AP resort discount question

My husband and I are planning on going to WDW in October. Our dates will be October 14 through 19, therefore, we may not be able to take advantage of the free dining offer. So, I was wondering about AP discounts. When the discounts become available, do they ever/usually have blackout dates? We will be going to Disney in October of this year and then again, at the end of the summer next year. It may make sense for us to get an annual pass, but I'm still not sure. It just all depends on the discounts, really!

So far 'This Year' the AP Discounts have been one right after another. There may have been blackout dates for Easter, but as long as you're not gonna hit a actuall holiday you might be pretty good with getting a AP rate. Even if you miss out on a Resort savings, you will still be saving on Ticketing by having the APs.

Just wanted to see if any others have a response. We are definitely planning on getting an annual pass. Will the middle of October be blocked for us to use a discount(assuming there is an AP room discount) just like the free dining pins are blacked out for those dates?????

I have an AP and I've never experienced "blackout dates", however at busier times the discount is often smaller, and keep in mind not all types of rooms at all levels of resort are necessarily available. For instance, Club Level rooms at places like AKL and WL are hard to get, and sometimes so are the standard rooms. You may only get "Woods View" or "Pool View" or something depending on the resort and the dates.

Look for them around the last week of June.

i have a couple of more questions......

so we booked a split stay at CS and BC. we also bought APasses and the dining plan. Is it going to be a nightmare to get a discount? Do they just adjust the price of the room? I guess what I'm trying to say, does it have to be a room only reservation to get the AP rate?
