Can you book a room with the AP rate, without having the AP yet?

If goods rates came out I may be able to talk DH into going in Feb and we are also going next Sept, so at that point an AP would make sense ( I think, looking into that) But I don't want to buy one unless I know we're going twice.

Yes, you can book on the phone without having the AP. You just need to show it to them when you check in.

Yes you can book without the AP - but you can not purchase an AP at the resort.........

I've always had to give my AP number or my AP voucher number to book AP rates, of course online but also over the phone.

and to add to the 2nd poster you cannot get the AP at the hotel but we always head to one of the parks and get at guest services, MGM seems to be the shortest lines and if you get there later you can also go to GS downtown.
