Universal has had this option for a while & I'm kind of surpised (yet kind of not) that WDW hasn't offered this as well.
I bet WDW would sell many more AP's and make 'free' money off of them if they did this. I could see many people buying them / renewing them and not using them. Or more people may say, "Heck I've got passes, let's try to sneak in a quick trip".

Ok I really see no advantage to this. I mean if you don't have the cash at the time of purchase how is paying it in installments going to help.
Simply put that much money aside, even in a savings account, draw a little interest on it and then buy the tickets.
I was able to get my DVC discount when I renewed my Disneyland AP and paid for the premium AP with monthly installments. It is in place at Disneyland.
