Just called (twice) and checked online and the AP rate for my 14 nights in December (2nd - 16th) is higher than the AAA rate for a partial hookup site.

Grrrrr.

Oh well, at least I know I'm paying the best rate :-)

You will notice that AP rates are becoming increasingluy hard to get and are becoming smaller and smaller in the amount of the discount.

I just called to try and get the AP rate for my 2 weeks in early October. Unfortunately, no AP rate was available but I still have my AAA rate. Was hoping to convert my discount to AP so I wouldn't have to purchase a AAA membership. Mine current membership will expire before my trip and I wasn't planning on renewing it - oh well.

I originally got the AAA membership for the Disney Discounts, and for the first time this December, I'll actually be using it for the discounts.

However, it has more than paid for itself just in towing!!!!!

I have two teenage college age sons who drive older cars. I won't give a teenager a new car!!!

Because of minor problems, and because we had AAA, the boys were able to have the vehicle towed somewhere and take care of the problem themselves!!! This has happened 4 times in the past year. Each of the tow bills would have been over $75.00 each.

Now, if we hadn't had AAA, we could have fixed the problems without even towing the vehicles, but it saved us lots of driving, to fetch the kid, parts, etc., and lots of time and frustration.

I wasn't much on AAA until my teenage sons started being on the road more than they were home, now I won't go without it!!!!

I just made some reservations for next year and for the first time I needed to give them my AAA Number at that time instead of waiting until we checked-in.

I have always had to give Disney CRO my AAA # at time of reservation. As I said, I usually end up with a better discount later, but usually book initially at AAA rate.

I got an email from my travel agent yesterday telling me that she had gotten me an AP rate for my Oct long weekend trip :yay: It only saved about $20 but every dollar saved goes toward those Mickey ice cream sandwiches that the kid loves!

I called yesterday and saved $45 on my existing reservation for the end of October with the new AP rate.

What was the AAA rate for October? I booked the AP rate. My travel agent knows that I have the AP and AAA, and she always has gotten me the best rate. It looks like it was ~$220/nt with taxes and everything.

For the cabins, the AP rate is probably better. I am referring to the campsites. They seem to be pretty stingy with the discounts for the campsites.

Yes, I recently had a heated discussion on the resorts board about how they are trying to suck every last dime out of pass holders now. Time to stop renewing passes I suppose. With a passholder code I was quoted $79 at a value, which is the same price you can get it for on the website (general public).

I guess if I won't be able to afford flying down for october and am now considering camping at FW with AAA rate (never done it in October so I'm unsure how well that will work in the cooler weather).

Believe me October won't be cool enough to worry about!!

I tent camp at Ft. Wilderness in December, and an electric blanket works just fine!!!!

Even in December I run a fan in the tent during the day to help combat moisture.

The last time I camped there in October, it was 80's during the day and very pleasant at night.

I agree they are getting stingier. I am now seeing this happen with FL resident discounts as well, they are advertising discounts for October-December but when I check for FW, only the cabins come up.
