>> April 1, 2012 - Disney Dream Spring Break Frenzy! <<

We were on the dream last year, and the NCAA final was shown in 687 (pretty good crowd), but was also played on the funnelvision big screen on deck 11. The pools were covered and all the deckchairs pulled over to give great views of the game. There were waiters up on the pool deck taking drink orders. Too bad Butler could not hit anything during the game or it would have been even better! The game was not available on the stateroom TVs.

My buddy and I will likely be in 687, especially if a big ten team is playing.

I got a check-in at 11 am. I hope it's not too crowded! My in-laws to be are at 11 and 1130 and my parents and sister are at 12. I'm really looking forward to this big trip with the family!

I have a few teacher friends going on this cruise too, but only one will be on spring break and the other will get 2 breaks (one the week before the big state test!) My future niece and nephew are getting lucky and get 2 weeks in a row off for this trip!

Has anyone stayed at any of the hotels near the port that offer the shuttle service? We're looking into a few hotels and found out the Radisson has a shuttle but it only includes 2 adults and we have 4. Also, has anyone tried the parking near the terminal that's not at the port? Just trying to find out some cheaper alternatives for our guests! Thanks!!

Any room for a Boiler here in the group?

Boiler up! I grew up in Lafayette.

Attended freshman year there before transferring to Ball State. :thumbsup2 Hoosier born and bred!

Oh, and I'm also a :teacher:

Small world! ;)

So this cruise has a ton of teachers and it looks like all kinds of people from the midwest, Wisconsin here. But not a Bucky fan at all, no worries.

Regarding the hotels, we booked the Residence Inn. I read some posts on a DVC owners message board that the Holiday Inn Express, The Courtyard and Radisson get slamed with people trying to get on the shuttles as they are all larger hotels. Regarding the shuttle I called because our stay & cruise package only included 2 tickets for my family of four. They said they will charge an $6 per adult however after some sweet talking it sounds like kids can just hop on.

Too funny that this seems to be a midwest/teacher group! I'm certainly not counting our Buckeyes out of the Final Four, as they're still looking pretty darn good from here, but I've also been a Buckeye my whole life and realize that things don't always go our way. If they are playing in the final (or whoever it is, if we're interested in the game/teams), we'll be on the pool deck, then. Will have the kiddos watching with us if the Buckeyes are playing, so no sports bar for us...

Starting to look more seriously at FE gifts...overwhelming, but fun!!

Ha! Could be interesting depending on how the rest of basketball season goes! The night before the cruise is the Final Four night (we'll be in Magic Kingdom - our only day at that park on this trip, so this is a bit stressful!!), and the championship is day 2 of the cruise. Sure would be fun if we could cheer our Bucks on in the Bahamas!! :cheer2:

My hubby's a public school teacher, too - definitely a teacher group here! I homeschool our kiddos, so I'm a semi-teacher, I guess. :confused3

Oh boy! I didn't put that one together, we are in the same boat (and ship:)
we have only one day Disney, we actually had 4 days post cruise booked, but I couldn't get airfare home any day after the Thurs we get off the ship for under 600pp (for 5 of us). So we are coming in on Friday and hanging our at hotel pool and probably taking boat down to Downtown Disney, then Saturday in the park......if UM is in final four, dh will be trying to talk me into ESPN zone, lol! We are more into UM football, season tickets, etc. He did do a basketball game last week, and of course they watched the UM MSU game on tv the other night:-)

Ok did some research and yes they have bikes with training wheels available, no need to reserve just ask at check in, or so I have been told. No tandoms however.

And I wouldnt get too excited for a Final 4 run by anyone from the Big 10, pretty sure they will all be done by then...us fine folks in the Big East might have more to be worried about...but in either case I'll be in the sports bar Monday night watching the games, I'll assume I wont be the only husband up there.

Yeah, UM usually doesn't get too far in basketball. For our sake I am hoping they are out of the picture by then!

FE gifts....hmmm maybe something maize and blue???:)

Ha! :lmao: I do have several Buckeyes here that are begging to be turned into a craft...hmmm....;)

The final four is the only day we're at Magic Kingdom, but thankfully not our only day in the parks. We are able to return to the parks for 4 days after the cruise, but we're not schedule to be in MK...trying to stay far away from there on Easter weekend.

Anyone have any idea why my messages' time frame is off? It's off by like 45 minutes...it's weird. I'm on eastern time (duh, I'm obviously in Ohio - ha!), but even a different time zone doesn't make sense. My posts aren't posting in order since the time is off. Ideas?

Which side of Indy? Maybe we went to the same HS!!! :)

Looks and sounds like a fun group! On vacation today, so decided to start to work on my FE gifts....... now if I could just figure out a way to include some Scarlet and Gray........

Hope everyone has a good weekend. Watching the Weather Channel and it looks like the snow will be falling soon.

What part of the state? We're in a suburb of Columbus. No flakes yet, but I'm expecting them anytime.

Ha, might have a few scarlet and gray inspired FE items... :)

Hi Christopher! Glad to see you came onboard. There's a whole lot more stuff in this cruise meet thread.

Looks like the Atlantis Sea Lion Encounter was sold out when I checked in. :( Maybe we'll do dolphins. DD will be happy with anything, thankfully. :woohoo:

Hi Shelli, just looking around on the DCL cruise planner and it is showing availability for the Atlantis Sea Lion Encounter for both times of the day. Maybe you might be able to get it after all. Take another look. Availability on these things changes frequently.

EXCELLENT! Thanks for letting me know Christopher! :worship:

All, check out this tread on "insider" tips! I found lots of good stuff!!

:cool1:

Here is my "Top Ten" list of helpful things you can start doing now to prepare for our Dream cruise. ;)

10. Start serving all breakfasts and lunches "buffet" or "food station" style.

9. In the mornings, make a 3-tone chime noise, then make the following announcement in your best British accent: "Ladies and Gentlemen, Girls and Boys, in 2 minutes time the forward door will open for all guests to disembark for school. The weather today is going to be (insert your weather, i.e. cold) so be sure to take your (insert necessity, i.e. hat and mittens) when you debark the house. And remember, "all aboard" is at (whatever your curfew is). Have a magical day!

8. Set your children's artwork out on display in the living room, add a row of folding chairs for everyone to sit on, and then auction off each piece of artwork to the highest bidder.

7. Step outside and lean on a porch or deck railing, gaze wistfully out at your landscape, and comment on how amazing it is that the ocean is spread out before you for as far as you can see.

6. Start "checking" your children in and out of their playroom. If your children want to leave the playroom before you come to get them, tell them they must stand in the doorway and make beeper sounds until you arrive to get them.

5. Draw the DCL logo on tall plastic cups and drink your favorite (alcoholic) beverages out of them.

4. Every night, perform a turn-down service for everyone. Place a tiny chocolate bar on each pillow and leave a schedule of the next day's events and a towel animal at the end of each bed. Oh, and don't forget to set chocolate chip cookies and a glass of milk on the nightstand (from Room Service, of course!).

3. Every evening, make your family line up outside the dining room to wait for dinner to begin. Before they are allowed to enter, make sure the table is set and their favorite drinks are poured and waiting for them. Hand each family member a hand wipe to use before they enter. Oh, and of course, have a 4-course dinner prepared and ready to serve.

2. Also every evening, gather everyone in front of the TV for the evening entertainment, a Disney movie, of course!

And the number one thing to do to help your family prepare for your cruise
1. Every Tuesday night, have everyone dress in full pirate gear for dinner. After dinner, dance around wildly while talking like a pirate. Arrrrrrrgh
