AP free with SSR purchase?

With all the the recent talk of the price per point increasing to $100 and how great sales are going, why add this incentive?

With the news that construction is falling behind sales, why now?

I guess I am looking a gift horse (horse = SSR, get it, ha, ha) in the mouth, but this is a better deal that people got months ago, why add this and why now?

I did not see any restrictions on using the new points at SSR or that they had to be used after a certain date like the sales to new members were being reported. Does Disney have too big of their own points inventory or are members like me (BCV in July) not staying there with their points??? Any ideas or theories???

I know at Member Homecoming Jim Lewis and Al Weiss were together alot and Al spoke about DVC members being some of Disney's most loyal customers and how we visit several times of year etc.

He looked kind of surprised at our dedication to sit in direct sunlight for the grand opening. (Did I say it was HOT!)

When I spoke to my guide last week, she said they had to attend a meeting and although she wouldnt go into further detail, She said Al Weiss was warming up to the idea. Maybe the AP's is what he was warming up to.

She did tell me they had a limited number, so it could be a test and I wouldnt look for this offer to last very long.

I think it's great and alot better than a litho that we would normally get! LOL

With the $10 off Im looking at $74 ppt if I include the AP's.
Don't you mean $79?

Current price: $95
$10 off makes it $85. Save $6 per point with AP's, thus $79.

No one has mentioned this, but wouldn't 1 week at a resort through II in a 2 bedroom be worth more? I thought that usually costs around 150 points to trade into it.

Yes, I think the II trade would be worth more, if you could actually take it... We have school, work, etc to coordinate, and so don't have time for another vacation. Also, am leary of "blackout" dates...

So I'd rather take a bird in the hand (or 2 APs).

I asked my guide why now, and got the answer because want to clear some inventory off of Phase I, and it's fiscal Year end or quarter end.... (not sure which he said).

SO may be just trying to help the bottom line....

If that's the case, I agree this might be a short term incentive.

I still think we're going to 105 pp in December / January ish.... We'll see how good my crystal ball is....

Goldi

Yes, SoCalKDG my math was off. I've corrected my post, as I wouldnt want to mislead anyone. Still a great price and every bit inline with current resales for DVCI. Thanks for the correction.

I think the II exchange is worth more, but you have to take it by March 2006. The AP's are vouchers that you can use anytime in the future. We use a mix of PHP and AP's so 2 AP's could last us a long time.

I prefer the parks, my Dh and the boys prefer DQ and the pool. LOL so I get the AP's they get DQ AP's and PHP's.

Ideas? Theories? Here on the DIS DVC Forum? What a concept! :p

First, remember that this incentive is ONLY for add-ons, and ONLY for purchases of 130 point or more. So unless anyone believes that this type of purchase is a big part of total DVC sales, then we can't infer anything about SSR sales in general.

More to the point of "why", it seems a bit obvious to me. No matter how many ROFRs they exercise, Disney has more SSR to sell - as add-ons - than any other resort, so they create an incentive to buy there. Also - and this is a bit more "fuzzy" - Disney may feel that it's "a good thing" for members to own points at multiple resorts; maybe to distribute reservations  .

IMHO - YMMV

Ok, from the mouth of my guide (who was with dvc since it began)

DVC just went to california and asked for $750,000 and it was granted no questions asked. big plans are in the works.

The sales were brisk, but the offer was made to set the bar even higher. Perhaps to show california that their money is well invested.

we'll have to use our imaginations to figure it out, but I was told they want their bigger then ever numbers even bigger before the end of the year.

Whaa???? I'm confused, can you spell this out a little more?

Nothing at all is spelled out, its only hints that are dropped, but they are all posative.

What other timeshare has ever had such a posative existance?

I feel really good about the money we spent on DVC, and I think the best is yet to come.

Okay as much as I would like more points, my 210 is enough, or has to be. I will pay my 758 +/- for my AP's and save alot of money.

We were able to take advantage of these 2 free AP's even though we signed our paperwork and sent it back before this offer was made. Had it "retroactive" so to speak. We are in the process of adding on 200 pts. at SSR-II and had taken the $10/pt. discount. We had gotten our paperwork, signed it, dated it for 8/13, and sent it back Wednesday. Then on Thursday evening this offer pops up in my email. I figured, "just my luck - the day after I sent it back in!". I called our guide that night and left a voicemessage with him saying that I assumed that I would be eligable for this offer even though our settlement date was before the offer was made public. Worst case, we have 15 days from settlement to rescind the contract, which I would do, and just start over again. He called back the next day (Friday) and told me that 2 vouchers were in the mail to me to arrive in 5 days. DW and I are going to WDW in November and were going to get annual passes then anyway, so what a nice bonus! Then she says, "how about we get 60 more points and break our contract into two 130 point contracts and get 4 AP's instead of 2". Will this madness ever end??!!

did i read this right?
the new incentive at SSR is 2-APs ... can anyone confirm?
what is the minumim purchase for that perk?
is it just for people who come off the waiting list?
thanks for any info

The way i look at it , kinda waste of money unless your planning on adding on. To spend over 8,000 bucks just to get a 800 ap, not worth it.

Deffinately not a waste of money, but by no means a smart thing to do if you did not plan on spending your vacation dollars on an additional intrest in dvc.

For those who are already in the market for an add on

AWSOME BONUS!!!

Im sure no one is buying DVC add-ons at 8 grand to get 2 AP's so that's a given. For those of us who were in the process or seriously considering it, I agree, it is a great bonus.

I was already in the process of adding on with my guide so I went for it.

Now you have DVC and Ap's so you could get several low cost trips in.

The offer is not for everyone but I was gonna buy additional SSR anyway and the Ap's so it worked for me!
