AP Package w/DDP question

This will be my first Disney trip with an AP

I have booked an AP package with DDP, and am not required to purchase any tickets because of the AP. My duaghter will be coming with me on this trip and I was wondering what the best way to buy her 10 day Park Hopper would be?

Do I need to purchase her ticket through Disney because I have a package, or could I buy a ticket for her through mousesavers.com to save a little more money :confused3

I am also curious if the Disney resort can apply your ticket to your "key to the world card" if it was purchased through mousesavers before arrival?

TIA :thumbsup2 DISers are AWESOME:love:

You can get your tickets from anywhere you want. If you subscribe to mousesavers.com, use the link in the newsletter to get the best discount at undercover tourist.

You can also add your tickets to your KTTW card at the Lobby Concierge of your resort.

I just found an AP rate for my stay in August, and DDP is an option. Now if i book without DDP, can I add it on at a later date without limitation?

The reason is, if I book with DDP now, I have to pay for the whole package right away (44 days until trip.) If I book without DDP, I pay a 1 night deposit. Then I hope I could add DDP just a few (but more than 3) days prior to arrival. Also I can cancel if need be up to 5 days before trip.

I am concerned that if I dont purchase DDP now, they will say it is "all sold out" or "cant be added" at a later time. The AP rate savings are far greater than the DDP value.

Please Help!:faint:

Pook - what I have been told in the past (and as recently as Tuesday morning) is the following (I will try to not be too confusing):

The AP rate rooms and the AP plus dining rate rooms come out of the same pool. That is, you got one of the rooms somewhat set aside for those rates (or, rather, available for those rates.)

If you book AP room only and later want to add the Dining Plan, you can do so up to THREE DAYS before your arrival. They will have to cancel the Room Only and book you a package at that point. HOWEVER, since they should be doing them virtually simultaneously, then you SHOULD, unless someone comes in and snags it in the five seconds, be virtually guaranteed room availability. You will, of course, have to pay the balance at the time because you ARE switching to a package with their 45 day rules.

Clear as mud?

I can tell you I have a room only now and am waiting until I can talk to my daughter's teacher before committing to the DDP since we will be taking her out of school (Kindergarten - put away your flamethrowers) for a few days for the trip. If there is a problem and I decide that I DON'T want to pull her out for any reason, well, then, I'm not locked in. Make sense?

it also pays to be persistent when you try these things. The first time i called, I was not able to switch my room-only reservation to an AP room + DDP reservation and get the same resort (I was told I would have to switch to AS Mu). The CM told me there were no more "AP package" rooms available in POP. She said it was a totally different pool of rooms -- AP vs AP plus dining. I called back the next day, and the CM was much more helpful. She did something like GeorgiaAristocat described, except she told me she had another CM somehow "hold" my room while she released it from the room-only reservation. Then she was able to get my room back again and add the DDP. She also gave me a rate that was about 100 less than the first CM!

So strange what a difference the CM you get makes!

I appreciate all this information on the AP's and how they are able to be used:thumbsup2

Special thanks to Disneycouple99 for answering my questions :goodvibes

:thanks: :disrocks:

Thats why the packages are booked before the room only is cancelled. You can book a room only and call 3 days before and add the DDP but be prepared to sit on hold as guest services has to release the room so it can be booked as a package.
