>> April 1, 2012 - Disney Dream Spring Break Frenzy! <<

Hi SpartanDIS,
75 degrees here in Georgia today!

We are travelling in a group of 30, 10 of which are girls. Of those 10 girls, 5 of them are between 9-11 and will be in the Oceaneer Club together. Please tell your daughter that there will be plenty of tween girls for her to be with. We are also main seating and are on deck 9. We'll be on the lookout for you so that your daughter will have friends.

BTW, our group also has 3 boys in the 6-8 range so your son will be just fine as well. We would hate for siblings to be stuck playing together on the Happiest Cruise Ship in the World!
Michelle

I'll read that to her - because she probably won't believe it if I just tell her. :)

They are both looking forward to making new friends and both are very outgoing. They will be happy to know that there are lots of kids their age. They are looking forward to the clubs.

The snow is on the way here. We're supposed to get 5-8 inches overnight. The kids are going to be with dreams of a snow day.

Another young lady in our group. Our daughter turns 10 on March 7, so she'll still be a "new" 10. Our son is 6 1/2, so another match for your son. These kids are going to have a blast!!

Jealous of the snow! We feel rather cheated this year down in Columbus, Ohio. Haven't had anything major (more than 2-3 inches) and no snow days (I homeschool, but my husband is a public school teacher, so we keep hoping he'd get a day off). I'm starting to give up hope of any good snow storms this year. :sad2: Oh well, at least we have an AWESOME vacation to look forward to!!!

:woohoo:Fedex just delivered our cruise documents! :woohoo:
Very exciting to have all the confirmations and I (in a very OCD way) was very excited for it to be in a bound A5 size folder (DH wasn't quite so impressed!)

DD (11) is off sick from school today and I think she is going to be testing me on when we need to embark, disembark, with what paperwork etc as she is getting as 'OCD planner' as I am!

And we have two 9-11 girls too - I don't think there will be a shortage of friends to play with on this cruise :goodvibes

I had not even thought about watching for documents in the mail. I kind of thought that with all the online check-in stuff that that was all that was being done now.

My last DCL cruise was through a US based travel agent who was also on the sailing so I just received the packet when I arrived at the hotel to check in the night before as she left it there for me rather than mail it.

But if there is the possibility of receiving something in the mail......I am super excited!

Yikes...I'll have to keep my eyes and ears open so I can intercept the package...It is clearly Disney-fied, or is it a plain Fed Ex envelope? I've already banned the kids from getting the mail (they don't really know, but rather I just don't ask them to get it for me). We did get our Magical Express tags in the mail yesterday for our trip down the day before. It is getting very real!!

hold on did I just read someone is jealous of snow!?!?!!?!?!?!? I've lived in Wisconsin my whole life, you can come and get all the snow you want. I'm a huge fan of global warming, if it wern't for college basketball ( Go Marquette!!)I would have no use for January, February and March. I only need snow on Christmas day and thats it. Ok rant over...

Only 5 weeks till the we head to Florida and my first stop is the pool at the Resi Inn. We got the kids Ipods to load up with games and music to hopefully reduce the "are we there yets" we shall see how that works out. The mrs however forbid me from packing until March 1st, but we reached an agreement to start the packing list on Sunday and I can start packing my stuff on Monday, how kind of her.

We have already started praying for great weather, calm seas, and well behaved children. Everything else we can deal with. How many days again...

Spartan Dis, you can add another 10 year old to the list! My DD will be 11 in June, so she really feels like she's getting cheated our of the tween club! I told her that she will make great friends. It does seem like there are several 9-11 year old girls!!

Deb T - Thank you so much for sharing your daydreaming with us! :lovestruc
I loved reading each installment and have read them out loud to my DH and DD! (Wonder how many more times I'll read them before we leave?)
Thanks for helping to increase our anticipation!!!

BE SURE TO GET TO THE MAILBOX FIRST

My FedEx envelope does have a small reference to Disney Dream on it. But I think that the FedEx may be just for those of us living abroad. Inside the FedEx envelope was a another sealed envelope that has DISNEY CRUISE LINE in big letters on both sides that contains the documents. Something tells me that for those of you in the USA, that is the mailing envelope you will receive. Just don't want your surprise to get sprung too soon RemoCat.:scared1:

Thanks for the heads up!! :thumbsup2 I had thought I had remembered just getting the book in the mail when we went on the preview sailing last year, so I was a little surprised when I read about Fed Ex. Didn't think about it being overseas, though. I actually think the mail is safer (as far as keeping it from the kids), as I always think to get it before they even think to ask. Plus, our mailbox is across the street and they need to ask to go get it (and the answer is no for now!). When the Fed Ex or UPS guy rings the bell, they are always nosy! I started keeping them from the mail a couple of weeks ago just to be safe, but didn't really expect anything before next week. Just got today's mail, no envelope yet, just the ME luggage tags yesterday. Can't wait!

