We're right there with you! My parents got theirs today (they live a mile from us, so it's not a location thing). I wonder what the method is as to when they are mailed to whom, or if it's totally random. Definitely keeping the kids far away from the mailbox right now!!

Virginiafam... did they come Fedex or regular mail???? We don't have our's yet but I know that they are on their way.... WHEEEEE

WDWExpress--We received ours by US mail--we're in Virginia. I bet yours will arrive this week. Fingers crossed.....

I moved this list since it was buried about 10 pages back now and will try to move it up once a week so it is easier to find. Anyone else?

Christopher-Thanks for adding us. How will this work again? I couldn't find all the responses so I'm a bit lost. Are you going to call out a particular place to gather after dinner?

Quick question,I have seen conflicting answers so I thought I would ask the experts of the group....

Can kids wear shorts ( and by shorts I mean long khaki type solid or plaid shorts, not sporty, paired with a polo) for dinner? For dressy night, I assume pants would be best, but I keep seeing a lot of reference to shorts being ok for kids on other nights as long as they are neat and not denim or sporty. Can 6 yo DS wear shorts? How about Tweens?

This is a big controversial issue! The official line is pants, no shorts for everyone...but not everyone follows that rule. You will see all types of dress levels. Connor was 9 last year and I brought two pairs of light pants - khaki and blue. I brought dressy shirts that matched and switched out each night. Pirate night I think he wore shorts, it was definitely more casual that night. The second night is "formal night". That day we were at the Dolphin Encounter and got back late. We had to rush out to dinner - hair not done, no make up, etc... we looked awful. Sitting right next us was a huge group, dressed to the nines. The women had on beautiful dresses and their kids were really dressed up. I felt horrible just sitting next to them. For us - my DH and DS and my dad will wear pants in the dining rooms each night, except for Pirate night. There willl photographers that come around in the dining rooms to take pictures every night. Ugh - the pictures we have of the 2nd night!! :rotfl:
Hope this helps!

We'll be doing the dressier thing, too, but that's because my kids actually love dressing up. :confused3 My husband HATES wearing ties, suits, etc. (he's totally comfortable in slacks in a nice shirt, just no suits), so it cracks us up that our son would wear a suit and tie to church every week if he had his way! He'll probably wear his little Easter suit (no coat, but a vest) mostly because he'll be realizing that he won't be at our church on Easter (doing service at the Contemporary for Easter), and he'll be happy to have a chance to wear it. He cracks me up! :lmao: My daughter loves dresses, and is going to expect to dress up a bit for dinners, especially on formal night. But, that's just my kids. Plus, I hope to get some nice family pics. I do believe it is requested that pants are worn, but not everyone will do that.

My 8 yo DS has been on many Royal Caribbean and Carnival cruises (DCL first timers, though!) and has worn shorts with collared "polo" style shirts in the dining room on non-formal nights, no problem. On formal nights, he won't wear a tie (or tuck his shirt in and wear a belt) so he is in khakis, a buttondown, and sport coat. Often, he eats with the kids club and doesn't even join us in the dining room at all, so whan I pack for him, I stick with nicer shorts and polos that can go into the dining room if necessary. My daughters (10 & 12), ususally wear dresses or "scooter" style skirts. Remember, Disney is not in the business to tell you no, and will probably never question anyone's attire because they do not want to create any negativity on your vacation.
No documents here in Georgia yet.

Dang it, my travel agent said there wouldn't be a dressy/formal night due to only being 4 nights. Now I'll have to find something for DD who HATES to dress up. Orchestra concerts are such a joy, let me tell you. :headache:

Hoping to get documents tomorrow when I head back to my PO Box and check. It's really getting here fast, isn't it. Next thing you know we'll all be socializing over dinner or drinks, perhaps our kiddos will all become best buds and start a penpal thing after we all return~ :woohoo:

There won't be a "formal" night, but Monday night should be more of a dressier night than the rest. Cruise casual Sunday and Wednesday, pirate Tuesday, dressy Monday. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but we're planning to dress up a little on Monday, just because we can. :thumbsup2

Hey All
Read this yesterday and just downloaded the app - MOBILE MAGIC is now available for iPhone!! I had this app two years ago (I think) when it first came out and was only available to people who had verizon wireless and didn't have a smart phone. I think I paid $10 to download the app on my LG phone. We were traveling during 4th of July week and it was awesome. If you don't know anything abou the app - you open it when you are inside a park and it will show you the real accurate wait times (what is reflected at the ride) AND the fast pass return times (what is reflected at the rides)!! It is not like undercover tourist or touring plans where it's a combination of typical and user input. The information comes from Disney. It use to be that it was only for Verizon Wireless but it looks like it is available for all users of iphones - Sprint and At&t included. Verizon customers get added material with the app. I am a Verizon customer but all I am really interested in is the wait time accuracy, especially with the new fast pass rules and going during Spring Break! The app was free too, by the way!! It is not available on the iPod touch or iPad...course don't know who would bring an iPad into a park. But you need to have a data connection and since there is no wireless in any of the parks, the app wouldn't work.
Anyway...just giving you all a heads up!

Debbie

RemoCat you are right... last year I was surprised by the way people dressed on Monday night!

Copied from Disney Cruise Line Documents...

Question
What should I wear to dinner?

