Hi all, quick question on paying resort bill with a Disney GC before check out. I’ve done this several times before but wondering if I have to have the physical gift card with me, or can I just bring the numbers on the card?

I have a card with a large balance ($1000) so was wondering if leaving at home would be safer, if that is an option. Tks!

I have not tried this, but I have a feeling it would not work. Hopefully someone else can confirm.

What I do for safety is bring several empty gift cards with me that are registered to my account and I also have my card that has $ on it registered. I keep them in various places, one in luggage, one in purse, one in my husband's wallet. That way if my card that has money ever gets lost I can transfer the money to the empty card I brought with me.

Ah, that’s a great idea! Didn’t even think of that. Thanks!

You can give them the numbers. It works.

They can manually enter the gift card numbers. I have a gift card that doesn't have a magnetic strip. They have to enter the numbers by hand. I would think that they could do that if you give them the numbers.

You can also do what I did last week when we were staying at POR. I brought an empty gift card with me to the resort. Just before I went to the lobby, I went to my Disney gift card account and transferred the funds to the empty gift card. Then I gave the CM the gift card that now had the funds on it. It worked perfectly and I didn't have to worry about losing the card. :)
