App & Protocol Update Imminent?

All other system shenanigans aside - the app seemed to have started working again today. However, I've noticed a few odd things pop-up:
- Option for Goofy Sport Deck booking (which has now vanished again)
- Nursery (greyed out - and yes - I know this shows up on the website, but I don't believe I had noticed it in the app before. Also has since disappeared).

With all the rumors swirling around additional changes coming (home PCR testing anyone?) - wondering if anyone else has noticed odd things coming and going. Wondering if a more formal update is about to come through next week?

I really hope it doesn't switch to home PCR testing. That's really expensive where I live. Sigh. I hope they follow Royal Caribbeans lead where you can do either a PCR or an antigen if you're fully vaccinated. Only those who are unvaccinated can only do PCR.

"Vaccinated guests must show a negative COVID-19 test result for a PCR or antigen test taken no more than 2 days before boarding day "

Instead of starting new thread - on the Safe Passage site, a header has now popped up regarding DCL:

Starting on March 26th, Embarkation Testing will change to Antigen.

No updates on the Disney site - not that this makes a huge difference, other than I'm guessing waiting and boarding will move faster.

(home PCR testing anyone?) -

You do realize that those have to be proctored via a tele-appointment and are much more expensive than just buying a BinaxNow test and doing it yourself, right? I'm cool with HAVING a test done within x-days of sailing because those are covered by insurance. But not with paying the amount tele-vitas proctored tests.

For anyone truly concerned about Covid, it could make a big difference. Three of us, varying severity of symptoms, 6 home tests, all different brands, all negative. PCR tests - all positive. The antigen tests don’t seem to catch omicron. Less chance of being turned away, for sure!

Saw this myself this morning. Our cruise is March 28 so curious to see how this goes.

The biggest differences are a) antigen doesn't pick up old infections like PCRs can (hence the 90-day exemption), and b) it should be significantly faster. Rapid Antigens yield results in as quick as 10 minutes (I did an at home one recently and it had a clear negative by 10 mins) so theoretically it should mean less time stress-sitting in your car waiting! Downside (or upside I guess depending on who you ask ha) of course is Antigens are less sensitive and can occasionally produce false negatives, but they are still considered to be very accurate and are CDC approved for cruise testing.

For Disney, they are cheaper, faster, and easier to administer. Add that with the fact that case counts are WAY down in most places in the US (for right now) and think that's why they made the move.

Right, I would imagine the 90 day exemptions would go away if they're switching to antigen testing. And yes, they are MUCH cheaper and faster than PCRs with the cheaper part I'm sure being a big reason why the change is being made, along with the general drop in cases and the US desire to return to as much normalcy as possible and just learn to live with a COVID reality.

That switch to antigen testing message disappeared today from the site
