AP voucher - added second question below

How long is an AP voucher good for. I bought one for my trip in October hoping that we'd be able to plan another trip before it expired. Now I am sure that we will not be able to go to Disney again for over a year. Can I save my AP voucher for our next trip (18 - 24 months from now hopefully) and just buy a regular ticket for our length of stay. Will I be able to keep my AP voucher and activate it the next time (say between Summer 2006 and winter 2006) or is there a time frame in which you have to activate an AP voucher? Thanks

An AP voucher has absolutely no expiration. You can activate it whenever.

If I exchange the voucher for the actual pass does that activate it or do I need to actual use it to enter a park to activate it?

I have a 3 year old AP voucher in my drawer, but have been using left over hopper days and (a lot) of leftover plusses in recent trips. I am hoping to be able to activate it on my next trip.

I believe the pass is activated when you exchange the voucher for the AP, but if I'm wrong, another DISer will jump in to let us know.

Your use year starts the moment you do the exchange. Using it for admission to a park is not required to start the AP.

At one time, it was activated at first use but that hasn't been the case since the 90's.
