AP renewal expiration date change?

I'm familiar with AP renewals expiring 1 year after the expiration date of the pass being renewed. I had a gold pass that expired June 9th, I purchased the renewal on April 15th. Or at least I image that is the day as it shows the pass will expire on April 15, 2023. I called to get them to change the date to June 9th, 2023. He said it will automatically change, that if I go back on July 1, it will automatically change to July 1, 2023. He knows this is a renewal. While this would be great I'm highly skeptical he knows what he is talking about. I have never renewed before for this very reason, we live in IL and are DVC and try and get 2 long summer trips and 1 4/5 day trip in between per pass, and then take a year off. With the uncertainly about being able to buy a new pass I renewed and planned on just getting 2 4/5 day trips out of it. I'm going back in November because I imagine this AP is already active. Has there been any announcement I may have missed? None of the changes lately have been for the better so I presume he is just new or something.

What you are seeing is the expiration date of the renewal voucher. When you go to activate that renewal, your expiration date should be set to one year after your actual passes expiration date.
