AP renewal question

I have done this many times, I use the tickets I purchase to recieve free dining. Be very careful on pricing. Last year they had to redo the whole transaction because the did not give me the discount price for renewing the AP.
Thanks. I do know the exact price I should be given and if it's not correct we'll work with the CM to get it done correctly.

can someone tell me how long i have after my pass expires to renew it? this is my first AP and first renewal. It expires today and of course right in the middle of everything else that is due!!! uuggghh... I was first told 60 days after it expires, then i was told 30 days. we have 2 to renew so trying to space them apart.
thanks!!! :)

It can be renewed from 60 days before till 30 days after it's expiration date

Thought I'd update to report on what happened when we went to renew last Thursday
Our first stop was at AK so I figured, I'll try their ticket window and see if this gets done. I've had 1 other AP bridging I did there and another charging issue fixed at AK. I probably just got lucky but they seem to really know how to do things, or how to find out how to do things.

Background:
I had discounted tickets (purchased from Parksavers) for both DH and DGD to use towards the renewal of their AP.
DH's was a WP+PH ticket. DGDs was a PH ticket. We were renewal standard/basic non-FL resident APs. I guess they are called Platinum now, no water parks on our passes.
We had NOT used the tickets.

The CM we got (at AK's ticket window) thought she knew the steps but called to confirm she was using the right process.
That we had not used the tickets ended up making the process easier. Had we used them it would have still been possible to bridge them to a renewal but it would have made it harder on the CM (or at least a difference process with more steps)
Anyway the process the CM used was to issue a credit for the cost of the tickets I was using to renew. Not the cost I paid but the cost Disney sells them for. She showed me the credits that printed out and they were for the full ticket cost
She then processed the renewal, used the credits for payment toward each ticket and then I paid the balance owed.
Total due was exactly right
They gave us DGDs pass then.
I had processed my renewal online (I couldn't wait till I could bridge a pass in person) and she was able to issue my plastic card too. I know there is a lot of questions about do you get a plastic ticket upon renewal, or don't you. For ease of discounts I needed one. Every CM I made a purchase with required seeing that and my ID

OH, and DGD did not need to be present for the renewal, since she has no ID. We did however, need her MB to scan to access her ticket. I'm sure they would have been able to look them up some other way but that again, made it a less involved process for the CM since all she needed to do was scan DGDs band and she saw her AP. DH needed his ID so he did need to be there, naturally.

so if I buy a ticket from Undercover Tourist I can use it to bridge & renew my AP? Rats, I never thought to do that before. I always just renewed thru Disney & paid full price.

AngiTN thanks so much for writing out in detail the process the cm went through, it helps to know that yes those are the correct steps from point a to point b so I'll know what to watch out for.

Oh, and I should have included that while it was a painless process it was a time consuming one. Do not attempt this when trying to make an important deadline like rope drop, ADR or FP. We had time to kill before we HAD to be somewhere so it worked out but I'm guessing it took 30 min, and that's without any wait for help. That was from time I approached the window till we were done.

Good to know that this is the procedure. It was one of two ways I could think of to do it, it makes the most sense, and it's similar to how we deal with hard-copy renewal certificates.

Thanks for letting us know the renewal process. Were the discounted tickets linked to an MDE account or were they hard tickets that aren't linked to a MDE account?

Ah, good question.
They were linked to DD and DGD on my MDE account.
