>> April 1, 2012 - Disney Dream Spring Break Frenzy! <<

Today is a slow day at school, so I got to get on here during my prep!!! :)

Yes leather man sandals are fine.
Thanks, Debbie!!

Also, Deb T., I don't even know you, but I feel like I love you! You are so full of great information! Thanks so much for everything that you share!!

Just wanted to remind everyone that most of the "cruising tips" out there were started when DCL consisted of just the Magic and Wonder. There are things on the Magic and Wonder that aren't on the Dream, and vice-versa. I quickly skimmed through the link above and wanted to point out some of the differences:

-The Dream has actual refrigerators, not cooling boxes. :woohoo:
-The Dream has one electrical outlet beside the bed.
-The Dream's bed is set higher than on the other ships, so all luggage will easily fit underneath.
-The Dream doesn't have the oval coffee table that could be raised/lowered instead, it has a chest-like table with extra storage inside.
-The Dream has queen-sized beds, and it's reported that they cannot be separated into twin beds.
-Hair braiding on the Dream is on deck 11 not deck 9.
-Concierge stateroom doors on the Dream are not magnetic.
-No tape at all is allowed anywhere in or around your stateroom anymore. It was causing too much damage. Magnets, only, may be used.
-I believe they don't stock those little cereal boxes anymore. Cereal is dispensed from larger containers. You could probably bring some sandwich baggies if you'd like to take cereal to snack on later.
-Drink station is on deck 11 on the Dream.
-I don't think there will be a Character Breakfast on our 4-night sailing. Those are usually only on the 7-night and longer itineraries.
-Cove Cafe is on deck 11 on the Dream.
-Diversions is only on the Magic and Wonder. The Dream has D Lounge and The District... not sure which one has the equivalent to Diversions, though.
-Goofy's Galley/Scoops is Eye Scream on the Dream.
-Lumiere's/Tritons is Royal Palace on the Dream.
-Parrot Cay is Enchanted Garden on the Dream.
-Topsiders/Beach Blanket is Cabana's on the Dream.
-Pinocchio's Pizzeria is Luigi's Pizza on the Dream.
-Pluto's Dog House is Tow-Mater's grill on the Dream.
-Preludes, Rockin' Bar D/Wavebands, are all part of The District on the Dream.
-No Sessions/Cadillac Lounge on the Dream.
-Flounder's Reef is It's a Small World Nursery on the Dream.
-I don't think the kids' clubs do a "graduation ceremony" on stage anymore.
-Shutters photos are displayed in "books" on the Dream, so "stacking photos" is not necessary anymore.
-The Deck 4 Galley window is only on the Magic and Wonder.
-The carpet on the Dream does not have red/blue anchors. It has a globe where north point forward and south points aft.
-There is no secret aft deck 7 location on the Dream.
-2 and 1/2 laps on the walking deck equals one mile.
-I don't believe Guest Services has the Mickey Challenge Sheet on any of the ships anymore.
-The laundry does not take quarters anymore - just your KTTW card.

Thanks Deb.

Just to help out. Diversions on the Magic and Wonder is a Sports Bar so it would be the equivalent of 687 on the Dream.

Gosh, you all are making me blush! Thanks for all the love! :flower3:

I just enjoy talking about Disney... anything Disney! :) And if I can be a little helpful along the way, it's even better! :)

Christopher, thanks for the 687 info. I didn't spend any time in there last year, so I wasn't sure if it was set up the same as Diversions with games and snacks all day.

Family Activities and games in 687 through the day.....Adults only from 9 PM.

Not sure about snacks.....though Vista Café with snacks is not too far away on the same deck.

Hey All
Read this yesterday and just downloaded the app - MOBILE MAGIC is now available for iPhone!! I had this app two years ago (I think) when it first came out and was only available to people who had verizon wireless and didn't have a smart phone. I think I paid $10 to download the app on my LG phone. We were traveling during 4th of July week and it was awesome. If you don't know anything abou the app - you open it when you are inside a park and it will show you the real accurate wait times (what is reflected at the ride) AND the fast pass return times (what is reflected at the rides)!! It is not like undercover tourist or touring plans where it's a combination of typical and user input. The information comes from Disney. It use to be that it was only for Verizon Wireless but it looks like it is available for all users of iphones - Sprint and At&t included. Verizon customers get added material with the app. I am a Verizon customer but all I am really interested in is the wait time accuracy, especially with the new fast pass rules and going during Spring Break! The app was free too, by the way!! It is not available on the iPod touch or iPad...course don't know who would bring an iPad into a park. But you need to have a data connection and since there is no wireless in any of the parks, the app wouldn't work.
Anyway...just giving you all a heads up!

Debbie

My BIL-to-be had this for his phone a couple of years ago too and it was great the day we all went to the Magic Kingdom! So helpful. A co-worker of mine has it too for her phone and we used it all day the last time we went together. Makes the day a little easier to plan on-the-go!

