I’ve herd that white card members don’t get a physical card and instead use a digital one on the website. Does DVC support Apple Wallet and whatever the equivalent is for android users for DVC membership cards? It seems like it would be a pain to have to get out your phone and log into a website… or do you not ever need to show it for anything?

Nope.

You can take a screen shot of the digital card on the member website. Digital id cards will have an expiration date of 3 months from the date it was displayed on the member website.

Those with a white member id card are only eligible for VERY limited number of perks. Pool hopping (if it returns), TOTWL access (if it reopens) and DVD rentals.

That’s kind of a bummer… seems like most companies support Apple and Google wallet now days.

The card was never a card that was scanned or tapped. It was just used as an identifier. Even with the digital card, you are supposed to still show photo ID so you are still digging through your wallet.

Apple just announced state ID cards for Apple wallet as well… not sure what the first states to support are though… they didn’t say

Not sure there is a big advantage to Apple Wallet over having screenshot handy. However, our local zoo has started using Apple Waller for their APs.

Screen shot. Easy.

Lets not wish for additional complications for DVC.

As mentioned it's not a scannable card anyway - it just has to be seen.

You can open Apple wallet anywhere including the Lock Screen by pressing your side button twice

Check out the app, Key Ring, you can use it to log in your DVC card number and include pictures of it. We have used it for years for all those stupid loyalty cards so you don't have to carry the physical cards any more. The app is scanable at most registers and we have shared the login with our kids so they can use it on their phones and now they never miss a discount either.

FYI for anyone else wondering this. I found an app in the App Store called pass2wallet that can be used to add a DVC card to Apple wallet… has a bunch of templates specifically for dvc. 🤗

The iOS notes app is a good place for it too. I use notes extensively and have a DVC folder. My card SS is a pinned note there.

Plus a photograph gets buried deeper and deeper in your photo albums every time you take a new picture. The card in the Wallet stays in the same place. Always.

You can create a new album in the Photos where you just save important things.

I also was going to say just put it in a new album. It'll always be right there.

Then you always have to switch albums to look at your trip photos or access the ID. Because the Photos App was not designed to serve this purpose and the Wallet App is.

Why are people invested in arguing that a kludgy work around is just as good as an elegant solution designed for a specific purpose? It's not. You can use it, when companies refuse for absolutely no good reason not to implement the Wallet. But it's demonstrably inferior. If it were just as good we would all use Photos for credit cards, airplane tickets, reward cards, affinity cards, and event tickets. But we don't, because it's actually a second rate, inferior, and less secure experience.

No, just place the screenshot of the ID. Why would you place all your trip photos with it? It's easy and it works and it doesn't require another app. I can be in there in the same amount of time so does it make a difference?

Apple Wallet isn’t really “another app” it’s built in to IOS itself. It’s meant to be a digital wallet and works very well. You don’t even have to unlock your phone to access it. You can even set a scanner to automatically call for a card or even just automatically get what it needs when you hold your phone near it. It’s basically the same thing that Disney is doing with MagicMobil… Why not do the same with DVC?

Sure, it’s not the end of the world to use a photo or notes app. But it’s not the best most convenient experience… it wouldn’t even be very hard for Disney to support Apple wallet… so why not offer people that convenience? If some people are fine with using their Photos app, then that’s fine too.

I also wouldn’t mind seeing a DVC app. Or else have DVC integrated into the Disney World and Disneyland apps. Yeah the mobile website isn’t bad, but an app would be better and could offer things that a website can’t do as well… such as not needing to log in, notifications, integration with calendar, photo, messages, and many other aspects of iOS… l’m not very familiar with android but imagine that it would offer similar benefits on that side.

I don’t want Disney to simply offer an experience that’s good enough, I want them to strive to offer the best experience possible (which sometimes means multiple options).
