AP Hotel Rates question

We are trying to put together another trip to the kingdom in the fall and I am contemplating getting everyone season passes (6) leave it to gr&pa.

I understand that there are special AP rate discounts for the various Disney Hotels, and that the current one will expire sometime in May or thereabouts.

As I understand it there would regularly be about a 10 percent discount during the higher seasons and during the value seasons it can go as high as 30-35 percent.

Is this correct?

I know nothing is cast in stone but has there been a history higher discounts during the fall, September/October?

Thanks for taking your time to answer.

Last year they came out with some amazing rates around that time. 129 for PP, 169 for PP concierge, 149 I think for DLH...really good rates. Don't know if they will have similar this year, but they did last year.

I noticed your "gr&pa" screen name. I don't know if you qualify but disney does offer senior rates. I don't know much about them but I hear they are good. Maybe someone else can tell you more about them.

Also, an AP holder can book up to 2 rooms with one pass. So depending on when & how often you take the other AP holders it may be more cost efficient to buy tickets.;)

The senior discount rate is 30% off . . . . really a good deal!

Last November they had great rates too -- for the Grand Californian it was about $250 a night for a standard room (as opposed to $400 plus during high season per night).

Senior rates, everywhere, that is the only thing that is good about getting older. I do get some now just not this one yet, next year ---- lookout!

thanks for all your help

How do you get the senoir rate? Call on the phone?

Do they ever offer a discount on Saturday night?

Yes--we just called the regular AP number and the CM I talked to asked questions including--is anyone over 65 and it turned out (since Mom was going with us) that the senior rate was better than the AP deal for the nights we wanted--and I believe it can apply to Saturdays.

The senior rate is awesome--we went in september 07 and it is a 30% discount for those 60 and over. They just checked my mom's id when we arrived. I am fairly certain it's not 65, because mom is only 61!

Best rate I've seen:thumbsup2

Good Luck

We got our senior rate from May 18-24th. Friday night was more expensive but still a big savings. You can reserve up to two rooms at that rate. It is a really great rate. I called the hotel directly to reserve the rooms. I was told that the discount was for those 60 and over. I still have a while to go, but my husband is 60!

Glad that I was wrong and the age cut-off is 60! (at least I got the 30% right--LOL)

Toocherie, I see you are a DVC member. Have you ever combined points and cash? I was wondering if you could stay in the same room?

I have to wait until 7am California time to find out if we can get the senior rate.

I am a new DVC member so have never combined points and cash--not sure I understand completely how that works! sorry . . .

Thanks. I finally got ahold of someone and I don't think I will find out either. They don't have any senior rates available for the night I want. Well, they have concierge. I was hoping to spend less than $500 for that first night. I am perfectly happy staying offsite the first night, but my husband does not like to move.

I am sure we will working something out. I have been dying to stay at the GCH since we had breakfast there a year and a half ago.

The GCH IS wonderful! I am going at the end of the month for my birthday for three days . . . I am using DVC developer points --otherwise a standard room for that time--even with AP discount--would have been $400 a night! It was one of the things that pushed me to join DVC--I figured I could put the $1200 towards a DVC membership rather than paying for a hotel room!

I wanted to stay there so bad. I am considering doing a 2 night package the 2 nights before and the GCH is only $300 more for 2 nights. $150 a night is not that much more right? :rotfl: Can you tell I am justifying?
