We will be taking Garrett to Ann Arbor tomorrow to see an eye plastic surgeon. He is needing to have surgery to "open" his eyelids. He was born with ptosis (paralysis, basically) of the muscles of his eyelids, so he cannot open them all the way.
When he was 6 months old, he had surgery on his right eye. The left was not bad enough at the time to require surgery. Now, the left is bad enough and the right needs to be redone.
This time, it will be a little more complex as they use fat from his legs to fashion a "sling" to hold his eyes open, so he will be hurting in a more than a few places.
I am not sure when the surgery will be or if they will do both eyes at the same time.....should know more tomorrow.
