Just booked yesterday...would be nice if there is a discount...

CM said to check back after August 8th....I don't think it will be out that late.

Yes.

You are correct. But it does put us in the system and if discounts are released I can transfer my room.

And because there is now a good chance I can't afford the room I want, I have a backup reservation.

And as for dalt01 calling names, is that really necessary?
sorry, you are right, not necessary, but it is a pet peeve and i dont think multiples are necessary. enough, back on track, waiting patiently so i can finally get to stay at Poly. intead of POR, which i love also.

See..we can all be friends. :thumbsup2

Dalt, now that i read your post...we have stayed at POR it seems like a 1000 times. We too are going to stay at the POLY. We are there August 8 - 19th . We have AAA rate for a total of $3450. Room only. it comes out to +/- $314 per night.

Im not sure if an AP rate is going to be much cheaper based on previous years numbers, but ..a couple hundred bucks is a couple hundred bucks.

When are you going to be there ?

Aug 16 thru 24 but unless something breaks here it will be POR. not to hard to take as a fall back position though.:) we prefer it over most Deluxe.

August 8th? Thats when we want the discounts for. I hate CMs. I think they toy with us to get their kicks. I called and talked to a supervisor to ge something done for my trip in august and she told me that something would be released after the current AP window closed on the 24th. Ack.. thats 5 more days. I booked AAA at POP but I really want to stay at WL or AKL.

Any guesses on what the AP discount rates might be for August? Or what you'd like them to be?lol

I want to let everyone know that i just sent WDW an email letting them know how disgusted i am with their policy on waiting and waiting and waiting to releases these AP Rates. I know it will fall on deaf ears...or they will read it 3 weeks from now...but i encourage everyone to do the same.

email address....

wdw.guest.communications@disneyworld.com

I think its time we let them know we are "mad as hell and were not going to take it anymore." (and they will read the email, laugh, chuckle and click DELETE.) :dance3:

I actually have the Disney Headquarters main "407" phone number. If anyone is interested in having it...PM me.

The current AP window does not close on the 24th. The current AP promotions are bookable until the end of the promotion, Aug. 4th. I checked the AP website, and it says .... you have until August 4th to book a room at these rates. The only promotion that ends on the 24th is the free dining package. So as always the CMs really don't know much more than us, and sometimes less. I am truly baffled that the August AP rates have not been released. I think that they are so caught up with the rumor changes that are rumored to be released on the 23rd and the free ddp to end on the 24th, that this next round has fallen through the cracks. They almost always release at least 2 months prior.

Did you really e-mail them?

Having an annual pass does not definitely give you the benefits of getting a room discount. There is always a possibility but no where in the rules / terms of the annual pass does it state that they have to offer discounts to annual passholders

A few problems with this.

1. You are assuming they are "waiting". They may not be, they may not be giving discounts. So the only "waiting" is here.

2. Discounts are not guranteed. So what you wrote was "I don't want to play by the rules"

3. Disney does not give discounts because folks whine. They give discounts to sell rooms. If they don't need to sell rooms they won't give them. Since almost EVERYONE on this thread has booked a room (at least ONE room LOL!) then what Disney sees is "we don't need those discounts, they are coming anyway" It's like anything else. If Apple can sell the Iphone for full price, why are they going to put it on sale? If you think Apple's Iphone is too high you have lots of other phone options. Same thing with Disney. If the room is too high you have lots of other options, different resorts, off property, whole different vacation destinations.

Actually if you look at the history of AP rates at mousesavers, you'll see that many discounts were released 1 - 1 1/2 months before.

Being an AP holder at DLR, I honestly don't think it is unreasonable for AP holders to expect some kind of preferential treatment. Otherwise, what is the benefit of holding an AP. At DLR, the AP gives dining discounts, Hertz rental car discounts, merchandise discounts and, yes, hotel discounts. It may not be as much discount as the "offered" code discounts at WDW, but then again DLR is not as big. I have owned a Deluxe annual passport (i.e. no black out dates and ALWAYS free parking) for more than 10 years. I think the "members only" rewards are WAY WORTH owning the passport. I am seriously surprised by the lack of "special passport only" benefits that WDW offers.

My prince is a diabetic too.

Thanks for calling the supervisor. Hopefully she is right.

I am certainly not getting into a "debate" with anyone over this. BUT, I know all the rules and regulations of what may / may not be offered. That being said......

Do all of you who said...."having an annual pass doesn't gaurantee you anything" really think I DONT know that. PLEAAASSSSSSSEEE.

One of the MAJOR perks of an Annual Pass is an Annual Pass room discount rate. I can honestly tell you, it is THE reason why we have an annual pass.

I dont think there is any harm in writing an email to the "honchos" and letting them know this is very dissappointing. Is it whining.....posters #174 & #175 may think yes, I think no.

I am stating my opinion to Disney..i'm not questioning anyone on here "why did you do this" or "why did you do that".

So to those who feel it neccessary to tell me that an "AP does not gaurantee you anything special".....I already knew that. Thanks for your concern.

Sometimes I think that there are people who just read these post to start a controversy.

Based on the "trend" of this thread, posters #174 & #175 appear to be just waiting / lurking for something to write. To you two, we welcome you to the thread. If I learn anything from the both of you, I will let you know.

KG

KG see my previous thread about the "lack" of anything special about owning an annual passport at WDW. You even have to buy a "special" passport for dining discounts. This is disgusting to those of us with DLR passports. . .

Oh boy, I don't want this thread to become a debate either. We were having so much fun.. or at least we were all hoping for the same thing.. AP discounted rooms... misery loves company and all that.

That said, it never fails that if anyone dares to mention that they "expect" AP room discounts, someone will ALWAYS come on here and say AP holders are not entitled to any room discounts, how dare you expect a room discount, that is not why you should buy an AP, and if you bought an AP only to get discounts on rooms, then you have no business getting an AP in the first place. I never understood why people felt the need to point this out, but it never fails that it will be said and it has been going on for quite some time.

Since almost EVERYONE on this thread has booked a room (at least ONE room LOL!) then what Disney sees is "we don't need those discounts, they are coming anyway"

Right now, I have a room booked at POP at $92 pn rack rate. If AP rates come out at a deluxe for my time frame, I will "splurge" and pay perhaps $199 for an Epcot resort. Yes, I am coming to Disney anyway for $92 pn, but Disney stands to gain, if I shell out $199 - twice the amount - and free up their value rooms. Heck, if they offer another AP discount at SSR or OKW, that would be even sweeter for them because I will pay them $164 pn for one of those DVC resort rooms that might otherwise stay empty and again, freeing up a value or mod.

Sure, we all know there is a slight chance of not getting an AP rate for August, but that does not have to stop us from hoping, expecting, waiting, and letting Disney know. We are only waiting around for something that is usually given - a discounted room!

There probably isn't a person around these boards that would not take an offer or discount if it was offered to them, but it never stops folks from trying to make AP holders feel like we have no right to hope for and yes, even expect, an AP discounted room. Heh, it's not like we are asking for free food or anything. :rotfl:
