We are thinking about calling in and ordering APs ahead of our upcoming trip so we can speed up the process when we arrive (at least we will have the vouchers in hand). Has anyone done this before through MS to get the DVC discount that can tell me how long it takes for the vouchers to arrive? We will probably only have about 7-10 days between when we can preorder and when we leave. Is it best to redeem the vouchers for our actual APs when we arrive at OKW (or can you even do this at the resort) or wait until we get to the parks? Also, can you preorder the DDE at the same time?

Sorry for all the newbie questions:confused3 but this is the first time that it will be worthwhile to take advantage of APs, and we have always done any WDW meals OOP, so these will both be new experiences for us. TIA!

We have always gone to the gate to purchase or renew our AP's. It usually doesn't take much longer. The part that takes the longest time (only a few minutes) is typing in your name and info from your ID and the five seconds it take to process the payment. Everything else is the same since they still have to print the passes.

When I inquired whether it was best for me to purchase online, they said it doesn't make any difference. The price is the same, and all I would be doing is prepaying. They suggested to just go to the gate. They had mentioned that there are times that vouchers are lost and they cannot replace it so that creates a problem. That has been my experience.

I wouldn't chance it with that short a time. It really doesn't take any longer to get the tickets at the gate than it does to exchange the voucher. You still have to go to customer service to get the actual tickets, and the only advantage I see to getting teh vouchers ahead is to avoid any; price increases that might occur before your next trip.

Thanks for all the advice.:thumbsup2 I guess we will just wait. Hopefully there won't be any price increases in the next three weeks :) especially with the economy as it is. Arrival day will be in the afternoon so I guess expediency won't matter quite as much since I won't be trying to get them in time for rope drop.

According to allears.net, prices for APs were last increased on August 5, 2007. Is it reasonable to expect an increase in August this year? If I order my AP right now from MS but don't activate it until 8/17, would I lock in today's rate?

Yes, I did that last year. I heard about the increase a couple of days before, I ordered a voucher online with the old price and activated it in October.

Nice, thank you!

I've always ordered my voucher online. Both for new APs and for renewals. You actually don't get a ticket voucher when you do it online. You get a certificate to print out and you turn it in for your actual ticket. I do this every six months since our APs are staggered to keep the cost evenly distributed. My daughter bought her APs online last year, the night before the price went up. We all did for our August 2007 trip and saved $100 total. While not alot, it did cover a meal (granted CS, but hey, better my pocket than Disney's). To buy a new AP online you need to do it on the DVC website. To renew a DVC AP you need to do that on the AP website. You will have to provide your DVC membership card when you pickup your actual pass.

Also, like Debbie, I did my renewal in August and used the certificate in October, no problem.

Another option if you are near your arrival date is to call MS, pay for the AP and ask for a will call number.
That is what we did when we went the first week of June.
We just brought the will call number, our licenses and my member id card to the Guest Relations window at Epcot and they finished the transaction from our will call number. It took less then 5 minutes.

Hope that helps. Have a great trip!:goodvibes

I did one Voucher ( so I could get on Passholder sight) and then purchased the other 2 at the gate and no real difference in time I think. If you do I would just do the Vouchers as WillCall like others have stated but that Close unless you here of a price increase I would just wait.

Hope you don't mind my invading your question, but where on the member site can I get the AP's? We are going in Dec so I want to pay for them before prices go up, if they are to go up.

Thanks!!!

Thanks for all the help and advice. I went on Member Perks and ordered the APs using Will Call.:cool1: Our trip is almost here, and getting the ticket purchase behind us just bumped up the excitement level in the house.:dance3:

And now we are locked in just in case there are any impending price increases. Can't wait to go see Mickey!::MickeyMo and get some DIS Dad's Club pictures with Goofy!:goofy: Tomorrow we start the single digit dance!:woohoo:
