I understand that you get an appetizer, entree, dessert and non-alcoholic beverage. I was just wondering if in place of the appetizer you could get either a soup or salad. Price seems to be about the same.

Are you referring to the dining plan?

In the first place, it depends on which dining plan you are on. The basic dining plan does not include an appetizer for anyone over age 9 (children's menus include one).

The deluxe dining plan includes the appetizer for adults. At most TS restaurants, soups and salads are considered appetizers, even if they are listed separately from items headed "appetizer." Of course, it's in the end up to the restaurant, but I haven't seen anyone report being denied soup or salad.

we're planning to pay OOP for any appetizer we want to have (we're on the basic dining plan) - DH likes crab cakes that much!
