Also, is this an Outdoor show? If you don't have the package, how long in advance should you line up to get seats? Thanks!

From what I've heard in various guidebooks they say to go extermely early in advance as it is a very popular show. They recommended up to 2 hours early!!! If you do this, they say to try to buy dinner to eat in line or in there, so it passes the time faster. Or you can make the dinner reservation package and you get guaranteed seats for the show. Fantasmic takes place outside on a river I believe. :sunny:

Where are the best seats? We have been to disney 6 times in the last 3 years and still haven't been to Fantasmic. We want to every time, but haven't made it. It is kind of a standing joke now.

This is the best show. The show is maybe around 30-40 minutes (just estimating) If you are going at a busy time of year - yes- you have to line up early. In fact, if I were going during peak times I would probably break down and buy the [over priced IMO] dinner package.
If MGM isn't crowded you can head over there about 30-35 minutes before showtime and get a seat.
It is outdoors and I guess the best seats are in the center - but if you are too far down in front you may get wet.
The show is great- don't miss it.

I don't think it's any longer than an hour and there really isn't a bad place to sit, except the front few rows might get sprayed with water. It's nice to sit higher up anyway, plus you are closer to the exit to leave.

I really recommend the dinner package. We did this last time and are doing it again at the end of the month. You can choose from 3 restaurants, Mama Melrose (Italian), Brown Derby (a little more upscale) and Hollywood and Vine (buffet) all very different (you have to eat anyways) and as long as you are there 1/2 hour before the show you can walk right in the back door (plus you get to sit for the 1/2 hour instead of waiting in line for 2 hours.
The seatings are usually a little earlier (I think ours is at 4:30) but then you have time to walk around the park more - when everyone else is eating!

I made PS'S for Hollywood & Vine, but the Dinner package is sold out.

Keep trying. I've read from a lot of people, that they were able to change times/dates as you get closer. Also try 48 hours out. That is when you have to cancel by, in order to avoid a fee.

That is what I'm hoping to do. My DD wanted to eat at Mama Melrose, but they were sold out. Got Brown Derby, but at 3:45 in the afternoon. Kind of early for dinner. Hoping to change- either to Mama Melrose, or a little later Brown Derby.

We did the package a few years ago, and it worked out great. The lines were outragious :earseek: :earseek: without the package.

Actually the show is EXACTLY 30 minutes. It doesnt change, remember, it's on a soundtrack so the actors go to the pace of the soundtrack and the track is EXACTLY 30 minutes.

We just went last week-amazing. We got to our seats about 25 minutes before the show started and were sitting about 3/4 up in the middle section. By the time the show started the place was packed! And it lasted 30 minutes. Have fun!
