Ap Discount For Dvc

I am an annual passholder and are waiting to pass ROFR. Now I have about 15 days to renew my annual pass to get the $40 renewal discount.

What type of discount do DVC owners get for passes?

I am trying to decide if I should renew now and take the $40 discount or wait to see if we passed, if DVC discount is more.

What complicates it more is, I have a $$ trip at the AP rate for December. So, if we don't pass ROFR, I might have to buy a new pass and possibly miss both discounts.

Thank you for the information. I am wondering if I bought my annual pass before I was a DVC member, if I could get the renewal rate or if I would have to pay full price. Either way it would definately save me more $ than simply getting the $40 discount to renew my AP.

Well I have until to 14th to make the final decision, meaning pass ROFR - or just take the plunge and accept the $40 discount.

Wish me luck!

Is the 14th your anniversary date on your pass? If so, you have a 30 day grace period in which to renew.

Good luck with ROFR! :sunny:

You won't be able to get the DVC rate until after you have closed on your resale and are in the DVC system. I think you have 30 days after your AP expires to take advantage of the renewal rate before you'd need to purchase at full price (plus the DVC discount).

My pass is dated 10/15, but I got a letter from Disney that said, "Please don't forget: Renew before October 15,2006 and save $40.00*(plus tax)!

I too thought that I had 30 days after 10/15 to renew, but the letter implies that the $40.00 discount will only be until before 10/15. The regular renewal price plus tax is stated $462.21 and "Your Renewal price is $419.61."

So if I am reading this correctly, then I can renew at the renewal price of $462.21 until 11/15, but to get the $40.00 discount, I must renew before 10/15.

So, I will wait until the 14th and cross my fingers for ROFR.

I am more nervous about passing ROFR than I am about getting the discount, but saving the extra $$ would be great!! Then the possibility of not even getting the $40 discount bothers me too.

Either way I need the AP for the December trip, so I guess the $40 discount is better than $0 discount.

Well, wish me luck and maybe I will hear next week!

Thanks everyone for your help!

Wow, sorry. I didn't understand that you had a discount on top of a discount offer apparently.

Three of our APs expire this week and we didn't receive a letter like that. :confused3 Is this extra discount something new? We've had AP although not PAPs for many years.

Far more importantly, good luck on that ROFR! :cool1:

joelly2103,
Pixie dust to you on the ROFR. I think I would wait to purchase the AP. Even if the DVC doesn't pass ROFR and you don't get the renewal price, you may still come out ahead. If you don't need your AP until December, you could buy a brand new AP at that time. You would essentially extend your AP valid period by 2 months--that might be worth $40.

I don't want anyone to be mislead.

I just went to the Disney World website. The price they gave me in the letter, is a renewal price, which is $40.00 less than purchasing a new pass.

Never mind, you figured out the discounts. :sunny:

And yes, the DVC discounts are better as you can see from Ca Disney Fans chart.

I'm waiting to renew ours on our next trip in a few months....it works out better for us this way. But I'm sure I didn't miss a letter...really there should have been three. We've been in the system before and then we get nothing for a while. Then we start to get correspondence again. :confused3 I think their system need some work! ;)

Good luck again! :cool1:
