April 1 2010 cruise meet

DebT - thanks so much for your advice about rebooking! I love your lengthy answers -no need to limit them!! :thumbsup2

We enjoyed the cruise to Mexico... each of us had a 24 hour "bug" while being on there...I think it was going around. Cabo was our favorite port. I loved when the ship would pull out of the port & there would be hundreds of people standing waving goodbye as the ship sounded its horn (when you wish upon a star!). I'll have to look back at my photos and see if we might have crossed paths. Looking forward to Spring Break (and Bingo)!

Are we on the same Northern Europe cruise (July 18)? That thread is sooo long, I can't keep up with it. I'd better get started on making a FE!

I also caught that darn bug, but mine lasted only about 12 hours. One of our friends was down for 24. I knew the ship must be having significant virus trouble when they roped off the 24-hour drink station and put a cm there to distribute drinks and when we weren't allowed to serve ourselves at the buffets. I was also very surprised I caught it because I'm a compulsive hand washer and never pass up the opportunity to use a hand wipe.

We'll be debarking in Dover on the day you embark. Sorry we'll miss you!!!

I have another question...will my boys (ages 7 & 4) be dressed up enough for dinner if they are wearing nice khaki shorts and a collared shirt or should I plan on pants for them?

You just hit on one of the touchy debates that frequently get started on the main cruise board. :rotfl:

In my most humble opinion, your kids would most definitely be appropriately dressed wearing khaki shorts and collared shirts. :thumbsup2 The 3-night cruises are very informal, even in the dining rooms. Our dinner dress code for all three nights is "cruise casual", and I believe khaki shorts falls in that category. You'll actually see a wide variety of clothing at dinner. We've seen men wearing bathing suits, all ages in jeans, and all ages in shorts. No one is ever turned away... not even on formal night on the longer cruises.

The airlines lost our luggage for five days when we were on the Mediterranean cruise in 2007 - and Formal Night was on the second evening. Since all our dressy clothes were in the lost bags, we thought we weren't going to be able to experience Formal Night. However, we were encouraged by everyone we encountered that we should go to dinner and have a good time. And wouldn't you know, not one person seemed to notice or even care that the four of us showed up wearing the blue jeans and shirts that we had worn on our flights to Europe (which were the dressiest things we had with us). I thought for sure that some of the elegantly dressed people would look at us disapprovingly, but that never happened! :)

Only 22 days to go!!!!

Hi Everyone!

I just wanted to remind you that the cut-off date for joining the Fish Extender Exchange is one week from today, March 20!

For anyone else considering joining, the FE exchange is very easy and a LOT of fun! Here's a recap of what it involves:
Before you leave for the cruise:
*Buy or make little gifts for each cabin (some people give a gift for each person in the cabin, some people do one gift per cabin - it's totally up to you!)
*Make or buy your Fish Extender. Your FE can be anything, just as long as it can hold a few treats! I use a small canvas bag, but many people have gorgeous personalized hanging pockets (very similar to hanging letter holders).
*Print a copy of participants so you'll know which cabins to deliver your gifts to.
Once you're onboard the ship:
*Hang your FE from the silver fish clip outside your cabin door. (It is recommended that you secure it to the clip with a zip tie to keep it from "wandering".)
*Whenever it's convenient to you, deliver your FE gifts to the other participants.
*ENJOY peeking inside your FE to see what surprises have been delivered to your FE!

Here are the Fish Extender Exchange Participants so far. Please double-check to make sure your names and cabin number are correct:

One more very important note:
If you receive an upgrade at the port, or change cabins for any reason, please be sure to let the rest of us know. You can do this one of several ways:
- Tell us at the DIS Meet on Thursday
- Put a note indicating the change in our FEs or on our cabin door
- Put a note indicating the change on your original cabin door
- Call each room and leave a voicemail to inform us of the change

See you onboard soon! pirate:

Started planning our FE gifts and I'm really having fun with it! Although we have cruised DCL 4 times before, this will be our first time doing the FE exchange and I know the kids will really enjoy it (and probably the Adults just as much!) :cool1::cool1:

I was lurking on another thread for the cruise date we were originally considering before this one and I can tell you, in comparison, OUR GROUP ROCKS!! :grouphug:

Won't be long now and we'll all be on the Mickey Boat! Whoop-Whoop!

I think ppiew is correct - that this has to be a record for FE Participants on a 3-night cruise! :woohoo: It's going to be amazing! Everyone will definitely have to empty their FEs several times each day just to make room for more deliveries! :goodvibes
