AP RATES For FEB are out

I couldn't get CSR either. They tried to sell me a suite for over $2000 for 7 nights. No thanks. They said PO and CBR had availability but DH would have killed me.

So, I went with Wilderness Lodge, $129.00 with a view (I now forget which kind of view!). No standards left.

AKL was a bit cheaper but we prefer the WL for some reason. I think it will be nice to sit by the fire and sip hot chocolate at WL in January.

And it's still cheaper than moderate rack rate!

I called first thing this morning and was told that there were blackout dates during our trip. I juggled our ressies and was able to get AP rates at WL for most of our trip. I was happy with the savings on part of our trip. When I got home, I saw that some people were able to get discount on the "blackout" dates so I called CRO... We were able to get the AP rates for all eight nights of our trip!!!!!!!! We saved 45% off the rack rate at WL. The woods view is normally $230 and we are getting it for $126! And the best thing of all is that we didn't have to wait until December to get a great deal! We AP holders have been feeling neglected lately, but Disney came through for us this time.

WANNABEATDISNEY, I got WL this morning too for $126/night. My dates weren't blacked out either. It took 4 CM's though. The first three said they weren't available yet. Have you stayed here before? Also, I am from Lafayette, Louisiana. Spending Mardi Gras with the Mouse.

P.S. It doesn't look like we'll have to deal with Saints fans on the road since Superbowl is 2/6. LOL.::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo princess:

We have always stayed at the Poly or the CR. We have visited WL many times but never stayed there. We are having a Grand Gathering Feb 4th to the 12th ( my dd is missing a few days of school). Are ya'll flying Southwest? We are kind of upset over our plane ticket prices... the last 3 trips we have paid around $86 roundtrip. This trip we are paying $258! Thank goodness WDW released some great codes for our WL dates (very glad we didn't have to wait until Dec).

WANNABE@WDW,
We're, unfortunately, driving. My DH wants to stop in Gainesville to see the SWAMP. Sorry, he's not an LSU fan. Also, DH is not very fond of flying. I did check Southwest to see if there were any good rates to convince him otherwise. Nothing as cheap as what we got last time we went to WDW. This is DH's first time driving, somehow, I suspect it will be the last. We have a 2 and 6 year old. 14 hours in a car with kids, not fun.

Anybody know what is going on Feb. 3rd - 5th that these dates would be blocked out?

SueEllen from DU also got the AP rate applied to my reservation...I got the WL Woods View from Feb 6-13th for $126 + tax...I'm quite happy with that and SO looking forward to staying there! :hyper:

Called at 7 AM - just got off the phone at 7:30 !! Was on hold for about 15 minutes - they're busy!

Was first told that all hotels were blocked off for my dates (2/4- 2/6) - I asked her to check with the code and said I knew people had gotten the AP rate for AKL - she insisted that none of the hotels had availability for those dates. Determined not to give up, I asked her to check the regular rates for me at AKL for those dates - low and behold, she came back on and said - "hold on, I think I can help you here" (very nice, though mistaken, CM this morning!). . . yeah !! - 2 rooms, savannah view @ 151.00 + tax =168.21. She did not have any concierge rooms available - really wanted to take my friends on Sunrise Savannah:( - Oh well, I'm so excited to be going back to AKL!:smooth:

 Anyone know what's going on that weekend? CM didn't know - is that Mardis Gras?

Fat Tuesday is the 8th, and the Superbowl is the 6th. I don't know if either of those has anything to do with it or not though.

Liznboys,
you are welcome. I am actually a travel agent who has been getting up every morning for the last two weeks to get the codes and Ap rates when they come out for my clients. I am also a Disney Lover and I understand how much everyone wants to go and how expensive it gets. I am glad you got an AP rate and I hope you enjoy your vacation!!

Same to you, and thanks again (and again and again...!!!) :wave2: :sunny: ::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo

My dh and I were talking about them and I think I saw someone mention it in a thread (maybe this one LOL) that maybe the blackout dates coincide with conventions in Orlando? We know there is a convention during one of the January blackout dates (because dh is going to it!) Just a thought... From what I've learned (reading websites and the Unofficial Guide), the Mardi Gras "crowds" really don't have a noticeable impact on WDW... But maybe the crowds increase just enough from it during those weekends to cause the blackout...?? It's just interesting that some of us were able to get AP rates at certain resorts even during the blackout times!?!

I was thinking that Super Bowl Weekend might have something to do with it. The Super Bowl is in Jacksonville. The the men leave their Wife and Kids at Disney and head to Jacksonville for the game.
