Apple Slicers

I know this is going to sound a bit weird, but would I be allowed to bring in an apple slicer to the parks? Just the kind that you push down on top of the apple and it cuts the core out and slices the rest of the apple... My daughter has a hard time eating whole apples, but can eat them if they are cut up. I know a knife would be prohibited. Yes, there are other healthy snack options, but my daughter is a bit of a picky eater.

If you're buying the apple in the parks, I think some places offer to cut the apple for you. I'm thinking specifically of the caramel apples - I know I have read that before. I would be curious to know if every place that offers the caramel apples will slice them for you. That is a treat I actually have yet to try, and I'm hoping to soon!

It doesn't have a blade that can be used like a knife. I think security might give you an odd look, but not confiscate it. Maybe put it in a baggie with the apple you want to use it on, so security understands why you have it.

The original idea was to buy the apples at the park if we could find them. We are staying at the WL so we might have to just get some from there. Unfortunately, no caramel apples for the kiddos... the orthodontist would have a fit and I really don't want to have to deal with broken brackets on vacation. :)

The Karamel store in Germany at Epcot does this. There might be nothing more delicious. Well, maybe the warm, fresh caramel popcorn!

Would she eat the prepackaged apple slices that are found in the grocery stores? I won't buy them often because of the expense but I will buy them for traveling when I can't bring a knife with me.

Yes, we do buy those prepackaged ones here at home on occasion. I just don't know where I would get them there without making a special stop off property. We are flying in late the night before (we don't land until 9:30 pm) and we are using the Magical Express buses. That's why I was thinking I could just pack the slicer and we could use it at the parks. But, I may throw a stack of small ziplocks in my suitcase and we can try slicing them at the room if we have to using the apples we get at breakfast.

You will not have any trouble finding them. They are available at most quick service restaurants as a side for a kids meal or most of the produce snack carts, along with grapes and other healthy options.

This. Especially if you were just going to buy whole fruit in the park anyway, might as well just buy the pre-sliced packaged variety.

You could also place an order from a grocery delivery service and have apples and breakfast foods in the room. I'm not sure if they'd let you in with the slicer or not but as others have mentioned the pre-packaged apple slices are a side for most kids meals.

You can also find the packaged sliced apples inside all the Starbucks within the parks I do believe.

And for the question on if certain locations will cut the caramel apples, every place will. They normally won't offer to cut it for you, you just have to ask. But every place that sells the speciality apples can cut it and put it into a clear box

They had the little mini packs with grapes at the food hall at POR when I stayed there last September so I imagine you would be able find them at most resorts

Put the metal slicer in a pants pocket before entering the park.
Problem solved.

I've carried in my 3" Swiss Army knife in my pocket into every park, every day of our trips for years.

Thanks everyone! It's been a few years since we have been to WDW so I didn't know the prepackaged ones were available. We were at DL last summer and all I remember seeing was the whole fruit on the snack carts. The things we do for our kids... even when they are teenagers like mine! LOL

Definitely apple slices available. The apple slices with the little tub of caramel is one of my fave things to get at WDW when I want a snack but don't want another cookie or cupcake.

I think the grab and go section of The Mara (quick service restaurant at Animal Kingdom Lodge's Jambo House) had those small packages of pre-sliced apples, but I can't swear on a Bible. OP, where are you staying? If you tell us the hotel, somebody might know if the hotel's gift shop has them.
