We are buying AP tickets but will be waiting until we get to Florida to buy them. I have reserved a room at AP rates. Since we will be arriving early and would like to check in before going to the park, I was hoping I could check in and then go to Guest services at the park to buy the tickets to save time.

Will they ask me for my AP at check-in?

There are many threads here about that, but I'm pretty sure you need to show at least a receipt that you bought the voucher. Just checking in and saying you are then going to get the pass won't work.

My understanding of what happens in reality is that you will be asked to come back to the desk to show that you have purchased the AP that day...so you could be ok.

If you are flying in you could just take the time to get the APs at the airport as well (they are totally activated so it wouldn't cause you another stop). Get your AP there and then stop at the resort to check in and the off to a park.

I booked an AP rate last week for a July vacation. I have AP vouchers. I was told by two different CM's that they now want to see an ACTIVATED AP at check in! I will have a car, so I plan to stop at guest relations at downtown Disney on the way in to activate my AP before checkin.

We had our voucher but not our activated passes when we went to AKL in May. The CM assisting us at check-in said that he could see on his computer that we had purchased our passes, and that was all that he needed. However, when we stayed at CSR at the end of our trip, we had to show our activated passes at check-in. They were in the car, and dh sent me out in the heat to collect them. I thought this was really strange, but that's Disney for you.

i agree with previous poster. we ordered ap, and it was in computer when we checked in at hotel...

you could go to DD, purchase the AP, then go to hotel and check in.
it is what I would suggest

We did a YC/CR split. I booked my rooms as soon as AP rates came out. Then I ordered my AP, so I had the unactivated voucher in hand when I checked in at YC, and the activated AP when I checked in at CR. Neither the CM at YC nor the CM at CR said a word about the AP. I don't know if it WAS somehow in the computer that I had purchased the AP voucher, or if they just trusted me, but I came away thinking that a person could get the rate without ever buying the AP.

we're leaving in 4 days - booked the Beach Club @ AP rate. We let our previous AP's lapse, they expired in February. I could kick myself for doing that. We live and learn. We're going to guest services @ DTD to buy our passes prior to checking in - they are activated when you purchase them at this location. It's easy.

Only ONCE have I been asked by a CM to see my AP upon check-in and guess what? That was at the Swan.