Answer
Dining Dress requirements vary by venue or theme night on your cruise. In general, most meals are "Cruise Casual"—no shorts, swimwear or tank tops. Most cruises also have special theme nights with additional attire requirements. Here's a breakdown of these events by cruise itinerary.

On 4-night cruises:

First night: cruise casual—no shorts, swimwear or tank tops (SUNDAY)
One pirate or tropical night (deck party) (TUESDAY)
One "dress-up night"—jacket for men, dress or pantsuit for women (MONDAY)
Final night: cruise casual—no shorts, swimwear or tank tops (WEDNESDAY)

On "Dress Up" night we didn't really know and so we were cruise casual - nice clothes that went with Disney requests but certainly no jacket for my Dad. I know that this year - Dh and my Dad will not wear a jacket on Monday night but will be dressed nicer than the other nights. Hope this clears up confusion.

Ok, this may be asilly question, but. . .
Can my DH wear "leather" man sandals, not flip flops to dinner? Or do we need to pack a pair of closed toed dress shoes? It seems a little silly to pack then for just dinner since there's no way they will be on his feet otherwise! :rolleyes1 I will if I need to!

Yes leather man sandals are fine. I saw plenty of them and that is what I got Connor to wear too. He was not happy with having to wear "church" clothes to dinner but he felt better with the leather sandals. I also bought some cool button down short sleeve shirts for Connor from Old Navy before we left for the cruise. They were dress shirts with designs but that had small pirate skulls, etc... A little bit of a boy in them so he didn't feel too "dressy". I would not be able to get my DH to wear closed toed dress shoes on the cruise either.

I thought we could simply decide on a rotation before we sail so that everyone would know even if they did not express interest and just happened to want to join in.

But also, if I have the Cabin Numbers for those on the list, I can either call and leave a message or stick a little reminder card behind the fish outside the cabin door.

Open to ideas.

I tried scrolling back a while but couldn't find a time and location for our group meet. We would really like to participate to give the adults and the kids time to make friends! Has this been finalized yet?

Still no docs here but mailman doesn't arrive for another hour!

Thanks for putting this together! You should be able to get room #s from the FE list that Deb will send out. If you need any help organizing, I've got time. :surfweb:

Thank you Erin and Deb for the tips on the dining and outfits. Wouldn't want to be out of place! :)

We got our docs in Vegas yesterday!!! :dance3:

I went through all of the packing site from the Sheldon family and this is a site I found that I thought had some cool info!!

Jen's DCL Cruising Tips TONS of information! http://www.manullang.com/DCLcruisingtips.htm#_Toc147805681

Happy researching!!

Just wanted to remind everyone that most of the "cruising tips" out there were started when DCL consisted of just the Magic and Wonder. There are things on the Magic and Wonder that aren't on the Dream, and vice-versa. I quickly skimmed through the link above and wanted to point out some of the differences:

-The Dream has actual refrigerators, not cooling boxes. :woohoo:
-The Dream has one electrical outlet beside the bed.
-The Dream's bed is set higher than on the other ships, so all luggage will easily fit underneath.
-The Dream doesn't have the oval coffee table that could be raised/lowered instead, it has a chest-like table with extra storage inside.
-The Dream has queen-sized beds, and it's reported that they cannot be separated into twin beds.
-Hair braiding on the Dream is on deck 11 not deck 9.
-Concierge stateroom doors on the Dream are not magnetic.
-No tape at all is allowed anywhere in or around your stateroom anymore. It was causing too much damage. Magnets, only, may be used.
-I believe they don't stock those little cereal boxes anymore. Cereal is dispensed from larger containers. You could probably bring some sandwich baggies if you'd like to take cereal to snack on later.
-Drink station is on deck 11 on the Dream.
-I don't think there will be a Character Breakfast on our 4-night sailing. Those are usually only on the 7-night and longer itineraries.
-Cove Cafe is on deck 11 on the Dream.
-Diversions is only on the Magic and Wonder. The Dream has D Lounge and The District... not sure which one has the equivalent to Diversions, though.
-Goofy's Galley/Scoops is Eye Scream on the Dream.
-Lumiere's/Tritons is Royal Palace on the Dream.
-Parrot Cay is Enchanted Garden on the Dream.
-Topsiders/Beach Blanket is Cabana's on the Dream.
-Pinocchio's Pizzeria is Luigi's Pizza on the Dream.
-Pluto's Dog House is Tow-Mater's grill on the Dream.
-Preludes, Rockin' Bar D/Wavebands, are all part of The District on the Dream.
-No Sessions/Cadillac Lounge on the Dream.
-Flounder's Reef is It's a Small World Nursery on the Dream.
-I don't think the kids' clubs do a "graduation ceremony" on stage anymore.
-Shutters photos are displayed in "books" on the Dream, so "stacking photos" is not necessary anymore.
-The Deck 4 Galley window is only on the Magic and Wonder.
-The carpet on the Dream does not have red/blue anchors. It has a globe where north point forward and south points aft.
-There is no secret aft deck 7 location on the Dream.
-2 and 1/2 laps on the walking deck equals one mile.
-I don't believe Guest Services has the Mickey Challenge Sheet on any of the ships anymore.
-The laundry does not take quarters anymore - just your KTTW card.