Yes, I'm jealous, and not afraid to admit it! I've lived in Ohio my whole life (aside from college and then 3 years spent in Texas), and I'm accustomed to several good-sized snow storms. NOTHING like further up north around you, just enough to make things pretty, close things down for a couple of days, and make life slow down. As the wife of a school teacher, the extra days off are always a bonus, especially if it's around one of his several crazy weeks during the year (he's a band director, so obviously no snow days during football -too early- but concerts, contests, etc. this time a year get crazy and it's nice for him to be forced to slow down). With homeschooling our kids, we actually still have school on snow days, smaller holidays, etc., so they can be done by mid-May. They'd much rather be out early than have a random day here and there. :teacher:

I just want one good storm, enough to go sledding, close school for a day, light the fire, and just chill out...literally. Today, we're just getting some CRAZY wind. Bolted everything down outside, and waiting to put the trash out since everyone else's is blowing all over creation!!!

Mine says that the information regarding excursions etc, is current as of printing on 20 February. Which of course I have made additions since then.

Not sure how what the order is that they print them. Perhaps international is first, perhaps it is based on Castaway Club level or Booking Date, or deck.....really not sure.

But EVERYONE can be on the look out now for the little booklet with the Luggage tags and everything!!!

Here we have arrived at our Ski Week. A week off which means I can do my Spring Cleaning early and start my packing since I will be away for the Spring Break.

But funny enough it has gotten warmer and all the snow at my level has melted away. They are expecting it to get a bit slushy on the slopes....thank goodness I am too scared to ski anyway.

But I have lived in places with and without the snow so I can appreciate the joys and pains of having it or not. Right now I would not mind it because that would make the knowledge that I am coming back to work after Spring Break with a tan:woohoo: even more exciting.

Christopher....

Question.... are you still planning on taking the Atlantis Sea Lion excursion? What other excursions have you signed up for?:goodvibes

I sure am. I decided to hold on to this one for sure. That's all I signed up for in Nassau. That gives me a new experience and then I have some time to do some shopping in town (max an hour) but then back to the ship for the rest of the afternoon.

I did sign up for parasailing on Castaway Cay as well. I have never done that so I am nervous and excited.

I did manage to get a Palo Brunch on the Sea Day. Recently added early Palo dinner on first night. Not sure if I will go or not since I would be all alone but went ahead and got the reservation for now.

What about you??? Anyone else?

Christopher

We signed up for the Sea Lion excursion and then plan on visiting the casino for a few minutes.:rolleyes1

And we also have dinner @ Palo on the last night. Other than that - we plan on just "going with the flow" and see where that takes us. I would like to check out either the champaign tasting class or the mixology class. For these classes it sounds like I will need to visit GC quickly once on board to check availability.

Anyone else planning on doing any excursions?:cheer2:

A great strategy to cure the "are we there yets" while driving on a long trip is to give each child their own map and a highlighter so they can each keep track of the trip's progress! :) We belong to AAA and would get maps from there for free. When our kids were really young, we would call out major cities as we passed through them and then the kids would highlight the distance along the corresponding highway. As they became older, we made them figure out our route and locations on their own by reading the highway signs and mile markers. Both ways were great "map skills" learning opportunities. Eventually, our kids were able to predict (almost to the minute!) the exact time we would arrive on Disney property! They especially liked figuring out how far we had traveled while they slept.

You can use the same map down and back if you give them a yellow highlighter for the trip down and then a different color highlighter for the trip back. The highlighters can do "double duty" if you bring them onboard the ship and use them to highlight activities on the daily Navigators! :thumbsup2

Anyone else planning on doing any excursions?:cheer2:

Our Nassau excursions will be "The Midship Detective Agency", "Aqua Duck", and "Exploring Culinary Options Onboard". :rotfl2:

Our CC excursions will be "Rest and Relaxation on Serenity Bay" and "Exploring Culinary Options on the Island". :rotfl:

Sorry... I couldn't resist. ;) Nassau is a "been there, done that" destination for us (10 times!), so we're just planning to hang out and enjoy the ship. As for CC, well... that truly is "heaven on earth" to us and we love :lovestruc sitting on the low chairs at the water's edge with our feet in the water, listening to the gentle lapping of the tiny waves while gazing out at the vast expanse of the ocean. DH tends to snooze most of the day away (completely relaxed far, far away from his stressful job) and I usually read a book. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh... can't wait!

Last year, during the 4-night sailing that guarn3md and I were on, the Aqua Duck was experiencing technical difficulties during our CC day and the captain received word that it was likely it wouldn't be operational on our Sea Day. So, to make up for it, he decided to take us back to CC instead of doing the day at sea! :woohoo: DH and I were thrilled with the unexpected surprise double-dip! The down side was the activities that are only offered on sea days were canceled (Palo Brunch and the Galley Tour), which had some people very upset. IMHO, I can eat a nice big brunch at several restaurants near where I live, but I can only get to CC while on a Disney cruise. I was particularly grateful because I know that there have been many sailings when they were unable to dock at CC due to adverse weather conditions, so it truly is a special day when we can spend extra time on the island. :goodvibes Oh, and guess what, Maintenance was able to get the Auqa Duck fixed after all! :)

Just checking in to say hello!

Anyone know how the FE group is progressing? We have two rooms involved and asked to be in separate groups, but I am wondering if there is enough rooms yet for two separate groups.

I really need to get going on the FE gifts....and make an FE!

Also need to figure out how I am going to pack in two bags without exceeding Spirit's ridiculous 40 lb weight limit....
