Can anyone tell me if shorts would be appropriate at dinner for 15, 17 and 19 yo nephews who will be cruising with our large (29 of us) group next month? I have been before but have two daughters and did not pay much attention to what the boys were wearing!! Any suggestions for what they should wear?? Thanks:D

Shorts are not appropriate for any age in the dining rooms --- except on Island Night.

On your daily Navigator -- it will specifically note the request that shorts NOT be worn in the dining rooms.

My son had a couple nice pairs of cargo type pants in neutral colors. They were zip off pants! He would wear them to dinner with a nice shirt and zip them off before heading to common grounds after dinner. (zip the BOTTOMS off so they were then a pair of shorts)
:D

I would think at those ages they would be expected to dress as adults. Shorts are not allowed at all.

HI We were on the Wonder in Feb. My 15 yr. old son & 11 yr. old nephew both wore khakis with short sleeve button down shirts, the tropical shirts are great too, very colorful!

Hey Wovenwonder.

I agree, those zip-off-leg pants are terrific as they satisfy dinner dining needs and my DS9s preference. They also came in handy on a few shore excursions!

We just got home from a 3 day cruise with my boys 19 and 17.
They are jeans and tee kind of guys but for the cruise I asked them to please dress for that 1 hour. I went to target and got each a pair of chino's (black and tan) and two polo type shirts on celearnce for less the $20 buck cause unless someone dies they won't were them again for a while LOL. They wore the same clothes each night but they were only in them fro a hour so that was fine but you could get 2 shirts for a change.

I'll use Senor Ferrari's line....not to sound like a complete jerk....
but if you expect girls of any age to wear dresses, shouldn't you expect the same "level" of attire for boys/ young men? If not then you are setting a double standard......just my two cents.

Our three teen boys wore nice Docker style pants and polos or tropical shirts to dinner. Of course after dinner the pants came off and the shorts went back on. For formal night I had them wear dress pants, button oxford shirt and tie but no jacket. They enjoyed the formal night, probably because they were eyeing the girls in the fancy dresses;) Kathy

DS (who'll be 11 when we cruise) wears chino-type pants and a collar shirt to school (public, 5th grd). The pants have elastic waist so they are very comfortable. I bought him 4 button down tropical shirts last year and hoping they still fit. If not, he'll wear what he has.

DH? who knows? and this time around I really dont care.
