I picked up my first annual pass this past vacation (gave them my Exchange certificate) and all I got was this crappy paper ticket! Is that it??! I thought we got a hard plastic one that was diff and said annual pass?! Is it coming in the mail or something? I have seen them before! why did i get this thing that is going to be worn out by the next time I use it! Thanks for your info:)

If you look on the back it will say DVC Annual Pass or something like that.

The material is reportedly Tyvek. WDW APs have been made of this material for many years now. We've yet to have one tear or wear out. Occasionally one will "demagnetize" but that is a quick fix at the turnstile.

Most in my family get 3 or 4 stays out of each AP.:thumbsup2 APs also take up less space than a plastic card. I think of them as magical not that other word you used.:wizard:

Yeah, it's Tyvek.

My DVC PAP was issued Dec 9 06, and just expired. I got 32 days worth of trips on it, and we park hop a lot.

It's also been through the wash, and had a magnet put next to it (one of those thin fridge magnets, put it in my pocket without thinking).

Nevermind that I tried to tear it (after it had been through the wash), and couldn't. Then on our last day after it'd been used, I tried to tear it again - this time using my teeth.

There are a few nicks here and there... but otherwise it's still a complete rectangle with no tears and worked every single time I went through the gates.

Incidentally - the plastic room key went through the wash with the AP. It needed to be replaced immediately afterwards.

Now, the little paper holder I kept it in... well I went through about 8-10 of those. Only 1 AP, though.

If you have any problems with your AP, you just bring your Driver's license to Guest Services and they will issue you another one. No problem.

It's been said that the heavier plastic tickets on the room keys have more problems than the tyvek (paper) ones.

I've had AP's since 1998, they have been the same material. I've never worn one out.

As far as identifying it as an AP we keep ours in the little book/case it came in. It clearly says Annual Passholder on the outside. Plus the little book tells about all the perks you get.

My book/case doesnt say anything about Annual passholder, I just got the regular magic your way booklet. I think she was half asleep when she did it lol, it was late:confused3

That happens on occasion when they run out of the AP folders. The 2008 version should be out soon. Next time you're at WDW just stop at GS or a ticket window when they're not busy and ask for a new one. Or just log onto the AP site to read the benefits.:thumbsup2 That's what I've done....save a twig and all.

Yep, WYSIWYG (what-you-see-is-what-you-get). While they may not wear out, they can be troublesome. I have had to have mine replaced a couple of times in the past, and although the process is relatively easy, there are times when I go to the parks at rope drop. I do this for a reason, and when I am then forced to spend time trying to get my pass replaced while watching the assembled masses stream in ahead of me it can be a bit frustrating.
