AP retail discount, asking to show on MDE

I NEVER go anywhere without ID and phone (which I def need at Disney World). Insurance cards etc can be saved as screenshot. I have a case with a slide door on back I put them in.
Exactly. I'm not sure how one would think that their ID would be safer in a hotel safe?? I don't understand the concept of "I HATE" carrying a drivers license. We aren't talking about carrying around something the size of a oddly shaped popcorn bucket or a lightsaber. It's literally smaller than a phone. Even my teens carry IDs at Disney and they have never lost theirs either.

I mean it is your ID for lots of things but especially should something happen to you. I carry my DS state ID and he also wears an ID bracelet with important contact info. I even wear an medical ID bracelet when we travel stating I am traveling with my disabled son and his info in case something happens to me, so they know to look for him. I don't understand not having an ID on you. Our new driver's licenses have a digital version that is valid in some instances, but not others. Disney requires ID for alcohol and a "screen shot" is not valid. :confused3

I wonder how long it'll be till we have to show it for parking?
They scan your magic band / ticket media for parking so there’s no need to show anything. It’s a different system. No idea why they can’t use whatever they are using to verify AP at parking for everything else.

Almost every time my husband drives, he’s asked for his ID for parking. When I drive, I’m rarely asked. And then I end up leaving my ID in the car by accident because I got it out ahead of time at the toll plaza.

But someone could be using someone else's magic band or ticket media. If they don't ask for ID there is no way to verify that the media/band belongs to the person in the vehicle.

I guess that’s true, I’ve just never been asked for ID when I park. Maybe part of it is that I always pay the extra for priority parking?

Count our party of 10-12 those who never carry our ids to the parks and do feel they're safer staying locked in our locked room in the locked safe.

I guess if you're in a situation where you might be asked for an id for the discount (a shopping day?), perhaps bring it along that day. Worst case, if asked for an id to verify for a discount, and you don't have it - you might not get the discount.

We have actually been asked for ID very, very seldom, but it's not never. I respect both sides, but we're in the camp that our IDs are always with us when traveling, just in case we're asked to provide it, or if by some great misfortune we have a medical emergency......

I have a family member who was asked to show their ID when their magic band wasn't working at gate entry. I realize this is very rare, but it does happen and they can ask you to prove who you are, especially since tickets are not transferrable.

I am not trying to be snarky but I'm really just trying to understand this. Do you not carry your IDs when you are out and about at home? You don't keep a wallet or bag when you go out with family or friends to a local place?

We got here on July 2nd. My app stopped working July 3rd by noon and I haven't been able to use it at all.

This has been the most frustrating part of the trip. I can't buy fastpass, I can't get wait times or mobile order food. I have an AP and DVC and can't pull up anything.

I am guessing you have tried uninstalling and reinstalling your app? As you ‘need’ it since you’re there now, I truly think a call to Disney IT is warranted as you need the app there for all the reasons you mentioned. I would find the time to call 1-407-939-4357 as hopefully they can assist you.

Yes thanks so much! I tried everything. I even called IT who opened up a ticket and called me but nothing has worked. They couldn't really help me.

The only thing that's helped us out is that it's crowded here at all! It's the most dead we've ever seen it here. We are out of state AP holders and we come often

For us they're very different things. I of course carry my entire purse with me when I go to work, the store, etc. at home, but I do not take my purse to theme parks. Since we don't drive at Disney, we've just never had a need to carry them around and in too many trips to count over 25 yrs. we've never had an issue. I suppose if we run into an issue at some point we may change our behavior, but so far it's been working. - I kinda thought that was part of the benefit/selling point of magic bands - not having to carry extra stuff. IDK, none of us are really drinkers at Disney either, so it's just never come up for us.

I’m curious, how do the people who don’t carry ID purchase adult beverages? Or do you just not buy them? No judgment either way (I don’t drink alcohol myself) but I know members of our travel party have been carded at Disney and they are in their fifties . . .

I always carry my DL and my medical insurance card to the parks, even if I carry nothing else. If there were to be a medical emergency I wouldn’t want to have to go back to my resort for those two things (most of my trips are solo).

Happened to my ds too. He had to show ID at the gate. Apparently, some old mb were deactivated by Disney, and he chose an old mb. I went through mine and many of mine were deactivated too.
