AP rates out for Jan 2012

I would like to thank the DISers who posted earlier this week that the AP rate for January and February would be available today. I called this morning at 7 AM on the nose and had no problem booking the room I wanted. Thanks again, DIS!!

You can add the dining plan to your reservation. However, you would have to buy tickets seperately, only if you need them. And if you for sure want the dining plan, make sure to get it put on when you book. If you try to add it later, you will have to cancel your reservation and rebook and may not be able to get the AP rate later on down the line.

So by separately do you mean I would have to buy them when I arrive? Sorry if I sound completely clueless; I'm new to this AP thing!

If you book a room only, you have to buy tix and/or AP's as a seperate transaction. AP rates are only "room only", because it is assumed you won't need the tickets. You can add the DDP to the room, but you should do that when you make your reservation, otherwise it is a huge hassle.

If you book under the AP rate, you must have it to check in the hotel. What you could do if you do not have the AP yet, is go to DTD or any park ticket booth on your way to the hotel and get it before hand. The process takes only a few minutes.

HTH!:goodvibes

Does anyone know what the AP discount is for Poly in Jan.? I booked the GP discount for Poly GV CL for Jan. 3 for 4 nights. Total is $1803.38. We are considering getting APs since we will most likely returning in Oct. Trying to figure out what to do.

I just looked it up on the AP site. Jan 3rd-7th Poly regular garden view is $1134.00. Garden view club level is $1512, as long as you use the early booking discount and book before 12/03. An AP would save you $291 on the room for the four nights. Plus you'd have your park ticket, could buy the TiW card to save 20% off your meals if you wanted, and could also use it for merchandise discounts and backstage tours. You'd also already have your park ticket for your next trip and could use it again for room and merchandise discounts on your next trip. Even if just one of you bought an AP it'd pay for itself. With a four night trip, I don't know if you'll be spending 4 or 5 days in the parks, but with tax a four day base ticket is $258.80, a five day base ticket is $267.32, and then it'd cost an additional $50.00 to upgrade each of those to a hopper. With tax a basic AP is $509.07. It'd cost more to buy a park hopper for two trips than it would the AP and with the AP you'd get all the discounts for both trips. I go several times a year, always keep an AP, and it easily pays for itself just in the room discounts. My husband is not as big a Disney fan as I am, so only goes once or twice a year. On the trips we know he'll be going back during a 12 month period we always get him an AP. It's cheaper to buy an AP, than to buy park tickets each trip.

Plus APs are sneaky little creatures. Mine is always crawling out of it's box and booking trips. At least that's what I tell my husband when an email comes saying I've booked another trip. I swear I didn't know a thing about it. The AP did it all on its' own.lol

Wow! Yours does that too!! I thought mine was the only one that did that.;)

I just recently did this going by what the CM told me would be the correct order. First, I bought an AP for myself and paid for it by credit card. Then, I bought two park hoppers for the other two in our party and paid for those by credit card. Then, I booked a room at CSR with the AP discount and added deluxe dining to it.

My only concern is we are taking ME straight from the airport to CSR and all I have is the AP voucher. The CM told me that would be sufficient for check in, but from what I've read on these boards you have to have the actual pass.

Don't know if you had seen my post but you're welcome!!!:flower3:

I called Monday and was told to wait til Wed so I called and got my room. I had to go with a courtyard view as there were no standard rooms (bummer)...but I am so excited to go!!!

Enjoy your trip!

You should be fine with the voucher. They may ask that you return the next day and show them your AP. I've had to do that a couple of times.

Also, for future reference, you could have purchased the rest of your party's admission tickets through an authorized reseller (like Undercover Tourist) where you get a bit of a discount.

The first time I booked with an AP rate, I had a ticket from Undercover Tourist that I wanted to upgrade to an AP (after using it once at a park to lock in the gate price). I checked in, and was never asked to show my AP or a voucher. Many others have posted that they also were not required to show the AP. Others have said that the voucher was sufficient. Still others who have been asked were given 24 hours to return with the activated AP if they didn't have a pass or a voucher before they would be charged rack rate. No one was refused registration at the AP rate if they didn't have the AP at check in.

You should be fine with just a voucher.

We have been asked sometimes to show AP. Last Jan I had a voucher which was fine. They told me to come back in 24hrs to show my activated AP.

We just applied our AP discount to our POR res, had AAA room-only at $135/night, now $109/night with AP :yay:

I wish the CM I was booking with had told me that. When I booked the AP rate for my sept 2011 trip, the lady told me I had to have the actual AP not just a voucher to check in. It was a slight pain in the backside, but I did what I was told by the CM. I am glad I found out otherwise from ya'll so I won't give anyone else misinfo. :goodvibes

Looks like at AS music standard $54 s-th/$61 f-s / family suite $ 128 s-th/ $141 f-s

AS sports/music/movies preferred $65 s-th / $70 f-s

pop standard $58/65
pop preferred $68/74
pop preferred pool $70/$77

no standard at sports/movies, only preferred

cripes.... if I wasn't bound and determined to be at WL, I would jump on these prices!!

Awesome thanks so much.

My DH is super cheap, er I guess I should say thrifty, lol. Anyway he always insists that we stay off-site because it is cheaper since we drive down and have don't need transportation.

Well since we're getting the FL res. seasonal AP this year because we have a few trips planned. I've discovered that it is actually essentially the same price to stay in a value on site as a 'cheaper' motel off-site and still pay parking. So he's reluctantly agreed IF the AP rates panned out and looks like they have. YIPPY!!!!!!!

AWESOME!! I had to explain to my guy that if you subtract the price of parking per day, gas used, and the complete and total meltdowns I have due to driving in a place I don't know ;), off the cost of the room, it is well worth it to stay on-site.

I was gonna do the 3 day florida pass, but we were going for 4 days. I then looked up the price for the SAP, and realized what a great deal they are. And you can save how much money for your room!! :woohoo:

Have a great year with your SAP!

I really appreciate this post. I had starting planing for our Jan 2012 trip last Feb and had lost track of the AP date opportunity.

It's been kind of interesting trying to get the lowest rates that we can at BC, our favorite resort. To be sure we got a room, in Feb I reserved a standard room with no discount. Called back in late June and they told me they now had the BC AAA rate availble..but only for 'Garden View' and it would be cheaper for the stay! Of course I booked it!!
Then, thanks to this post, I called back on 10/8 and they had a AP rate... but only for a 'Water/Pool' view but it was, again, still cheaper than our AAA 'Garden View' res!!! Of couse I rebooked it!!

That's nice, lowering our overall price and getting upgrades, and I appreciate it very much. :goodvibes

One question for those that may have an opinion..
Regardless of the upgrades for less overall cost, and believe me we like nicer rooms and locations as much as anyone. We need to spend as little as possible and are hoping there may be availability for AP rate for standard rooms at BC. Does that ever happen? that only 'Water' View are available and then maybe AP rate for 'standard' rooms become available later?

Again, thanks for this great post! :goodvibes

Great thread! I am getting ready to book a stay at the Poly using the room only discount promo but wanted to see if purchasing an AP made any price difference. Would someone mind checking what the price would be to book an GV club level room at the Poly checking in on Jan 5 and departing on Jan 12? If CL is not available, a standard GV room will be fine too. Thanks so much!!
