AP Limit on # of Nights

My husband and I have stayed at WDW many times over the years using an AP discount. Our stays run 16-19 nights each time. We were never limited to the number of nights we could book using an AP discount. We never had to make a split reservation to accomodate our stay. HOWEVER, this morning when I called to apply the new AP code FAU to our CSR stay of 9/30-10/18, I was told the maximum is 10 nights. This would defeat the purpose for us because the last 8 nights fall into the regular season and would eat up any savings we would have for the first 10 nights. I do not remember this change in policy ever being made known. It was never discussed in the Mickey Monitor,nor on any website,nor in the sleeve we got when we purchased our AP's 10/05. I have e-mailed the powers that be and am awaiting their response but I wonder if anyone else has come across this?

I know they had this policy last fall because I tried to book a 12 night stay and I had to break it into two reservations. Today I just booked a ten night stay for Spetember and was told that anything over ten would have to be done as a split stay. Is there a way for you to have at least one night of your 2nd ressie start in value season so you can get that same rate for the entire 2nd ressie?

Maybe last year is when the new policy went into effect. We stayed at the Swan last October at the government rate since there were no AP discounts for the month of October last year. My husband and I both work for the federal gov't so our vacation requests were submitted and set a long time ago. Unfortunately they are not subject to change. I'm now debating if I should book the first 10 days at the AP rate and see if a new October discount will come out for the new celebration starting 10/1. Thank you for your feedback.

We have been required to split our stays for the past few years when requesting an AP discount. Our stays always exceed 10 days. I understood it to be the regular policy.

I know in the past, it has been like that for us too, using a CM discount. I would call back and split the stay to 9 and 9. That way your second res start would fall into the less expensive season.

It may be possible that it always was the policy but it never affected our reservation. Maybe it was done automatically. I always got only one confirmation slip in the mail that would have the entire timeframe of our vacation on it so of course I would assume that there was no limit to the number of nights that could be booked. If this always was the policy, I stand corrected. Thanks to everyone for their help!

It sounds like since the last 8 days are at the higher rate, you should begin your second reservation for 10 days and your earlier part of the reservation for the shorter period. That way both rates will be at the value level. So maybe have your first reservation be from 9/30 - 10/8 and your second reservation be from 10/9 to 10/18.

Sorry if I am repeating the obvious but I've never stayed for more than 10 days so I am unfamiliar with that part of the policy.

I know any time I tried to make a ressie with either AP or FL rate for more than 10 days, I had to break it up. You were always able to get as many days as you wanted, but you just did not get the discount.

Generally packages have been running 10 days max. (Just as a rule of thumb.) So since you are booking a WDTC package, there is always a max number of nights the package is capped. When booking WDTC packages, guests book multiple continuing packages when their vacation goes over the maximum nights allowed for the package.

I thought that the new price structure let you do 14 days .But maybe thats just for 07 bookings.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that the bean counters at Disney decided that it is best to do this in order to get the most $ out of the customer in the event that there is a season change (e.g., regular, holiday), etc.

It might have to do with the MYW tickets many buy with their packages too. I don't know what the break even point is between buying MYW tickets and APs, but I would think it would be under 14. I would think buying an AP and then getting an AP room discount (if available) would cost less in the end for the guest.

May I ask then...is it a 10 day total for the whole year? Or just more than 10 days in a row? I ask because I would like to have an AP discount in July 2007 and then again in June 2008, each stay for 7 days. Can I get discounted for all 14 days?

It's ten consecutive days per visit. If a code is available--and rooms available--for your dates, you can book AP rates as often as you like!