Hey All
So for those of you who weighed in on the IB Language topic for my son...
We just got back from the Welcome and Registration night and he had to pick his classes. So at the beginning he chose Chinese 1st and French 2nd by the end of the night he changed his mind! He is taking advanced Math and Lang Arts, wants to continue playing the violin and all that with Chinese seemed like a lot for middle school student. We spoke with the French teacher and she was really nice, plus then he learned they go to Quebec; next thing I know he is switching his choice! We'll see... It's only middle school, he can take another language in High School and College even.
I am so ready for this cruise. Found myself daydreaming of the Dream today during work... How am I going to last another 31 days??!!
Debbie

You all know I'm OCD right with you, so I've got similar stuff going! :thumbsup2

Different topic: any Kingdom Keepers readers out there??? I've read all 4 books, and we are reading them aloud to our kids as a family activity (as quickly as we can...on book 2 and want to get through 4 in the next 5 weeks - whew!). Guess I know what our reading time in school will be spent doing! Anyway, I just read today that the official release date is Apr. 3 - while we're on the ship - and it's confirmed that this book takes place on none other than...The Disney Dream!!! :woohoo: Unfortunately, we'll miss the book signing by a day. Ridley Pearson will be in town on March 29, 30, and we arrive on the 31st. Oh well...but still, that will be a sweet souvenir to bring home, so long as Disney has enough in stock down there that week. So excited for this one!! :yay:

How funny! I just read that on AllEars tonight and posted about it on the FB page. Wonder if they will sell it on the ship???

Wow, your kids must have been pretty upset! For Dad to have the day off and they don't, that's tough for a kid. :rotfl:

As far as being friendly to Wolverine and Spartan fans...hmmm...the Spartan one will come easier, and we'll start practicing with the Wolverine thing...maybe...:rotfl2: Just kidding! ...sort of... :rolleyes1 Hey, it's a tight Big 10 bball race, what can I say right now...other than O - H - :cheer2:

In all seriousness, I think these kids are going to be making some super fun friendships. I know mine will want to keep in touch with kids long after this is over. Ahh...getting soooo excited!!! :)

I was thinking I should include some maize and blue on one of our FE gifts

Totally off topic, but I just had to share a big relief off my shoulders. All Jazzercise instructors are required to get evaluated/monitored annually in order to keep our franchise and certification. They are "surprise" evaluations...you know the general time of year that you're due, but you don't know when it happens. I've been stressing because I've been due since the beginning of the year, and I REALLY wanted to get it done before we leave for the trip, and not the week of the trip when my brain will be drifting off towards vacation! Well, she showed up tonight, and I'm thrilled to report that I not only passed, but got a hard-to-get "outstanding" rating! :cool1::banana: I realize that this isn't the most exciting news in the world to you all...I just wanted to share because for me, this was one huge item to check off my to-do list before I could really relax and focus on the trip. Woohoo!!! :woohoo:

That's all...time to crack the whip on the planning now!!!

Intro French lesson still available if you like. Seriously though, glad to hear that hurdle is jumped and now you can focus on the trip.

Hurrah!

Thanks, ladies!! It's amazing how much relief this has brought me. I didn't realize how much it was weighing on me. Now I can go in to teach tonight not being paranoid that the evaluator is there (though, she's super nice, so it's nice to see her...just nerve-wracking!!). One major thing off my mind, so now I can focus on fun!!!

Hey Erin!
Saw this on Facebook last night before I went to bed.
Congratulations on your achievement!!!! :woohoo:  :yay:
One of my friends teaches Jazzercise here in MD but I have never taken a class. Wish I had the time for it!

Debbie

Congrats Erin!

Happy Leap Day everyone. I personally am hoping for some exciting Leap Day mail....

Thanks again!! Debbie, you should try to make some time for it if it interests you! It's so much fun. I started almost 10 years ago just to get the baby weight off. Figured it'd last a few months. After 8 years of being a student (more than a few months, huh?!) they talked me into getting my certification. Now I get paid to exercise, and I can't make any excuses not to go (unless I really am sick or have a trip or something). I actually already have all my classes subbed out for the trip, so I don't need to worry about that. :woohoo:

Another sad trip to the mailbox at my house today. :sad1: Starting to get frustrated!! Soon, I know...

Big News!!!
I finally solidified my dining plans for the five days in Disney after the cruise and got rid of all my extra reservations! I am no longer a hoarder!!
Here is our plan after the cruise
Thursday - Hollywood Studios Fantasmic Dining Package with Mamma Melrose (new restaurant for us)
Friday - Epcot Dinner at Via Napoli (new restaurant for us)
Saturday - Magic Kingdom Dinner at 'Ohana ( new for DH and I, not new for the rest of the crew they went in November and loved it!)
Sunday - Animal Kingdom - Easter buffet dinner at Cape May Cafe
Monday - Magic Kingdom - last day :( Traditional lunch at The Plaza and then stroll out to make our way back to the Swan and our trip home!
This makes me so sad to type! I have been a very lucky girl this past year. Four trips to WDW since April of 2011. Loved having an Annual Pass, but it is over!! DH says we need a break! No more Disney in 2012. I have to start plotting 2013...
