AP Refund

I read on another thread that the poster had called Disney Ticketing and was told that the number of blackout days would be subtracted from the park closure days in calculating the refund amount or extension days.

I also believe that Disney had met their obligations in allowing AP holders to either obtain a refund for park closure period or extend the validity of their AP by number of park closure days. It's on me if the parks are open and I choose not to go for any number of reasons, whether pandemic related or not.

yea, that’s another call. Everyone I know or read posts from have been told something different. my daughter was told they would send her an email on hos to process the refund....no email arrived, I was told they have no idea how the refund would be processed. So like always no one knows. Different cast member = different answer. I was even offered a full refund for my un-activated ap renewal voucher, but even that has to wait. I even asked if I could just convert the value towards a new AP voucher, and the CM said, that was too complicated 🤦‍♀️

I think where Disney cannot give a clear answer would be if the question is predicated upon the exact re-opening date, such as amount of refund/days of extension, when and how the refund would go out. I haven't read any conflicting reports about how blackout days were treated. I get that it's frustrating to not have concrete answers and that specific situations are not efficiently addressed. Personally, I would just cut everyone some slack in these times, even supposedly faceless, big corporations. Ultimately, companies big or small are made up of employees whose job security is tied to their company's financial survival.

im fine how it turns out. Regardless I canceled 4 trips between April-September and was ready to renew Before this happened. Whatever I get back is ok with me. we are hoping to be back in January and it’s the first time in 25 years that I don’t have an active AP. We renew every year. The one that hurts is my tables in wonderland card. I bought it in January and used it at a couple of places for a party of 2 and have never used it again. I’m hoping we can get back before the expiration date, even with the added time, I may not even saved enough to cover the $150 price tag. I bought it with all my spring, summer and fall trips in mind, esp my June trip which was a group of 8.

I am impressed that you have renewed your AP for 25 years!! I hope you get to go back soon, especially next year for the 50th celebration. As for the TIW card, Disney may be able to come up with something for those affected... not only because of the closed park days but even when the parks open, dining choices and dining capacity may be severely limited due to social distancing and other safety measures. I read somewhere that some restaurants are building enclosures--sort of like little greenhouses to separate diners and that self-service iPads installed at tables for patrons to send in their order and pay their bill could take off. Maybe up next would be robots to deliver food to our tables!

Right.

Refund amount = (AP price / # of total eligible days) * eligible days missed.

A blackout day is not an eligible day. So if it's $700 for a gold AP that's blacked out 25 days, that's (700/340) for the price per day, then multiply that by the number of eligible days they were closed.

I know details are quite sparse at this point, but has Disney indicated if the partial refund would go back on the credit card or via gift card? I closed the credit card account I used to purchase the APs and I can't get a definitive answer from Barclays if a credit is processed to a closed account if they will accept it and in turn send me a check.

I am hoping a credit via Disney gift card is an options. Frankly I'd be shocked if it wasn't an option.
