AP Renewal

I am wondering if anyone can confirm what a CM said about renewing AP's. I called the AP phone number to ask whether I could bring my family's AP's with me on my early December trip and renew them and get the vouchers.

I explained that our AP's expired on Dec. 17th and we were not arriving for our Christmas vacation this year until Dec. 21st.

She stated that while I could renew and get the vouchers in early December, it might be easier to just renew when we arrived on the 21st since there is a 30 day grace period for renewals.

I'd feel better if my fellow DISers confirmed this to be true. I'm afraid that we'll walk up to Guest Services on the 21st to renew, believing there is the 30 day grace period, only to be told that our passes have expired and there is no grace period. And it's not going to be much help in that situation if I say "well, a CM from the AP office told me there was when I called last month".

I'm just a little leary that this might be one of those things where only some CM's know about the grace period and we'll end up stuck and frustrated.

There is a 30 day grace period. Don't worry, you're good! :sunny: And you will have saved yourself the $3.00 mailing fee. :cool1:

I am in a similar situation. Our AP's will expire toward the beginning of our spring break trip. What I need to know is WHERE do we renew if we want the DVC discount? Doesn't that have to be done thru Member Services, or can we just show our DVC card at a guest services window? Can Lobby Concierge in the resorts sell me an AP?

Thanks.

You can renew it at any guest services at a park or DTD or any ticket window. You will need your DVC card and id. You can also order it over the phone with MS but there is a $3.00 handling fee that way just as it is for any AP that is mailed.

You can't buy or renew APs in the resorts.

Thanks for the info. I have the same situation. My AP expires on 11/29/06, I'll be there in late Oct'06 but have to book a trip in early Dec '06, so wasn't sure how to do it. It looks like I can just wait until I arrive on Dec 7 and renew it then. Thanks again.

Thank you! :flower:

You're welcome.

I will have to say though that I ordered my DD's new AP by mail as a hedge against possible inflation. :) We're not going until January and last year the price increased in early Jan. (well, as it decreased for all of us because of the new DVC discount :cool1: ) so I risked the $3 fee. Now watch the prices will go up 2/1 this year. That seems to be how my timing is lately! :teeth:

And wouldn't you still have to go get the actual passes once you arrived by trading in the vouchers.

Yes, so you save no time by ordering by mail.

Ordering by mail can also work though if your trip will be shortly after your grace period ends. That way you can lock in the renewal rate if it works out best considering future trips as well.
