We qualify for the Florida resident discount, but I am wondering if buying the FL Res AP is a good value vs. buying the $99 4 day park hopper passes. I think we would go to Disney twice a year, which would seem to make the $99 Fl resident Park Hopper Pass the better deal, but the $99 FL Pass is not always available, correct?

Does anyone have any information or experience with this?

You are correct that the Play4 pass is not always available, and you have only a few months in which to use the days and then they expire. We did this a few years back, before I did my research and before I found the DIS! We ended up not using all 4 days before the expiration date.

Then I found out that for about $75 more (I think) I could get a florida resident seasonal pass. I think it cost about $175. It is good for a year at all 4 parks but has black out dates of the week of Easter, Christmas and over the summer from early June to Mid August. This worked out great for us as we can go every 2 months now.

Depending on when you want to go, this may be a better deal for you.

The $99 deal is for a limited time. I would go with a Florida Residetn Seasonal Pass. You will have blackout times, but that is when the park is usually the most crowded. I love my seasonal pass.

The $99 passes expire on June 7, 2002. We are going for a 4-day weekend in May, so we got the passes (plus Florida resident discount at CBR for $84.00 a night). It all worked out to cost less than the 3-day weekend we spent at ASSp over x-mas, with more time in the parks.

We just got our seasonal passes in Nov and have been twice , are going May3-5 and are planning a Sept trip. I love the seasonal pass! It costs less than a 4-day hopper. You are right- the $99 play 4 doesn't always happen. We have used our pass 7 days and 3 more coming up in May, possible 4 in Sept and maybe again in Nov before it expires. I usually book with an AP rate and then wait for a FL res rate to come out. We've gotten really great deals. In Nov we stayed at Courtyard in DD for $25 a night, Jan- ASMovies for $49 and CBR coming up for $84. Those last two rates were FL Res rates. There are great ones for now -8/24-remember black out dates. Also, very good AP rates between now and 9/30. The pass is great for spontaneous trips, but we've never done that becasue I ALWAYS have a trip planned. I ususally have new ressies within 24 hrs of being home!

Yes, we feel the Florida seasonal passes are a great deal and have been buying them since 1997. They really offer considerable savings---plus there are little perks (although these change from time to time) such as shopping discounts, special viewing spots for Illuminations for passholders, passholder lounges, etc., that make the passes even more valuable. The biggest perk for me is---since we've been buying the passes, we spend A LOT more time at WDW!
:)

If you buy the Play 4 Pass and use it you can upgrade to a seasonal or annual pass if you decide you will be returning. They give you a certain date to upgrade by. I did this last year and it was easier for me than paying all at once. I just called before the date and payed the difference by credit card. One thing to remember is that your annual pass has an expiration date of one year after the first use of your Play 4 Pass, not the date you upgrade.

The Play 4 days pass is really a great deal, but the limits make it pretty much impossible for us to take advantage of. The Fla res season pass is by the far the most economical, and is available all the time.
