AP Price Increase?

Yea and the source said we would be "pleasantly surprised"..whatever that means. I doubt it will be a price decrease, but maybe a "no increase for a year" type of promo? Who knows.
One can hope!! I'm letting my AP from October 2016 expire in order to get the bridge on PHs that I bought before the price increase for our trip late November. It's a better deal for me because it will cover later dates for a trip next year also.....

Yes I'm interested to see what that means. I don't think they would do a decrease. It something like you mentioned is a possibility.

I don't think they'll let you do an increase over the phone. You have to do it in person on property.
Youre so smart haha..Im sitting here over analyzing the post thinking about the "missing" word and all I kept coming up with was that the post didnt mention the "platinum" passes..but youre right the title is missing the word increase. It just specifies "changes"..cant wait to see what happens since we planned on upgrading our tickets on our november trip.

Edit: I quoted your wrong post. I meant to quote the one where you said that there was a word missing from the title of the wdwmagic thread

No problem! We are looking at upgrading our 7 Day ParkHoppers in February so I'll be interested to see what this comes out to be. If there's an increase, we probably won't upgrade (unless it's small). If there's a decrease or no change, we most likely will upgrade. So, this announcement will basically make or break my wife and I becoming AP holders for the first time.

"Changes" seems more like they will add a new layer of passes. However, usually in "changes" part of that means "increases". While it could mean some sort of cheaper pass (maybe opening up the Silver pass to more than Florida residences). A change like that would mean I got screwed, because we could use a Silver pass for our planned trips, but aren't allowed to buy them.

well, it seems that something is going on, as the website page that shows options for pass levels seems to be blank right now...or maybe it's just me. :badpc:

It's letting me add annual passes to my cart right now so maybe that was a temporary glitch.

Interesting that that specific post made sure to note that there was a very important word missing from their title (that word being "increase"). Could we possibly see a decrease??????? Honestly, I'd be happy if they allowed non-Florida residents to go on a payment plan for the AP.

Honesty...even though it changes nothing in real terms...I think a monthly plan would be very pleasing...and actually encourage renewals.

It's basic economics...$200 a month is a nuisance you get over...$2500 in March is a major disruption that forces the consumer to rethink his decision. At least for me.

Exactly - my wife and I could cut $132.94/month out of our budget to have AP's for both of us all year and go when we wanted to, but we can't come up with $1600 in a lump to buy AP's outright. I'm honestly surprised that Disney doesn't have a monthly payment option for non-Florida residents since Universal has one.

I honestly think it's offensive on both parts...

They think that Florida residents need "assistance" to pay for tickets but people in Georgia don't?

What's it matter if you live in Jacksonville, Savannah, or Dearborn, Mi?

I don't think it's trying to be offensive - I read awhile back somewhere that Disney didn't want to deal with collection laws in all 50 states which is why they only offer the payment plan in Florida. Apparently that's another thing Universal's figured out that Disney can't.

I honestly don't know why collection laws would apply?

It's quite simple: accounts in good standing are active...ones that aren't are suspended.

Now if it's a tax issue...I can see them going el cheapo on it.

If they allowed direct bank withdrawal they would actually save money...cutting visa/MasterCard largely out of the loop.

Might be a tax issue. But I read somewhere that all Disney tickets are taxed at the Florida rate of 6.5% regardless of where sold, even if out of state. I'm guessing in-state sales tax wouldn't apply because the medium isn't for consumption in that specific state but Florida may require the use tax be collected up front on non-state sales (not familiar with Florida tax law). That being said, it would be as easy as averaging it out and collecting it against the monthly payment, the same way they do in Florida for payments.

Maybe they are worried that out of state people would sign up for the monthly payment annual passes the month of their upcoming trip and just cancel once they got home because that would be cheaper than just buying normal park tickets. FL residences could also do this but more are probably actually looking to as a normal AP since they have easier access to WDW.

That's a valid concern...

But you could stunt that by charging an upfront percentage that would make it economically disadvantageous to scam...do 3 months or 6 months...etc

And...nothing stopping Florida residents from doing that either

Love the avatar...by the way

I agree completely. We live near Hershey park and get season passes every year. There are six of us, so even though the pass is a bargain if you go often, it stings to pay for four passes upfront. The have a six-month payment plan which charges no additional fees. $140 per month for six months is a lot easier than $840 all in one shot.
