Well, we have our first trip home planned for May and are so excited. We will purchase AP's with the $100 discount.

Yesterday, I was reading the details on the "Give a Day Get a Day" promo for 2010 and was excited to see that the 1-day "award" ticket can be applied towards the cost of an upgraded ticket or AP. I was wondering if anybody here knows whether or not we will be able to stack the $100 DVC member discount towards the same AP. If so, then I will be doin' the happy dance!
Would this be done in person at the ticket booths? I've never purchased an AP before.

To whom do you think this question should officially be asked? Guest Services; Member Services? I've already gotten such misinformation in my 1 week of membership from MS that I'm hesitant to ask them anything from here on in. (I was the one who was told that a WL studio Villa is "well over 500 feet") Thank goodness for you guys who set me straight after the CM so grossly exaggerated the studio sizes to me. Thanks to the link that was posted I realized we really do need a 1-BR. Anyway, I'm hijacking my own thread

TIA for any info/advice!

I think you don't have any replies because all the details of the program have yet to be released & this will most likely be one detail that is not decided upon until they face it.

In the past, they have allowed us to combine referral "coupons" for APs with the DVC pricing, but Disney can choose not to allow it this time around.

Personally, I'm interested in seeing what organizations they've paired up with for reporting volunteer hours. My company has a system we use, but I doubt it will be synced up with Disney... Oh wait... Disney's one of our clients. There is hope :)

Since you can only purchase an active AP at the parks or DTD ticket windows, applying the promo ticket would have to be done at the ticket windows as well.

If I were going to guess, I'd say that yes, this can be done with the DVC AP. The AP pass-along discount cards could be "stacked" since the AP isn't sold at full price minus a DVC discount, but rather at an already discounted rate. That sounds like the same thing, but it isn't, I promise. :)

DVC AP passes can also be obtained by upgrading a pass of lesser value, so I would imagine this is what would apply with the promo tickets.

I'd post this on the theme park boards or look at the thread on this topic to see if there's an answer. If there's an answer, Cheshire Figment (a ticketing CM who posts tons of great info) will surely know it.

Awesome info. Thanks for the replies. I will post it on the theme park board to see if I illicit a response from "Chesire Figment!"
:thanks:

I was going to say that I'd bet this ticket will be like one of those promotional tickets that have no value so they can't be used to upgrade. The only value is one admission, no cash value.

Actually, if you read the info that the DIS has regarding the 2010 promo it clearly states that you can upgrade based on the value of a one day ticket.

I did go over to the theme park board and sure enough Cheshire Figment responded saying that yes, we should be able to apply it towards a DVC member rate AP. He clarified that it isn't even considered stacking the discounts b/c the member rate is an actual rate, as opposed to a $100 discount, which makes sense.

A good deal I'd say!! :thumbsup2

This was just one more Disney promo that we're not interested in. There is only one voluntary location listed for my area and we don't care to volunteer there. We may not even be going to WDW in 2010.

FYI #1: It is expected that the terms of the ticket and other options in the "Give A Day" promotion will be essentially the same as the current Birthday promotion. However, there will be no "Fun Card" option or a deferred admission option. Instead, there are two new options - you can donate the free day to charity or opt for a mickey hat figurine and trading pins. The special Fastpass will still be an option. However, finer details COULD change.

FYI #2: Disney does not treat the "DVC discount" as a discount. It is simply a set price for a particular type of ticket that only DVC members can get ("DVC Member Annual Pass" vs. "Tourist Annual Pass" vs. "Florida Resident Annual Pass"). So any offers or discounts can generally apply to DVC APs unless explicitly excluded.

Where did you find the list, it is my understanding that it doesn't exist yet and other organizations can choose to sign up for participation.

I need to know too - many volunteer opportunities coming up with the holidays, it'd be great if even one coincides with the disney program. Although, I expect those ops to "fill up" first :rotfl:

I don't think there is a "list" yet. However, it looks like everything will be handled through the HandsOn Network affiliates, so that might give you an idea.

However, nothing prior to January 1st, 2010 counts. You need to register through the Disney web site starting January 1st to sign up for a program. So it will actually be sometime into the new year before we get first hand details of any of the particulars, unless CF gets them for us sooner :)

This does not provide a filtered list of opportunities or even organzations that are definately participating, rather its just the listings for all available opportunities currently available. There are a lot of unknowns still.

Drop "disney" off the URL, and you can get a better idea, but note that NONE of the details on volunteering are actually known at this point, and probably will not be until Jan. 1st.

Isn't that what I said?

Sorry, I thought you were referring to the lack of information at all in the Disney page at this point.

I don't think you are going to get much more for a while. But you can at least get an idea of what the possible opportunities look like based on what is out there now, since HandsOn appears to be the only network they are working with at this point.

Plus I can't search that web site for any Canadian information. I'd like to get our foundation at work on the approved list (Women's shelters). Does anyone know how to go about that?
