Does a passholder need to be in each room?

Our november trip.... have another family going with us. They are currently booked with a package with a pin code.
But our last 2 nights we wanted to switch over to WL, and still have dining plan.
For myself, I would book AP rate with dining... but can I also book for them, too? Can I book two rooms and have the second room in their name without them being passholders or having a passholder in the room? I would be checking in at the same time with them, if that helps.

There may end up being a GP % off rate for them to book those 2 nights, but the issue is they really need the dining plan and of course are not wanting to add another ticket to be able to add the dining.

I thought it was one room for AP also, but on another thread I posted on back in Feb 2011 other DISers said this:

If I recall correct, AP guests use to be able to book 3 rooms.
Last year that went to 1, from 3.
This year it is back to 3.

Thanks for the replies! I was able to book the two rooms I needed both with the QSDP using just my AP. The CM told me up to 3 rooms under 1 AP as long as they were all in the same resort and the same timeframe.

Probably best to just call and try!

:goodvibes

I'm looking into an AP and just called a few weeks ago and asked how many rooms pass holders could book. That CM told me three. Now I know they're all reading from a different playbook on some days but there's a chance.

Good luck!

Yes, you can book three now. We booked two rooms Spring Break. We did have ap's but they did not even ask to see them. Now we would have never booked it and not had ap's but it was interesting that the cm never asked to see them.

Excellent news!!

Has anyone had a different experience recently (being told no I mean) on booking multi rooms on AP?

Unfortunately, you can only book one room as a passholder now.

This is not true. I have never not been able to book up to 3 rooms with my AP with the most recent booking of more than one room with the AP rate this past March for our October trip.

Yes, you will be able to book more than one room with your AP discount.

I know I read it on Disney world site, but I can't find it now, but it did say you could now book up to 3 rooms with AP. I know I saw it a few months ago.
So I would try to book it now, while they changed it.

Thanks for the info! Now to begin the long wait till AP rates come out for our post-Thanksgiving trip! I'm thinking maybe not till August they'll be out?
