a ship. ;)

Welcome Allears7!

I agree with Mousecrazy about the crowds. I'm sure it will be a sold out cruise, but hopefully it won't seem that way.

This will be our 5th cruise...1st on Disney. We can't wait!!!!!!

Hello All! One more cruise coming your way! My DH :earsboy: , DD4 princess: , and I :earsgirl: will be cruising the Carribbean with you! Hopefully, we will be going with my DB pirate: , DSIL :earsgirl: , and DNieces 10 princess: princess: . We need some pixie dust tho! DSIL just started chemo for breast cancer yesterday and is tentatively scheduled for surgery in March. Dr. wasn't sure if early April cruise was likely, it will all depend on how the chemo/surgery goes.

I really want her to go since the date was picked to cruise with her best friend from Georgia! Whose twin dtrs are best friends with her twin dtrs! From what I understand, it's a pretty large group and we are linked up with them.

We got our book from DCL last weekend and have started dreaming of excursions. I'm way to excited for a 7-day! The 4-day was fun, but this will be even funner! :earboy2:

This was recommended by my brother, so I decided to jump on and see who else is cruisin'. This will be our second Disney Cruise, and it'll be me (DD), DW, and DS7. We'll be joined by my Sister-In-Laws family, their DD, DW, DD15, DS12 (these are cruise time ages, but I'm not absolutely certain on the age of my niece and nephew at that time :confused3 ). We we're on this exact same cruise two years prior, and booked before we got off the boat. Now that it's only a few months away, we're starting to get geared up. Looks like some of you have been geared up for a while; postings go back a long way.

If you haven't been before, you'll love it.

We just signed up!!!!!!!! It was a "last minute" decision. Woo Hoo. It is sort of a graduation present for my DstepD.

Hey ColtsFan - we are from Westfield!

Look's like Indiana may be well represented on this cruise. I think I saw someone from Ft. Wayne as well.

Good morning everyone! We're going on the Disney Magic 7 day cruise that leaves on April 1st too. This is our first Disney cruise! I've got TONS of questions.

1st question is how do I learn all the rules and abbreviations for posting on this site.

Looking forward to getting to know you all!

Linda

Welcome aboard Linda!!
If you have any specific questions, we would be glad to answer. Hard to believe its 90 days away. I booked in Oct 2004 it has been a long wait.
Jessica :earseek: :earseek:

I'd also be happy to try to answer any questions I can. A few things may have changed since our last cruise the same week in 2004, but I'm sure it'll be a great time. We are really getting geared up for it, and just watched a Disney Cruise Vacation segment on the travel channel earlier today.

As for the abbreviations and such for this site, I'm not much help there, because I'm a pretty new visitor, and I've already found flaws in some of the abbreviations I've tried to use. I couldn't locate any "cheat sheets" on the site.

We're totally ready and are flying down on Thursday evening, March 30th, to spend an extra day in the Florida sun before starting the cruise. :cool1:

Thanks.

I just went online and booked Palos ressies, mani and pedi and registered my kids for the clubs. This is soo exciting!!!! :jumping1: :jumping1:

Thanks for your kind responses.

OK, to begin with, what do DH, DD and DS stand for? I'm thinking that it has something to do with husband, daughter and son but what is the D for?

This will be our first Disney cruise and only our second cruise ever. The first was our honeymoon 15 years ago and it was wonderful (Celebrity - Horizon).
In addition to me, my husband and 9 and 5 year old daughters will be cruising too! I'm a little nervous about checking them into their clubs without each other and without me, but I'm trying not to let them know. They don't have seperation anxiety- but I do!!

I read on one of the posts that there is a refrig in some cabins, how can I find out if we have one?

Our travel agents says we're wait listed for the first dinner seating. Does anyone know how we can get confirmed?

and the the biggest question of all? What am I supposed to wear???????? One night of our last cruise was really dressy. Will there be a night like that on this cruise?

Thanks! :cloud9:

We're addicts of the "Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World" when we travel to WDW on land. Is there a similarly good guide book that anyone knows of for travel at sea?

Thanks!

Linda :hyper2:
